The intruder seems like a douche

That is it!
Finally - he is like a porn star. The pool guy, new age wank.
And oh god no, he's going to rap isn't he.

This is what Leo said,
"It sounds like a real dicky thing to say but I get away with a lot of personality faults kinda looking the way I do."

Those were exactly his words btw, I just rewatched the video where he said this.
IMO no one gets away with personality faults, attractive or not.

i have absolutely no problem thats hes not originally from AU. who gives a shit. first impressions i do think hes dull so far. see what happens if he last a while.

I like him, to me there is nothing not to like about him

He is either an idiot or full of crap - if you moved to a new country,
well one of the first things you SHOULD do, is watch LOTS of LOCAL TV.
Local papers, magazines, radio and TV - it all gives you a sense of the culture, and what the people enjoy.

You learn the ways of a country quickly through TV, news, chat shows, locally made TV, even adds inform you.
So - he's actually being a rude dickhead saying he's never watched our TV.

He's been here for 7 years. Longer than Priya, Aisha, Layla... Who knows if he had a tv when he first moved here. Not like tv helps with anything at all anyway.

No offense but when I first moved here I relied on newspapers and actually talking to people to learn about the culture. Aussie tv for the most part is either US shows or cheap knock offs of overseas franchises and I sussed that out within a week, if not less. Thank God I didn't rely on them to form my opinion of this country.

Maybe he used to watch tv but when he had his major health kick he didn't watch as much anymore. I don't think it is a lie.

Honestly, I don't much care what his personality is. This is the first time I have had some decent eye candy in the house and I just want to lap that up!

Super mega douche.

I call BS on the no TV thing, and on how he's acting like he doesn't know how anything on BB works. Like you'd audition and MAKE IT on a TV show you never watch.
Although nowadays you can easily watch TV without having a TV. What I call bullshit on is why is he so desperate to be on TV if he doesn't have one?

Much as I like Leos self deprecating sense of humor and he does in actuality seem to be a reasonable good guy, what irritates the hell out of me is his lifestyle preachiness to a group of total strangers without feeling them out first. Just because his lifestyle may work for him he has to appreciate the fact that its not going to be everyones cup of tea and to just plunge in the pool headfirst seems a bit off. He's just come on too strong with that for my taste.

Also he shaves himself....as a guy I just find that weird...I personally know no one that vain, and though he is a fellow Canadian with exactly the same accent Im hedging my bets.

Actually, let's talk about this "transformation" of his.

In today's episode, when he was talking to Sandra, she was telling him about how she always got the "you have a great personality" card from guys, and it frustrated her, because she thought it negated her looks in some way, as if it was one or the other.

Leo, in turn said that he got the opposite his whole life: He was always the good looking guy but girls thought he was a douche.

Now I don't know about y'all, but that before photo was not flattering, fit or unfit. I call bullshit on so much of what he says. I am NOT drinking what he is pouring.

Yeah I pretty much don't care what he says. I'm just looking at him. I am, for once in my life, being THAT shallow!

25 million people in Australia & for BB Aust they pick a Canadian as a HM/intruder >> fuck you BB... another nail for your coffin...
I think they picked him because accents are sexy, he's good looking, he's part female (I'm being snide, referring to the yoga, meditation and metaphysical/new-ager bs) all done to get the women fighting over him and the men trying to top him. All set up I think.

I'm into him.

Yes the spiritual bullshit is a bit over the top but I love watching guys who cherry pick the positive, it is an amazing skill to have - an act or not, 99% of the world can't even fake it so I couldn't care less if it is genuine or not.

Hope he goes far, and I hope he continues annoying the shit out of people while still being ultra positive - it will drive them insane.

So when did you discover SBS and the ABC?
Valuable resources.
I used to be a volunteer English tutor for non English speaking migrants and refugees, anyone can do this, training is provided.
And TV helps enormously with language, and customs, culture.
A lot of the women don't venture out much, and you go to their homes (and they feed you treats:))
TV used as a source of information can be enormously helpful, and our little soaps do give a view of life here quite foreign to many cultures.

You had the advantage of the same language and a similar culture.
Don't knock the ABC & SBS, amazing resources, all those kids shows help new settlers adults and kids.

Yeah, exactly, doesn't add up. And he isn't good looking now - is he?
Sorry but he just looks like any average guy, with a weird looking body. Dion was a much better specimen.

what irritates the hell out of me is his lifestyle preachiness to a group of total strangers

The preaching would drive me to drink - his share of alcohol
He shaves, what his whole body?
Hell what a shit date he would be. He would take forever to get ready, and then by the time you get jiggy - prickles everywhere.

I discovered ABC when I had a kid. SBS when I wanted to watch the Tour de France. Other than the rare times I hear that someone I'm interested in is going to be on Q&A or someone tells me to check out a show on iView, that's the extent that it's turned on in our house. And yet somehow I still manage to function. I even get the yearly letter telling me I'm eligible for Aussie citizenship lol

To your other points, of course tv can be a big help to an ESL immigrant but Leo isn't one nor does he have a child so all of that isn't applicable in his case.

And again we have no idea if he had a tv when he first moved here and made the decision, as many do, to ditch it because they'd rather spend their time doing more productive things. Two families that I know of at my son's kinder don't have a tv . One family made the choice before their child was born because they realised they weren't connecting as a couple and were just zoning out at the end of each day and the other would rather have their child do other things instead of overdosing on Peppa Pig. Yet their kids seem to be doing just fine.

Tv isn't the be all end all for everyone and it's possible, preferable for many, to learn about a culture by actually going out and immersing themselves in it instead of sitting on their couch. I've done it in other countries where I didn't know the language at first nor did I even have a tv in the apartments I was living in so to question why a person who does speak the language wouldn't own a tv just seems bizarre to me.

Only 7 years, pick someone who's been here all their life

Aw, did you try out and get rejected?

Someone's already pointed this out, but there are other foreigners on this year. There were some last year, and I believe the year before. Is it just because he sounds like an American to you? Is that where the hostility comes from? Canada and Australia are very similar in culture, so I wonder how you feel about Priya.

It's so funny, because Canada - and Canadians in general - is extremely open to foreigners. My mum (Australian born and raised) has told me a lot about how Australia isn't really the same. It's up to people like you to shape that, because that's currently a stereotype people have of the country. Just telling you as someone who lives elsewhere.

Kiwis and Indians probably aren't seen as 'foreign' (beside the xenophobic drop-kicks which are found in any country) by your regular aussie given that we have so many of them living here already, particularly in the major metropolitan areas.

Whereas you really can't say the same about Canadians. That might have something to do with with the 'nonchalant' acceptance of them I suppose.

Leo ughhh. My least favourite thing is how he's all like 'check me out, I meditate' like it's so special...it's like going on and being proud that you pray (how quirky and interesting! Such a deep person) Heaps of people do it...it's not so special and rare.
