Sorry to hear that @Mooseface it must be awful. So, you can't go back because of the limits on the numbers of people returning? Is there some kind of queue? Do you have other family in Aus to be there with your mum?

It's awful in this respect.
My partners mum passed in January in Scotland. He wasn't granted an exemption to go back for her funeral.
He was furious when he read recently that Ed Sheeran was allowed to come to Australia from the UK to go to that music producers funeral and sing at it.
One rule for some, and another for everyone else. It's bad!
Hope all goes well with your mum.
We were meant to go back in June 2020 for a month to see our families, and that was cancelled 😞
If you're a celebrity or sportsperson you can go wherever you want!🤬

Someone sent me that to Facebook. I think it was more a case of wishful thinking.
But, our local member here emails us updates. In her email she said, when hairdressers and beauticians are allowed to open, there will be the 4metre restrictions, plus no more than five clients are allowed in the salon at one time!
Well, there are seven of us that work there. The salon is way big enough for all of us to work at one time with the four metre space in between us, so I don't know how that's going to work with clients all desperately calling us all to see when they can come. It's going to be crazy!
Anyway, it does sound like once the vaccine percentages hit what they want it to hit, we should be able to reopen mid-October.

If all seven of you can't have clients at the same time, can you open earlier and later perhaps so everyone can work? Shuffle shifts a bit? Or divide the store into two? Or just have a couple working from home if possible. I got a haircut from a barber on the footpath who was otherwise closed when we had a lockdown here. He was like "psst... want a haircut?" and I was like YES!!!!

Yes, we're going to have to stagger our days and hours for a few weeks.
The way I look at it is, they've waited this long, another week or two won't kill them. There's nothing we can do about it. We have to make sure everyone is safe.

The man who looks after the bins on bin day in our building approached me 2 weeks ago. He said you're a hairdresser, aren't you, and guarded , I said yes. He then asked if I could give him a quick haircut, and I told him I couldn't, and he suggested down the back of the garages, and I told him I had long term clients who I have had to say no to. There was no way I was going to break the rules for someone who is a regular client, let alone one who isn't.
But, I bet there have been a lot who have.
(Requesting a head job down the back of the garages could have been questionable to some who didn't know the actual conversation!)
