For me it's really the shifts, and how her mood comes across. Yes, I realise that I'm basically saying, "Gee, I'm surprised by Tully's mood swings," which is sort of like saying, "How odd for Ed to wear an ugly shirt," but...yeah. Just my paranoid perceptions. :)
I think what's probably causing some of the confusion is that Tully is someone who uses social media to document everything she's doing and to express her feelings whereas Drew just tends to post more light-hearted things. And he definitely doesn't make as many posts as Tully, let alone gushy ones. Typical guy really. So when they're together you get a double dose of Drew as she posts a lot of him and there's constant confirmation that all is well. I just always assume that if someone is in frequent contact FaceTiming or on the phone with someone, it'd be redundant to go like photos showing the very things you've just discussed.

And I guess based on what we saw of Tully in the house, I'm not at all surprised by her emo posts on social media whenever her and Drew are apart. But if they're fighting or split up, we'll probably know 5 minutes after it happens if not sooner because she'll come out and say it or at the very least be a lot more blatant than using a Sylvia Plath quote. I just think she's a very emotional woman and when she's alone she becomes very introspective (and I suspect attention-seeking at times). This has been her behaviour every time they've been apart and even before he was out of the house so I don't expect anything different now. And with her confirming she's not moving to Melbourne and Drew not mentioning anything yet about moving to Sydney - if he ever plans to - it's going to play out like this every time they're apart.

That's why I keep saying not to stress about it as it seems every time they're in different places a few people in here are concerned they're broken up based solely on what they are or aren't saying on social media and then they turn up looking all lovey dovey again. Maybe just view them as any other couple you know in a long distance relationship... would you automatically worry they'd broken up because of their social media activity or lack thereof during Xmas after only being apart for 4 days or would you just think they were in contact privately and enjoying the holidays? :)

I agree that the dog pics are getting old. But she obviously thinks highly of the thing so I just skip over those...

I also wonder what she does for a job...She has to be getting money somewhere to be living in that house, flying to Melbourne for a couple days and back, eating out all the time......Maybe she gets good money but hates her job (I know that can be really depressing...I have a great paying job but I can't wait to find another that is more challenging).....Just theories...
I suspect she was making quite good money essentially writing copy for social media, and she may have something in the works, but at the moment she's under occupied to me, and I've been vocal all along about how intelligent I think Tully is. To me her behaviour smacks of boredom.

So drew deleted his insty post... I'm pretty sure I've seen it (or am i imagining thanks ngs???) But when I refresh the page, it's no longer there. It's a good photo but might attract speculations?? Hmmm. We won't speculate drew, just post it! Haha

My thought: a few posters were tagging tee_smyth in some of the comments before he deleted that pic. Drew has said he is pretty protective about people going after Tully in social media (he's gotten in twitter exchanges with a few Tully haters before, It said in that magazine article that he wasn't jealous but was protective)....

I think he just didn't want her to be getting some of these comments....along with the cheating being brought up and the joke about him taking his friends girlfriends....

I though it was funny.... but I could see where it might start the kind of comments he was trying to avoid...

I agree with all of this. I'm interested about the long distance romance thing. If Drew's posts show anything, it's that he has a large and stable group of friends. He also likes the company of men…Tully's not going to be much help there.

BBfanjake Based on what Tahlia said on here when she posted a couple of times, Tully was in a very high-paid job before going on BB so I just assumed she had some cash banked from that, plus the money she got paid from BB + the $5k she won in the challenge + the money from The Today Show and whatever else she's getting cash for now. She has mentioned a few times though that she was looking for a job although that was soon after leaving the house but that was before she started to talk about this tv presenting thing so I'm not sure if she's still interested in that field. With the amount she posts on social media though, I can see why she made the big bucks haha

Ahh, see I wasn't even thinking of it that way, because generally he only seems to get pretty fawning comments. But that could be, or he could have realised it could be seen like that. See, maybe speculation is good--we all overanalyse things differently and can learn from one another, haha.

Haha.. but I could be wrong and he was just tired of deleting comments so he just took it down. Lol

Thanks for this....Yea, sounds like she could have a lot banked away or may be employed by now and we just don't know where...and I doubt she would tell people...

And I agree she definitely knows the ins and outs of social media very well....

Regarding the HM's use of social media in general... There is a fine line between using their BB status to mix business with pleasure. I can't imagine posting personal pics and info on my FB business page and have my private page locked down tighter than a fishes arse! Mind you, I'm not 'famous' but still, surely there is a line in the sand when it comes to advertising business products vs pics of my dog or me at a pub or nightclub. Blurred lines.

