kxk

SAPIOSEXUAL
Coronavirus....COVID19......we need a thread this is so overwhelming, everyone help each other
Could this change the world???eventually, having a common enemy could possibly unite our world? That is what I am hoping/praying for.

It is confusing and crazy. Be kind to people in shops they are having a horrible time
Supermarkets are like hell.

No idea about supermarket policies, woolworths seemed to still have online options???and early morning for disabled and elderly - my friend did it yesterday at coles
I having been going about my life normally, but now...I am in a high risk category, auto immune disease...I think I need to hibernate
So ....share any helpful stuff here, express your concerns, and support each other, post fun stuff etc

THE GOOD

Italians - singing to each other and together, apparently pop songs and opera, see youtube
Spanish - making music together from anything, pots and pans, and some real instruments, and real musicians playing concerts, again see youtube
Spanish - applauding their medicos when they come onto streets, thunderous and beautiful

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Streaming live performances - that were cancelled for actual people to attend
Next one is thursday night, they are so overjoyed at the thousands enjoying their music

Live streaming by everyone
Chris Martin
Keith Urban with wife
And more......

Our health system
Thank your lucky stars you live in a country with decent health systems for all = lots of testing
USA is fucked, they have nothing like we and UK and others have, they have no hope of testing huge numbers they need to

Aussie Gov health website:

WA government seems to be on the ball

THE BAD
Sco mo is a moron, I hope we have better brains leading him, he is late on everything and I have no faith in him or libs to get us through disasters
CONFUSION, mixed messages, nowhere to find what is open or not, that website isn't great
Still trying to find out if Woolworths lets you shop online still

THE UGLY
Supermarket pigs WTF is wrong with some people

So come here with tips, frustrations, job loss/help, or just to whinge

Please share any good tips for getting staples, toilet paper, hand sanitisers, pasta, rice and olive oil is on my shopping list

Since this outbreak began getting worse, I became more sparing with what toilet paper we had, and have already learned we "over pull!". We haven't used half of what we usually would have by now.
I've become more sparing with everything - just in case it becomes unavailable.
I've always cooked too much and have left overs and I keep them for the end of the week and manage to make another meal out of them - it makes things quite interesting as there's always something in the cupboard to pull two different lots of left over together, also you'll never get that same meal again as there are never the same sort of left overs to make something out of.
I usually shop monthly so I am used to making what I have in the cupboards last four weeks. BUT, my weekly veggie shopping stunned me when I saw what these selfish, greedy people are doing in the supermarkets. It's outrageous.
When I do my Woolies order I usually order on a Tuesday and have it delivered a week later, usually all the windows are open with lots of time slots available, last Friday I checked to see what was happening and already four windows were closed so I quickly made the order to be delivered this Saturday, thankfully my partner will be home to receive it as I'll be at work.
I checked on Tuesday to see if things were back to normal and now all windows are closed so I'll need to go to the shops on a weekly basis and just hope to be able to get what I need. Obviously there's not a loo roll in town, all disinfectant and hand sanitisers are gone, so I'll have to find a way of compromising.
We are vegetarians, thankfully the one thing left on the shelf were the plant based alternatives, so I might need to grab a few of those before they get ransacked by those who feel the need to clean out everything.
It seriously is a worrying time for everyone, but with an unselfish attitude and being consciously aware of washing our hands and keeping a safe distance away from each other, we'll get through it.
Maybe it's a time to reflect on our consumption and value what we have in life and be grateful for the life we had before this pandemic.

Not only Scomo but Daniel Andrews as well.

Shut the schools and universities down.

You know how many people I have seen wearing masks in the CBD and coughing/sneezing on public transport? Enough that it concerns me.

People are stupid in the way they have gutted supermarket shelves of toilet paper, tissues, sanitisers, fresh meat and produce... but the real blame lies with Sco Mo not effectively educating the public on the best course of action. People are scared and need guidance.

I have several friends with medical conditions that make them high risks, cancer and lung diseases
So one tried the early shopping today at coles, she said it was fine, got what she needed except no hand sanitisers or masks
I wonder if I could shop for them?
Anyway, we are lucky, we have a small market close open 3 days a week for meat and fish, and huge discount fruit & vegies
Apparently other big markets had no shoppers last week, Vic Market etc so try your markets

I can't believe I heard on the radio today that a bus load of people traveled 5 hours and stripped supermarkets in another town to grab what they could for themselves, that's just plain disgusting behaviour!

