Doctor Who

Maybe I'm over-tired with only a few hours sleep, but I cried at the end, first for Matt and then for Peter. They were so vulnerable.

...the passing over the role to Capaldi by Matt was so touching... I was loving Peter's 'rabbit-in-the-headlights' look while he was scared and vulnerable... some great acting skills from Capaldi to pull that transition off as well as he did!... cheers.

The dynamic between Clara and the Doctor was perfect. Like equals instead of people with hidden crushes for each other. It makes the show funnier ... and what a funny episode it was. The whole Paternoster Gang were hilarious. And so were Clara and the Doctor. Great humour balance.

LOVED IT.

Capaldi is perfect, brilliant handover from Matt smith, and isn't Jenna briliant? Crazy Mary Poppins at the end looks like a total freak-out too, I wonder if she's the linking theme this season like in the Madam Kovarian season.

Off to bed now, I didn't dare sleep. Glad you guys enjoyed it too.

It was an amazing way to transition. Were there any rumours? I had no idea, such an amazing surprise. I'm going to miss Matt. But what a replacement. No complaints from me.

...hey Meglos... I have to agree with all that you said there... it's good to see that you made it!... kxk must have slept through her alarm... she's going to be spewing if she did lol!... cheers.

After "don't blink" it was great to see "don't breathe". I tried to hold my breath as long as Clara, but failed abysmally.

And will need to see the opening credits and the TARDIS again to decide if I like them.

Great to see continuation of Girl in the Fireplace. I love a clockwork monster, but what a way to up the ante.

I'm a happy little fan this morning.

...the robot reminded me of 'Jack the Ripper'... I'm not sure that he was supposed to be Jack the Ripper but he was killing I guess?... such a great episode!... cheers.

Well Mr SF, time for a bit of shut eye ... you must be almost delirious staying up all night. Well done. I slept on the couch because I thought I mightn't get out of a cosy bed, and was dopey and bleary eyed until the last song on rage ... Doctorin' the TARDIS by The Timelords. Channel 2 really are wonderful custodians of the DW legacy.

Sweet dreams.

...I so like the new opening sequence with the Tardis flying through the clockwork cogs and eventually through... (I think)... Gallifreyan Text possibly?... I love it when when Time is represented like this...

...and that was represented within the sequence... it was so good!... cheers.

...that was clever of them wasn't it?... have a good sleep my friend... cheers.

Well that didn't disappoint! Great episode with a nice balance of humour (oh, Strax ) and feels (I just wanted to hug the Doctor so many times). I'm really going to enjoy Capaldi - and his cross eyebrows - and loved the references to previous Doctors as well.

I did wonder if the whole 'I can't accept you...yet' storyline was for the fans' benefit though? Probably seems like an obvious question / observation, but it felt as if the writers were trying to help some people along - through Clara's eyes - to accept the new Doctor and move on.

Any hoo - thought it was a fantastic start, and am looking forward to Ep 2! :)

...it seems that Peter Capaldi has won fans and reviewers over with his debut as the new Doctor...here are some reviews...

...the general consensus is that Peter nailed it!... although some are saying that it wasn't the best Dr Who episode ever but it was good value to watch... I'm with everyone else on here... I'm loving Peter in the role... bring on the next episodes!!!!... cheers.

...a man with a horse and carriage pulls up while The Doctor is hanging upside down from a tree after a fall...

..."halt!... I'm sorry... I've got to relieve you of your pet"...

..."do what?"... exclaims the driver...

.."shut up!... I was talking to the horse!"...

...:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:... absolute brilliance!!!...lol!... I love it!... cheers.

Awwe Matt, I had forgotten that spoiler, and I too teared up.
Such a beautiful moment, OMG I will miss lovely sweet Matt.
And already love Peter, he's very peculiar and strange and fab,

Sound was a bit off in the beginning?
Or my ear always takes a bit to tune in properly to the new Doctor's voice/speech patterns etc, he has to ramble such complicated rushed dialogue & act bewildered, tuning into a new doctor's rhythm takes a bit of getting used to,

Can't wait to watch again tonight.

And no @stickyfingers I didn't sleep in and miss it, thanks for the concern :)
I just could not post & watch at the same time, far too excited and focused on that screen.

The Clara leaving is just rumour, and she needs to stick around for at least an entire post Christmas series. i hope.

Is anyone buying the new figurines/magazine? There's an ad for it on this page (for me). Newsagents have the first issue now for $7.99, it's Matt Smith. After that it will be $19.99, every fortnight. Be warned though, it goes on for ages (unless you just want to get random figures rather than every one).
The ad is running on TV too, it's weird seeing DW on commercial channels.

Going for 2nds??? I am, it takes 3 times to catch everything, especially with a new doctor speaking in scot:)

Yes I did, Mr Sticky....... It is always strange adjusting to a new one.......what was with the ending though? Are we going towards the metaphysical?

...yeah that was a tad bit on the strange side wasn't it?... it was a bit like the Speilberg movie 'AI' where the young android boy has a dream sequence on his last day alive wasn't it?... a thought that I did have though was that it was supposed to be the last few thoughts that was going through the androids mind as it was slowly shutting down as he was dying on the spire of 'Big Ben'?... of how he perceives his last resting place will be?... the ideal ending for himself just as he dies... as I say... just a thought... cheers.
