reading the book the thorn birds. a very depressing book. romance written in those words comes across like a cruel teasing obsession. a hell more heated in the dusty realms of the australian outback.

i'm assuming that the thorn birds is a story old enough and well known enough that i don't need to copy and paste the plot from wikipedia.

but if not please tell me and i will rectify the situation at once.
 
i find some similarities between the thorn birds and vertigo. about obsession mistaken for love. how it can drive one beyond the realms of human endurance. the cruel games played.

I just finished reading the book Vertigo was based on. I'll try and post my thoughts in the Vertigo thread.

Another thing I thought about vertigo is
the whole thing about fake personas and how it can be so easy to fall for someone even if they are not real
.

Though to be honest I'm struggling to think of many nominees because not many people have posted here this year. But you'll think of something.

There is no resentment. Categories are based on nominations. I have no say on who will win what. Some awards will be scraped as well if there are no nominees for them.
 
Listened to the two different versions of strong as steel.

I was prepared and willing to like the five starr version. But their take on it was too slow and the singer didn't have the proper soul to inspire me. It felt rather tepid.

Tina carried that song imo.
 
finished reading the thorn birds. it turned into something more than love/obsession, it became a story about three generation of women and their life in the harsh Australian outback and the wider world. the mini-series really didn't touch on that like the book did.