And while I'm having a Tully rant, what happened to the girl who had advice she's now taken down from her Instagram, never to sleep with someone who doesn't have books? There's been amazing fiction released in the last two months. She can't stop talking about dogs, but not a word about books. Tully, Tully, Tully... It's plain I could never be a Jade fan, I'm too demanding.

LOL at your last sentence - so true!! I remember thinking when they were posting all those pics of that party at Drew's house that he really does seem to have a great group of friends around him. They all seem to have either known each other for years and years or at least have become really close in a shorter period of time. I imagine that'd be a big factor in any discussion of him leaving Melbourne for Sydney (which I think is silly for either of them to even contemplate yet with such a new relationship). I wouldn't be surprised if they carried on the long-distance thing for quite some time unless a really great job opportunity necessitated a move for one of them.

I'm with you on this too.

Hahaha. This is why even her foodstagramming I appreciate because atleast she writes. Im like since you are making use of your tumblr, write something! Go back to blogging! I'm hoping she'll do a "Tully Smyth, circa 2013", its end of the year tully you should do it again this year! Yes I'm demanding as well. Hahaha. Have you read her blog??? It's pretty good so she better continue writing. I want to read and get into the "sane" version of her.

I feel the same way but to be honest, I think we're just old school now. I remember reading an article on like news.com.au or something about how celebs are paid to post about certain products and the money involved was crazy. And then they mentioned how a few Aussies were collecting anywhere from $1k a post to $15k just to hawk whatever and my jaw dropped. I knew it was a 'thing' as my work has a clause in contracts that people can't engage in those activities for whatever period they're working with us but those are all people overseas. I never thought that would catch on here. For some reason it just seems so un-Aussie like. Personal post, pic of my dinner, pic of my son, post about this great coconut water I'm loving now (for which I'm getting paid $5k PER POST), another pic of my son, Merry Christmas!! So tacky.

The girl can write…really well. That's why all this is starting to frustrate me… I'm being a pain in the arse I know, but Tully is becoming (in my head), simply a lady who lunches. Tedious.

Exactly the point I was getting at...when they use the one account to plug business AND share their intimate thoughts/moments, well...sorry but you can't be troll free and for mine, it just looks like a personal 'sell-out'.

Absolutely, on a professional account, especially when local businesses promote each other. I guess the whole paid tweet changes the face of advertising.

I found some of her past entries on Tumblr to be really well constructed and it was clear that they had been proofread meticulously. However, that apology piece to Tahlia was awful... I know it wasn't really for public consumption but if that's her raw writing ability then it's not exactly impressive.

I think that was more like an open letter it's not even in the "observation" link which I assume is her personal blogging space.

I'll give her a pass on the Tahlia thing because it was intensely personal (and I wish I hadn't read it) but I am confident that her ability to write good copy isn't the issue. It seems she's searching for something…now I'm sounding like a cliché. That said, I was surprised/disappointed that Tully used Plath, because angst and Sylvia are the ultimate in clichés.

I truly don't understand how it's legal, or at least the non-disclosure aspect of it at least. I know the US has a law now that bloggers have to disclose sponsored posts and if they've even just received items for free in exchange for a post and I *think* the UK might have adopted that now too or are close to it anyway, although it hasn't hit Australia yet. But I don't get how Twitter or Instagram should be considered any different from a blog. If anything, I'd think more people now visit those platforms than blogging sites. I'm like you - my real social media accounts are absolutely locked down mainly because pics of my son pop up on there once in awhile and there are simply too many sickos out there. But unfortunately I've become so cynical now that even when someone like Tully says I'm not getting paid for any of these posts, I still remain skeptical especially now that she's hooked up with Sweaty Betty's Blog agency. I realise that some companies are just sending their products to HMs as we've seen the same pieces on say Tully, Boog, Jazz and Tahan's accounts but the whole thing just gives me an off feeling. Not sure what the solution is though because I wonder how many people would even go look at a business account of a HM and instead are more interested in their personal stuff? Maybe that's the whole point of blurring those lines. Even though I totally understand the concept of striking while the iron is hot - especially for reality stars who have a very short shelf life - I still feel uneasy about it all.

YES!!! THANK YOU!!!! I almost said it at the time but I didn't want to offend anyone here and get into WW 99. But seriously... Sylvia Plath? Come on now. She may as well have thrown an Anais Nin quote in for good measure. Fair enough she's a bisexual Newtown hipster but seriously there's no need to tick every cliched box you can. (My Mac's in the Apple Hospital and I don't know how to do tremas or accents on a PC so no one jump on me for that please!)