We're booked to go back to the UK for a holiday in June, that is very doubtful now, but we booked it back in September and have insurance. The car rental place have already emailed to say all cancellations will be wavered, Emirates have emailed giving us a link to latest developments, Flight Center have said they're dealing with people booked to travel in the next week or so, and to hang in there.
I have a few clients overseas right now who'll be panicking with the news today telling them all to return as soon as they can.
I have a client who's visiting from France who had only been here less than 24 hours when she got a text to say her trip from Singapore back to Paris had been cancelled, and she has to find another way back. It's a nightmare. I'm just glad I have two and a half months to sort this out.
I've also got a client in panic mode as she has to have dialysis and is pretty much in poor health who cancelled as she's too scared to come to the salon and is self isolating for a few weeks in the hope it'll die down.

...what gets me is that Australia usually has the ’normal’ influenza on average per year that causes 3,500 deaths... about 18,000 hospitalisations and 300,000 GP consultations each year... also pneumonia, especially in people that are vulnerable such as the elderly and other in the "at risk" group... (quoted from this website below)...

...so far we have had only 6 deaths across Australia due to the Virus so why such panic?... the ’normal’ flu is just as deadly (granted... it’s probably easier to catch the Corona Virus) but if everyone is staying home then technically it should pass rather quickly hopefully... I put the shopping panics directly into the media’s laps... people like that complete idiot ‘Koschi” on ‘Sunrise’ on Channel 7 to name one... my view on him and what Channel 7 are doing are able to be read on this link below...

...so no use in repeating it all...

...if you are isolating yourselves then how can you possibly catch it?... it’s only spread around with mainly one on one direct contact... people are now scrubbing their entire homes with all types of disinfectants... why?... it’s ONLY spread by direct contact!... cue the media telling us to now panic and disinfect everything that doesn’t move!... (if I’m wrong in this... please feel free to correct me)... then cue the panic merchants of the public starting to clean Supermarket shelves of cleaning products!... the media should be ashamed of themselves!...

...my sweet darling wife and myself are not ‘going out all of the time’ type of people except for a couple of nights now and then so it won’t be such a biggie for us to stay indoors for 2-3 weeks... stay safe people and I hope that you don’t catch anything... cheers.

...by the way kxk... you’ve started a great thread here and good on you for starting it... it’s good that we have somewhere to air our views about this Virus... kudos to you my good friend!... cheers.

...it amazes me to hear that some people are hoping for a refund at some Supermarkets because they bought too many rolls of toilet paper!... those moronic imbeciles!... I hope that their toilets clog up from overuse... ingrates!... I cannot stand some people like you that are such pigs!... go around to the old people in your neighbourhood and give them away free!... oh that’s right... you’re selfish greedy pigs... you will probably sell them to the most vulnerable people for about $5 a roll to recoup your money!... you should be ashamed of yourselves!... do the right thing... give them away to the old people that you shoved aside to get your supplies... ah!... who am I kidding?... you’re still the same greedy pigs...

...and I’m sick and tired of hearing that ‘Gogglebox‘ Ad where Anastasia says “I don’t care about toilet paper!... I went and got 12 (or whatever amount) packets of toilet rolls already!” and then laughs... (or words to that effect)... a little word Anastasia... you are not funny luv... shut your stupid mouth!...

...it’s a shame when the behaviour of these type of people are shown to people overseas or on TV generally... especially those original 2 women that were fighting that black woman for the toilet paper... if I was a judge... they would’ve been in jail for 5 years each just for embarrassing us Worldwide!... those type of people disgust me... cheers.

