Is anyone buying the new figurines/magazine? There's an ad for it on this page (for me). Newsagents have the first issue now for $7.99, it's Matt Smith. After that it will be $19.99, every fortnight. Be warned though, it goes on for ages (unless you just want to get random figures rather than every one).
The ad is running on TV too, it's weird seeing DW on commercial channels.

...I will be buying the odd figurine every now and then of the ones that I like... it ends up costing you around £520 pounds which is about $930 dollars!... here is the price deals below... cheers.

Awwe Matt, I had forgotten that spoiler, and I too teared up.
Such a beautiful moment, OMG I will miss lovely sweet Matt.
And already love Peter, he's very peculiar and strange and fab,

Sound was a bit off in the beginning?
Or my ear always takes a bit to tune in properly to the new Doctor's voice/speech patterns etc, he has to ramble such complicated rushed dialogue & act bewildered, tuning into a new doctor's rhythm takes a bit of getting used to,

Can't wait to watch again tonight.

And no @stickyfingers I didn't sleep in and miss it, thanks for the concern :)
I just could not post & watch at the same time, far too excited and focused on that screen.

The Clara leaving is just rumour, and she needs to stick around for at least an entire post Christmas series. i hope.

...hahaha!... that's good to hear kxk!... I do admit that I was a tad bit concerned for you... after all... you are one of the most avid Doctor Who nutjobs on here!... erm... um... I mean... after all... you are one of the most avid Doctor Who fans on here!... (phew!... I may have just gotten myself out of the poo just there lol!)... cheers.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

...I must admit... I've never really been a fan of the Paternoster Gang but they have grown on me in this episode... I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the new Dr Who series will be less episodes a year but will be movie length of around 90 minutes for each episode instead!... that would be mixed feelings for me methinks!... would I want longer episodes or more episodes???... I'd probably opt for more episodes more than likely... cheers.

...the remote control for the Victorian Handsome Cab door!... I missed that in all 3 previous screenings that I've watched today so far!!!... lolol!... cheers.

It is a lovely episode, very satisfying and quite a lot of heart, the end is heartbreaking again - Doctor gets me like no other.
The surreal Missy mary poppins will surely be back? They never do things like that without intent.

Vulture has some great DW articles, about Matt, DW, etc

I especially liked this -

Despite the episode featuring the welcome return of David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor and introducing John Hurt’s war incarnation (not to mention Zygons, Billie Piper, Time Lords, Jenna Coleman’s smile, and even bloody Tom Baker), “Day” belongs firmly to Smith. It’s a testament to his considerable talents that he not only held his own against all those other exciting elements, but managed to retain ownership of the proceedings as the current reigning Doctor, and was still generous enough to let everything around him shine so brightly. That was some high wire act, Matt.

and another....

Strax: May I take your coat?

Clara: I'm not wearing a coat. These are clothes.

Strax: Really? ... May I take your clothes?

Hahahahaaha I love him!

Vastra, Jenny & Strax are brilliant. Only trouble is, they're based in Victorian London, unless the Doctor picks them up and brings them to modern day!

Thank you, OMG, I cacked myself.
Only DW can make me laugh and cry and want to dance with utter joy.
I adore the Victorian Crew.

DW is so magical, I feel like it is such a beautiful gift -

I feel so sad for people left out, I try and convert wherever I can, and there is such stupid resistence in some quarters.

OMGoodness, gracious me, ABC are friggin awesome...they are giving us simulcasts of the ENTIRE NEW SEASON!!!!

Now I really am posting that thank you card tomorrow:) Give them a kiss somehow you guys.

ABC to continue ‘UK simulcasts’ for Doctor Who fans

Geronimo!

Whovians will be jumping for joy with confirmation that the ABC will continue its early morning premieres of Doctor Who, in sync with UK audiences for the entire season.

It will also continue iview screenings on Sundays ahead of the primetime screenings.

The numbers were good for ABC yesterday with 148,000 watching “Deep Breath” at 4:50am and a further 710,000 in the evening.

There were another 62,000 plays via ABC iview.

In the UK Peter Capaldi’s debut attracted 6.8 million viewers, down on the 8 million who watched Matt Smith’s debut in 2010.

Episode 2 “Into the Dalek” will be screened early this Sunday 31 August and again at 7.40pm on ABC and via iview during the day. ABC2 also has a replay at 7.30pm on following Saturday night.

Nice one.

Awesome news. Isn't it incredible that 148,000 other people watched it at that time of the morbning, as well as the dozen or so of us here. Bring on the sleepless weekends.

Figures are great - so glad, I love 148,000 strangers:)

Don't you just LOVE the ABC now, I have always been quiet keen on ABC/SBS, national treasures, support any way I can, and lately they have been hitting a real sweet spot with me.
Love that they know DW is a very special gift; love that they love Julia Zemiro.

So, Sundays will never be the same - and I intend to start a whole new way of weekending:)
Our weekends are kind of weird anyway, Nick usually is DJing about that time, so I have been getting up at 3.30 am a lot anyway.
Now, I'm going to get to bed earlier saturdays, and get up that early Sundays, and after DW I'm going to get fit and get out in the Spring sunshine - early swims, good intentions, may happen...or I could just continue to lie in bed with pastries.

...that is truley incredible news!... well done ABC you friggin' legends!...man!... I'm a happy chappy!... cheers.

Late to the party - problems with my computer.
Loved it!!
The fact my hubby is Scottish (and from Glasgow) had nothing to do with the amount of laughter and pointing at him whilst watching.

Loved also the news about ABC and the figures were also good to see.

Trying to pick a favourite bit was like picking a favourite child but the Patanoster Gang will always make me laugh

Watched it on iView last night with lscp and neither of us were in the slightest bit impressed and more or less only kept it on to the end out of a sense of duty and hope that it would suddenly improve and become a worthwhile use of our time.

What a load of old cobblers and tripe it was. A steaming pile of fetid dingo's kidneys, even.

The writers and directors / whatever must seem to think they have a massive fan base who will still love them no matter what kind of garbage is contemptuously foisted upon them.

My only hope is that it was a deliberate plan to dump such an awful smelly rotten chicken of an episode on us so that every episode after that would seem better.

regarDS

...so Derspatz... OTHER than everything that you just said... did you like it?:whistling:;)... cheers.

I have mixed feelings about that episode.

I don't want to admit it, but for the first time EVER I wasn't sure if I was liking the new Doctor, at the beginning anyway. I was finding him too understated.
But I literally rolled out of bed as it started, so maybe I was too sleepy to appreciate him. I liked him more as it went on.

PLUS while there were things that I really liked, such as the concept and the dialogue, I didn't like some of the production, such as the quick drying/cleaning of the team after they fell into the green sludge, or the setting of the Doctor while he was trying to inspire the good Dalek.

I really don't want to be a complaining fan, so I'll watch it again tonight and hopefully see the error of my ways. Now, back to bed.

I think I'll need to watch this one again. Overall I enjoyed it a lot, but there were a few things that didn't sit well with me., like his rejection of the soldier (didn't catch her name, and I was trying) who wanted to travel with him. Not sure I like the idea of soldiers not being good enough to be companion material, especially given the Doctor's own past.
Liked Danny Pink a lot, and Clara as Coal Hill schoolteacher.
Is Mary Poppins going to be collecting dead people for her tea party?

Yeah, that was weird. A little cruel, and as you say, hypocritical. Maybe it was purely a plot device for Clara and Mr Pink, considering Clara's last line about no rules against soldiers.
I really like the Heaven subplot. A collection of the Doctor's casualties. This could be fun. Or sad.

Ok, really back to bed this time.
