What's the Twist?

redemption island is just like the MKR twist earlier this year, Comeback Kitchen,
then lawsuits will be coming their way

With the press release going out tonight, I'm growing curious as things come together. There's certainly more pieces to the puzzle.

1. 12 housemates enter on launch on Sunday night (broadcast monday 29th) - confirmed

2. 2 additional housemates enter on tuesday night - confirmed via foxtel and other EPG leaks

3. a saturday night show "Saturday Showdown" - but this only runs for 4 weeks (as per press release though might change?)

4. a system of "deprivation and reward, haves and have-nots", "division in the house, as some will be in and some will be halfway out", "What is it like to live on handouts from the wealthy? Big Brother has decided it's time to find out." - per press release

So that makes 14 housemates in the first 3 days. Perhaps that number is going to be whittled down over the 4 weeks OR, two teams are selected and the winning team at the end of the 4 weeks stays in the house whilst the losing team EXITS the house?

During the 4 weeks, the losing team becomes the "have-nots".

There's a fault to this, since the losing team at the END of the 4 weeks being booted wouldn't make sense, but then again, maybe that's a suprise to hit the HMs with on the last "Saturday Showdown"?

Anybody else care to see if the above points can be fitted into a theory?

Maybe the above points AREN'T connected, and trying to connect the dots will never work.

ugh this is really confusing.

meh lets just wait until launch night so Sonia can explain it to us like we're little kids since they're part of BB's demographic nowadays.

I really hope it's nothing that will be too distracting. The first four weeks of Big Brother are typically the most eventful due to the fact that the cast of housemates is at its greatest number and relationships tend to shift quite dynamically as the housemates learn more about each other.

I do hope this "more housemates than ever before" is a red herring, or a play on words because a cast of more than 14 will just become confusing and detract from the show - the viewers will not be able to connect with the housemates nor will the housemates truly connect with each other if there is this great big twist distracting everybody.

I can't see them having their cast of housemates randomly selected from a pool of finalists - it's too risky. Housemates are usually cast to fill a particular niche in the house and to create a particular house dynamic. I think the fourteen that enter during week one are it and the "more housemates to enter than ever before" is just a play on words to do with the twist.

It sounds like they're going for a rich/poor divide to me, with the rich housemates dictating life in the house for the poor "non-housemates". They did say they were going for a "classy" house this year, so that could tie into a rich/poor theme. I imagine non-housemates will be able to win "housemate" status based on events during the week and based on the outcome of the Saturday showdown, or alternatively housemates will be demoted to "non-housemate" status. The "more housemates than ever" would then refer to the ever-changing "housemate" status of all contestants. When the evictions roll around, all "housemates" are immune, and all "non housemates" are up for eviction (non housemates = "halfway out"); sort of similar to BBUK10 perhaps? I want it to be a bit more exciting than that though, but it seems to be shaping up to be something along those lines.

I love it! So sneaky, so intriguing! Rich house, poor house... Matrimony?!?! A division from night one! An impossible task for two housemates on night two.... Bring. It. ON!!!

I cant stop thinking about that heaven and hell task on BBUK 09

That little video was actually pretty cool.

And I totally agree with that member in another thread that suggested the editing style might be a bit like BBUK this year. Those "glitchy" effects were so alike.

I definitely think we'll be seeing a mother being separated from her child, there's been too much mother/baby/children images and hints been dropped so far for there not to be.

edit: not saying bb produces are horrible people, could be 18 year old son who's quite attached to his mother, and mother who's quite attached to her son. fits in with their broard age range thing

I think we will be seeing something to do with Marriage - the annoucement references "Holy Matrimony" and "Other Half". Perhaps a married couple, with the wife on the Have Not side and the husband with the Have's?

they do the bb twist
and then we all get disappointed
that's what it's all about

I'm really hoping not for this year though, it's looking promising, but so did the secrets twist last year...

This is Big Brother.
My fellow Australians, Big Brother is way to sensible to believe in superstition. But I do like the number '13'. And so in honor of this number, I've decided to make 2013, Lucky, FOR SOME. Big Brother understands there has been much discussion around the twist plotted for this years launch. And now I have my housemates safe in lock-down, I have decided to break my silence. On Monday 29th of July 2013, Sonia will introduce you to 12 new housemates. On night one, there will be division in the house. As some will be in, some will be halfway out. The house is Modern and opulent, but within the house lays the first twist. 12 seems a lonely number when you are not united. So holding matrimony would be just the trick. As my dear old mother used to say, Do one to others. I wonder if my housemates will be nice to their other halves. Human nature has always been Big Brothers obsession. Watching as these once strangers learn to live with the deprivation and reward of Big Brothers house. What is it like to live on handouts on the wealthy. Big Brother has decided it is time to find out. Listen carefully as Big Brother spells it out. This year housemates will be in, out and shaken all about. With 52 cameras you cannot be missed, there is no hiding from the Big Brother twist. Until Monday the 29th, That is all. Sincerely, Big Brother.