Haha. Is there anything else that disgusts you? Just so we know. Good to see you're back and full of vigour ;)

GOOD STUFF
Good for me at least, being a news junkie, and too cheap to pay....
Check your favourite big newspaper, most of them are giving people free access during the plague situation
They usually make you pay for:
NY Times, Washington Post etc

Toilet paper
I got a big lot from a $2 shop, they had people grabbing from the millions of serviettes ....missing the nice fat packs of toilet "sheets"
Just nice soft sheets made for those toilets, like public/restaurant ones that have square dispenser things.
And tissues $1 pack from Salvos

I am pissed off this shopping frenzy of crazy trailer trash caught me low on household stocks as we were moving house
I usually have a bulk spare stash of triple length toilet paper, I just like having a lot of loo paper
And lots of pasta and rice.....

Freezer sales must be doing well

Good for Females
We are dying at almost half the rate of males, hmm
usually elderly, except in the stupidest country on earth....USA, , they are wiping out middle aged men mostly
This is in the good because hopefully all of Trump's dumb supporters will vanish?!?
Joke, no joke, USA is fucked....because they are very uncivilized, they have no health services in place to deal with this
They will allow millions to die........health workers have no proper equipment, they have hardly any tests, and do not have any kind of public service like most civilized countries.

Going to start isolating, after my last trip out there today to pick up my friend from hospital

Puzzles....

WTF will they do in prisons? If it got hold it would wipe them out
And military and police, big groups of people who cannot separate by distance

NT, yes they have a vulnerable population with underlying health issues and little access to medical help, close the borders

LOLs
Tassie....the latest headlines, ie WE HAVE A MOTE

The US is a basket case. In early March I left to go to the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament, just one step below a Grand Slam which draws most of the big names....and the fuckers cancelled it after all my planning that I set in motion last September. I was in Las Vegas and they started closing buffets, then shut down the basketball tournaments...then ice hockey and basketball and now they are closing all the casinos. The hotels no longer serve free breakfasts or if they do they give it to you in a paper bag to go. The hotel we stayed at on the way down the lobby was open and everything was normal. The same hotel on the way back the lobby was closed and the desk clerk dealt with us through a window with a slot in it to pass out the hotel keys and to sign the paperwork. Every day more and more restrictions, the supermarkets are stripped of canned goods, tuna, pasta, rice, water, meat, potatoes, soup, toilet paper and tissues as people inspired by non stop media coverage hoard everything they can get. Then when I returned to Canada today my wife and I have to go into 2 week self isolation and are not allowed to go out anywhere despite the fact I was actually less at risk down in the States than I was where I live.

Palm Springs California, usually a busy resort bustling with tourists and golfers and partygoers and at this time tennis fanatics from Los Angeles and elsewhere was a ghost town as they shut all the bars and restricted restaurants to pick up and delivery only, closed the casinos and restricted gatherings to 10 people or less. You could shoot a cannon down the street without hitting anyone and there was only one other couple staying in my hotel which was a midsize.

Canada is much the same and getting more restrictive by the day as they find new things to close down continually and prices begin to skyrocket and our dollar collapses. I wonder if the cure in the end will not turn out to be worse than the disease......If they dont begin clearing things up within a couple of months there are so many people now not working that desperation may set in and the rule of law may disappear as people begin to fend for themselves and take what they cannot buy as a huge number of people barely have enough savings to cover next months rent. Just a hypothesis but is all this worth it for a flu that kills around 1.5% more people than the regular flu? Not that I want anyone to die mind you but still.

...well you’ll all be pleased to know I’m sure... our lack of toilet paper crises is finally over... our daughter and her husband run their own Caravan Repair business and rang us up and asked us how we’re going for toilet paper... we told them of our daily early morninings everyday to Woolies and Coles and standing (sitting in my powered wheelchair in my case) in the early pensioner lines... then being allowed in and being in the back of the (no matter how early we went) line always missing out on the toilet paper...

...well (this is where the good parts start)... we said that we had no luck... she then said “don’t worry about it... we have heaps of rolls at work stored up because we have to supply them for our workers use each day!... we’re closing down for a few weeks because some of our supplies come from China so it’ll be closed no doubt for quite a while... on the weekend we’ll drop you off enough rolls to tide you over!”...

...it was like we won Lotto!... how about that?... when they get here I’m going to hug and kiss them and... oh wait!... that’s right... I will ‘socially distancedally’ thank them... erm... that’s right... yeah!... that’s what I’ll do lol!... god bless their golden little hearts!... my bum owes them big time!... cheers.
