Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

It's the most adult of this film series. While it doesn't all come together as nicely packaged as the excellent popcorn film the first was, it's definitely got a lot of good stuff going on here. The final hour is worth the price of admission alone. Honestly the best special effects to date with out exception. The Skyscraper sequence is incredibly well done.
The film retains the humor of the previous ones, but doesn't get as silly. Gone are humping and pissing robots ect. The high parents ect.

The 3D making bay slow down his action, leads to some truly amazing money shots. Hopefully even if he doesn't do any more work in 3D, that he learns from this. Although I personally hope he goes all out with a Bad Boys in 3D.

So yeah if you think you could like a transformers film, or at least liked the first, this is a good sequel and a damn spectacular action film. Gone is most of the shit that ruined the second film. I guess this is what happens when you start filming with more than 15 pages of script.

So yeah way better than the second. Visually better than the first, although as a complete film, I think the first works better. Although this being darker and grander in scale is very good. I think I might go see it again while it's still in fake IMAX 3D. As in the non museum Imax which sucks for films. The local theatre Imax is where the shit is at. Just see it again mainly for the last set of action scenes. Very Very spectacular.

Well it was fun but I went in a 2D screening 3D can go get farked..... It's a gimmick and it never works properly for me.

They didn't need to do that gratuitous shot of Carly getting out the car did they? Too much time on her and especially with this the 3rd movie in the series a bit late to do exposition on a new character. Stuff that. and did I mention the off putting scene of her getting out the car? I wasn't that thrilled..

And loved all the NASA stuff and Apollo 11 and the music here showed just how much of a big deal that was for humans.... Walking on the Moon.... Grandiose music during these scenes.

And did I get this right over many years some humans had sided with the Decepticreeps?

What the?????

Yeah, happens in many wars. People side with the invaders, the bad guys. They think there's no chance of fighting against them. Would rather be on their side and be left alone.
It's like in the Matrix, the guy who sells out Morpheus and Neo. He see's no hope of winning and lets his self-fish desires sell out their own people.

Worried About The Boy, the story of Boy George, currently on Showtime but available on DVD too.

The movie is set in 1980 in London and is the story of BG and his rise and fall. I was living in London at that time and went to a few of the clubs they showed (Blitz) The owner of the Blitz, Steve Strange was friends with the family that I was nannying for so I met him and his cronies in passing a few times.

I do think they could have thrown in a bit more music and the flash forwards to BG in the throes of heroin addiction were kind of strange.

Still worth a watch though imo.

From late 70's to the mid 80's there was so many music styles including Punk, Ska, New Wave and New Romantic, I loved them all. My favourite bands were The Stranglers, Buzzcocks, Siouxie and the Banshees, The Ramones, The Saints, The Dead Kennedy's, Spandeau Ballet, Duran Duran, Fun Boy Three, XTC, Human League, Bananarama,The Specials, PIL, Madness, Adam and the Ants and the list goes on.

I still listen to these.

Hopefully I can catch the movie soon.

The Punisher

The 1989 one with Dolph Lundgren.

This is in the area of bad but watchable. Sitting round with friends on a bad movie night, drinking and making fun is probably the way to watch it. Dolph grunts his lines and looks like he's in a heroin daze for the entire film. Due to his being blond, his six o'clock shadow is painted on with what looks like a few wipes of shoe polish.

He literally looks as if he was just pushed awake from the brink of over dosing to stumble through his lines and sit there.

The action, well he just shoots people, stabs people and blows the occasional thing up. Nothing exceptional. There's a long scene where he spends a while just shooting up slot machines in an empty bar after everyone runs out. He also lives in a sewer which he enjoys driving his motorcycle through.

Plot wise, what it did get right is, it didn't waste time on an Origin story. There's some flash backs but basically throws you in 5 years after his family was killed. Where he's established and known to police as the punisher. So big props for that. More films need to take this lead. It's like Indiana Jones, did they need to establish him as a character no. He just came on screen fully formed. Was great! Similar to James bond in Doctor No. He was was james bond instantly.

Unfortunately the rest of the plot is something to do with japanese gangsters kiddnapping the children of the normal gangsters who the Punisher has been taking out over the years. He weakened them, so then even worse ones could come in. It doesn't really matter and isn't explored. There man bad guy is a Japanese Lady and her mute hot Caucasian Daughter. Both who like wearing tight black leather.

Interesting film. Had fun in the context watching it though. Never got unwatchable, although maybe if you were not watching it in a fun make fun of the film, rewind to funny stuff way it might be boring. It is also in the realm of, Action movie from the past which is well below the standard of direct to video ones today.

I saw Bridesmaids yesterday - seriously funny funny movie. After I left - before the credits ran - I remembered someone said something about after the credits, what was it?

Rebel Wilson cracks me up - as did everyone else in the movie. :)

I saw it with my son lol. We were both laughing our heads off.
