Here you go:

This is Big Brother.
My fellow Australians,
Big Brother is way too sensible to believe in superstition but I do like the number 13 and so, in honour of this number, I’ve decided to make 2013 LUCKY…for some.
Big Brother understands there has been much discussion around the ‘twist’ I have plotted for this year’s launch and, now I have my Housemates safely in lockdown, I have decided to break my silence.
On Monday 29th July 2013 at 7pm, Sonia will introduce you to twelve new Housemates.
On night one there will be division in the House as some will be IN and some will be half-way OUT. The house is modern and opulent but within the House lays the first twist.
Twelve seems a lonely number when you’re not united, so holy matrimony could be “just the trick”.
As my dear old mother used to say, “Do unto others”. I wonder if my Housemates will be nice to their other ‘halves’?
Human nature has always been Big Brother’s obsession, watching as these once-strangers learn to deal with the deprivation and reward of Big Brother’s House. What is it like to live on hand-outs from the wealthy? Big Brother has decided it is time to find out.
Listen carefully as Big Brother spells it out. This year Housemates will be in, out and shaken all about.
With 52 cameras you cannot be missed. There is no hiding from the Big Brother twist.
Until Monday the 29th . . . That is all.
Sincerely,
Big Brother.

That is the script :)

Ok guys I just thought of something. So as we all know there have been ads airing all around Australia saying "there will be more Housemates than ever before this year". Today though BB made an announcement regarding the twist saying that only 12 new housemates will enter on launch night. This has obviously left us all confused because they say more Housemates than ever before but than they say only 12 will enter on launch night. I have bolded the word new because I think it could be a key word. Could there possibly be 4-6 past Housemates returning for this series making the total housemates for this series 16-18?

Somebody mentioned on here a few days ago about past housemates potentially returning. I think they may have been onto something. I personally would not like old housemates to return but at the same time it would not completely surprise me. What do we all think?

the returning housemates were very popular in the ignore the obvious challenge last year, quite possibly on to something there...

could borrow from BBUS even more and have the returning HMs as "coaches" for the new ones, which divides them into teams too

Hoping someone will scan the article from the Sunday Telegraph today and put it up on here. It was about Shelley joining the Saturday game show. It was on a big page and was great advertising :-)

Whatever the twist is, I just hope it's not just going to make it seem like Survivor or something, where from day 1 they're all getting into alliances and turning against each other. I can't stand that.

I really hope it's nothing that will be too distracting. The first four weeks of Big Brother are typically the most eventful due to the fact that the cast of housemates is at its greatest number and relationships tend to shift quite dynamically as the housemates learn more about each other.

I do hope this "more housemates than ever before" is a red herring, or a play on words because a cast of more than 14 will just become confusing and detract from the show - the viewers will not be able to connect with the housemates nor will the housemates truly connect with each other if there is this great big twist distracting everybody.
Quoted for truth. I'd love to be able to just watch for a few weeks and get to know the housemates without the dog and pony show twists.

so if 12 is lonely and "holy matrimony" will do the trick, then 12 housemates will enter "the house" and their "other halves" (I.e. another 12) will go into the poor/halfway house, so there will be more housemates than ever just not all in the main house? And there must be some mechanism for exchanging them.

not sure whether to take the matrimony part literally, would it really be 12 couples?

i wouldn't mind seeing the two entering on monday being twins and they have to swap places between the rich and poor without being noticed.... probably impossible but would be entertaining viewing
