2016 Today I...

Today I... thought I'd resurrect this thread with something off-topic such as my fibre internet speed. Download is a feeble 6Mbps but upload (which is meant to be capped at 50Mbps) seems to be uncapped today. I was getting almost 100Mbps this morning. At least it's only US$16/month.

I also bought some plants for my balcony.

The little one is the top off a pineapple. If I stay here more than two years maybe I will successfully grow my own pineapple fruit. Purely for entertainment purposes, as a pineapple costs like 20c here.
Haha this may be such a stupid question. But is that how you grow a pineapple? Stick the top bit in the soil and 2 years later you have a pineapple?!?

That internet speed is pretty decent and better than most parts of Australia still. Lol!

Pretty much, just trim the bottom few leaves off, and let it root in a container of water for a few days before planting... That's what I did in Sydney but 2 years on it hadn't fruited, but my Aunt in Auckland of all places successfully grew one once, so it must be possible in Sydney, and even more likely here.

Here is what is should look like (eventually):

I adopted out my plant in Sydney to a friend who is under strict instructions to nurture it and send me a pic if it ever fruits.

That's cool. I'd try but I'm almost certain it would just die. Haha

...Bleachy it does work... I've done it on two occasions before now... you can eat the Pineapple after about a year or so... some people may think that waiting a year is meh but you were going to throw the head of the Pineapple away anyway weren't you?... the first one grew to about three quarters the size of a regular Pineapple but I got inpatient and ate it regardless... it was hard and dry ... the second I let grow fully and it was delicious lol!...

...basically it is something for nothing and fun to watch grow... plus you can do the same with the head of your new Pineapple... it just keeps giving lol!... follow this video below exactly and you can't go wrong... one little tip though move the pot a little more undercover in winter to avoid the frost... I learned that from trial and error... I used the Sodium Carbonate rather than the apple method... (I never knew that apples could do that at the time)... have fun my friend if you do try it... cheers.

...I didn't wait the full year to use it either... I put it on after about 9-10 months... (my impatience at work again) and it still worked lol!... I had the Pineapple to eat in just 12 months and a couple of weeks from memory... cheers.

I would have to put it on my google calendar otherwise there's no way I would remember how long ago I had planted it lol!
