I'm not so sure that this is because Tony Abbott is doing a poor job as our Leader but rather due to the negative media attention he's been getting ever since being elected. There is no denying that the man is not 'the sharpest PM in Parliament House" but I think he has done a lot of good and has good intentions. Personally I would prefer Julie Bishop to be leading if the Liberal Government remains in power but I think that we should give Labour another go now that they have had a proper chance to get themselves sorted out.
What nonsense. Murdoch owns 70% of our press. Every major news paper at the last election bar one endorsed Tony Abbott. It is his terrible performance which has put everyone on side. He had amazing good will in the press.
His problem is, he is a right wing conservative ideologue. Who was good in opposition where he had no real power or responsibility. He spent all this time living out his right wing fantasies of what he would do.
He got into power and could not transition to being a leader because all he has ever knowing is being an attack dog bully.
Then with policies. As he is such a right wing ideologue he had to trick the Australian public into thinking he was not. That's why he made a stupid number of promises and statements of what his government would be that he didn't keep. Nor did he ever intend to keep. He believed he deserved to be in power because he knew best. It didn't matter what he said to get there.
So he got elected as a much more moderate candidate who based on how viciously he went after the previous government for a kind of lie. Promised he would keep every promise he made. He alleviated fears. Then broke a shit load of promises. People aren't stupid, they can see that he lied to get elected.
Then as soon as he got in, there was no easing into pushing his conservative agenda. He went down hill fast because he hit the ground running wanting to transform Australia into something people don't want and didn't vote for.
The big problem is and this is why the are getting rid of him, is that because his views for the direction of the country aren't reality based. They are based on ideology. He is incapable of listening. Look at their economic policies? Every expect says he is crazy for doing what he is doing. Look at climate change. He ignores all the evidence and expert advice. He is destroying local jobs and industries to secure free trade agreements because that's ideologically good. Even though Australia always is worse off under them. He is trying to destroy universal healthcare. Yet all the research says we don't have that problem. They want to put in these co-payment policies with out even analaysing if they will work. It's all ideology. He shut down efforts to catch corporate tax cheats siphoning billions over seas. While cracking down and making the poor poorer. Ideology that what ever is good for business is good for everyone.
Trickle down economics doesn't work. That experiment is over, done and dusted. Yet while destroying jobs and industries. He's then easing abilities for companies to hire cheap overseas labor. Where are Australians going to get jobs? He's then working to make education out of reach for many through increased costs. He doesn't care because ideology is business comes first.
Look at him trying to force religion into schools?
Him slashing science funding and wrecking environmental protection laws.
Look at him trying to prop up export industries which are going to forever be in decline and doing so at the expense of the rest of the economy.
There is so much and this is why people turned against him. This is why the media has turned against him. Even the right wing business folk know he is too extreme.
The reason the 'knighthood' got such attention is purely because it is basically the simplest demonstration of how Abbott thinks. He has no ability to assess if something is a bad idea if he thinks of it. He doesn't care to consult with others. To get another opinion. He genuinely was surprised that people had a problem with it and mocked him.
His press club address last week. The reason this did him in is because he said the same old shit he has been saying. He can't change or adapt. He doesn't think there is an issue with his views and policies. He thinks the problem is everyone elses.
He can't see the world past his own thoughts and views. That is why he must go.
Name one good thing he has done? Name one aspect of Australia's global standing or an economic, a standard of living metric or anything that hasn't gotten worse?
Oh, all Labors fault.....
Nothing he does is good or bad intention. It's just a failed ideology. The cloest thing to 'good intention' is that he really believes it. THAT IS THE PROBLEM AND WHY HE SHOULD GO.
