LOL, I know. But you can buy Valium and god knows what else over the counter here anyway. I even noticed the Kwik-E-Mart next door has Viagra right there on the checkout counter! (not something I need, btw)

Life is good. I signed the purchase/sale agreement for the rooftop shack and will do a few legals and get the plans off to the Sangkat (council) office this week. Settlement is a week from tomorrow. Apparently building approval only takes a few days so demo work should start in about two weeks. No fuss no muss eh?

Such an exciting time for you!

I was actually telling a co worker about your life changing adventure today. He loves it there. He also mentioned he had sex on tap while he holidayed there. Made me wonder, how is your love life outside all that pussy?

Interesting times indeed. I have blown my original apartment budget out of the water, but I'm pushing on regardless. I wish Sarah Beeny was here.

Sorry to hear... it does sound stressful but I hope there's a solution for you. This could prove to be a good opportunity for you.

Yeah honestly I think that was mild confabulation on my part as although I have some amazing memories from my twenties and I had a lot of fun it's not all good and I guess goes with the territory of not having your life in order. Umm hopefully someday I feel like I do!

that said, this decade did give me my son which is pretty much the best thing ever bar none.
 
Happy Grand Final Day!

My partner has loved having back to back grand finals, me on the other hand, gives me some extra time to relax and read my book, while he screams at the TV like a man possessed.

Laundry is of course on hold. We (when I say we I mean he) have painted and tiled. Now it is just down to assembling a shelf and dressing and we are done.

Oh my God! The price of tiles!! $700!! Not including grout! Who would have thunk it?!

It has gone from a 70's laundry to something quite lovely.

How is your palace coming along, Timmy? Got some plans drawn up yet? And how is our little Maxi boy?

Oh my Lord Coops! TV shout out!! Black Sails! It is fucking awesome.

Your laundry is doing better than my shack... but then it's not exactly mine yet. The first quote came in from the builder at nearly twice my original budget. But some things were ridiculous. $6900 for painting??? I asked him if that was a typo and meant to be $690. It's only 55 sqm! It's now out of the quote and I'll find some locals to do it for under $1000.

Anyway the subway tiles for the bathroom are out, replaced by boring white square tiles. 30L hot water is out and just an electric instant shower (like most people here have, if they have hot water at all), and a few other compromises. There were only two things I insisted on keeping: the raked ceilings (3.4m at the highest point) and the cement tiled flooring throughout to give it classic that Cambodian French-Colonial feeling.

Settlement is tomorrow!

My furball collection is coming along nicely and will be seeing the vet this week due to the holiday on Friday. They have been spending time lounging around in my place which is nice apart from the odd flea.
 
Oh FFS! Agent had told me I could settle today... but what do you know? The local market being closed was a bad sign, so of course the bank is also closed... and I have a sneaking suspicion the real estate agent is closed as well but I'm not going to bother calling.

The holiday was Friday. FRIDAY. Gah.

Good Moanin faux T thread!

I am about to embark on my rostered week off. Not quite a week, but 6 days will do me. Nicely.

I am going to see The Magnificent 7 with my son today. My father loved westerns, so his memory will be close.

Thanks Lalas! But there's another day (or two) yet. Still waiting for the title transfer. Things were slowed down by the long weekend. Can't apply for building approval until at least the 20th anyway so it's a moot point really.

I designed the layout but I paid the builder a large sum of money to have the plans drawn up by his "designer" (there are pages of them showing power point and lighting locations, plumbing, floor and wall finishes etc). But yes I am very happy with the way it's looking.

Will go with the subway tiles in the bathroom after all, only $75 more and looks classier than square white.

Might go shopping for a microwave today.

My partner has the day off today, and we will hopefully finish the laundry! If we meet our goal we will be heading out tonight to eat too much, drink too much and listen to some live music, and if we don't we will be heading out to eat too much, drink too much and listen to so live music :laugh:
