Housemate Hunt 2014

I wonder what is happening with the NT video auditions. Would they be conducting Skype interviews with those who submitted interesting videos, do you think? It seems like it would be a bit of a gamble to fly them down to Sydney based on a short video, without properly gauging what they are like.

So for the first time EVER, I decided to audition for Big Brother this weekend. What an experience!

Definitely agree with the previous comments... NUMBERS WERE DOWN. Yesterday, I basically walked right in the door, waited less than a minute and I had my stickers/numbers. Waited an hour and a bit, went into round 1 which went 20 mins and got eliminated. There were still a fair few people but the function room was not full and many gaps in chairs.

Housemates there was Tahan, Xavier and Ben (2012).

Round 1 yesterday was basically - hold fingers up between 1-4 and run that number of facts. We did a few continue this story. They did the 1-100% cones and asked our opinions on things like - "Would you hack in to your partners email if you thought they were cheating" as well as "Do you think you are smarter than the average human". Then went around to random people and asked to explain why they were on that percentage. They then split us up into groups and asked us to come up with a name and put on a little show - skit, rap, dance, song, poem, etc. We did that. After that it we sat in a circle and were a few random questions like "What makes you cry, etc". Then they told us to pick someone who they thought should go through. Yesterday, out of the 11 people, 6 chose me. I was chuffed really, but they chose another 4 people to progess and It was a no for me.

Today, went back and auditioned.. Same thing. Walked right in. There were way less people then yesterday. Waited about 25 mins, went into round 1. Progressed to Round 2. Waited for about 40 mins, went in and we were in round 2 for about 30 mins and everyone I went into round 2 with was eliminated.. It shocked me, as there were interesting people in my group. But alas, not to them.

Housemates there were Ed, Drew, Boog and then Sharon and Nathan came in shortly before I was called in to round 1.

Round 1 was almost the same in the sense, we did the fingers between 1-4 and running facts off, we did the continue the story. They did the 1-100% cones, but the questions were different. We split off into groups and had to do team names, and a performance. We sat in a circle and they asked a few questions (different from yesterday) then they told us to wait. Today was more successful, 5 of us were selected for round 2. I was shocked. I had different producers today, and the producers I had yesterday saw me and smiled/waved so they definitely remembered me.

Went into Round 2 room and people were all chatting and getting to know each other. We couldn't say our names. We were playing Charades/Celebrity Heads. There was one girl in front of me that gave me a hard time and part of me wished I went into the round 2 with her as I would have loved to have a debate with her. She didn't make it through though.

I was in Round 2 with the 4 others that were picked from my round 1 group and about five/six others. We just had a group chat basically about random things for about half hour. Again after opening up and telling some of my story and what I was about, I got another vote of support from the fellow candidates who said I should get in. Maybe this was my undoing, I don't know, but alas, none of us made it past round 2.

They are definitely being ruthless this year. I think they know they want. Yesterday I went in there, took it seriously and took the piss out of myself, didn't work. Went in today, took the piss out of myself and opened up and it got me through the next stages.

In saying all this. I feel fine. I'm not bitter about being rejected. I had fun, I know I made an impact on other people and that's what counts. And as the producers say, some HMs had to auditioned over a few years before they were selected. Persistence pays off!

This thing about playing charades in the waiting room sticks with me as interesting... there were other variations of games being played in the round 2 waiting room in other states as well... this has not been done before. There were also producers floating through the room as these games were being played, I have a feeling this was actually a part of the casting process that people weren't being told was actually being watched/considered.

My cousin got through to the final part of the audition round in Melbourne and he said that Australia wide 500 got chosen to get to phase 2...... Does this sound correct or would it be more??
There isn't a number attributed to this, the panel claim it is the top 1% of auditionees

People I've spoken with who auditioned last year said they played the same games last year as well, so they have done it before. They say they do it to keep the energy level up, but I have to agree that it does make sense that the producers would be observing this. They should make that a the real round 2 and from there only select certain people to go to the panel of people, only because you might get some more genuine reactions in there.

im thinking that this game round that "isnt being watched" would probably be to try and catch out anybody who was really putting on a show just to get into the house, who would then end up being really boring...

I get the feeling that it shows who was out for attention.

Before round one they wanted people to show off their "talents" and this one woman claimed she could make a bicycle horn noise.

Meanwhile, I sat with a guy in my section discussing the importance to understand the beliefs/practices of different religions, despite both of us being atheists.

Now, really, which one would've made for better TV?

The lady that makes bicycle horn noise of course. I wanna hear that.

did she actually do it or just claimed she could?
i'm a little sceptical...

I know someone who got through to round 3 and they participated in zero the charade games to the point of hiding when they were choosing people to play. This person didn't even talk to anyone else there, they were just on their ipod the whole time, so surely they weren't being observed too closely. That sounds like really boring TV.

Posts like these make me lose faith in the 'hardcore' viewers of the show....

Sorry - she could, and did. Props to her because she was pretty spot on with it, but if I wanted to hear a bicycle horn, well, I'd go and squeeze a bicycle horn.

fwiw, the guy I had the conversation with was put through to round 2, along with two other people (guy and girl) who also didn't want to participate in the "Talent" show

There was nothing better in the old day's.. than sitting down to watch a good, long, lengthy discussion between 2 or more housemates out in the backyard, at some ridiculous hour of the day or night.. sipping coffee and breathing out cold air as they dived into a full on deep and meaningful on all types of interesting topics

Yes, back in the days before the aired house conversations were dreary nonsense about pegacorns or a lame and manufactured bromance between some buff puffing narcissists on treadmills.

I heard that 1000 were chosen to go on to the next phase, but of course, the people who got that letter have to wait for a phone call, if that doesn't come by 14 May then they missed out, I know this cos of some silly girl who put her letter on facebook

Oh Robbie I agree with you. Those were the good days

@Rubbernecker So you just said that you went today to the Canberra audition.. how did you do.. assuming you auditioned??

 Ohhh to be hot and have good looks.. I bet, by the sounds of it.. he's "that guy", that just cruises through life... relying on his good looks to get him places.

Hey Robbie do you remember that hot guy from the Gold Coast that day and he took his shirt off ?!? Lol

Just was looking around on the internet today and found this hilarious video that someone did about their experience of the auditions for Big Brother this year. Haha think its worthwhile to watch and have a laugh.
