Competition type game. What's not to like about it?
That was my far-flung theory when I heard about the cluster outbreaks in those high rises in Melbourne. People being forced to live together like rats in a shoe box... what could possibly go wrong?
It makes sense to have high rises of such density in places like Singapore where space is scarce, but Australia is vast. Arid areas can be made fertile with enough foresight, will and planning.
"Silly idea..." is putting it nicely. It is disrespectful to the community at large and borders on the criminal.I think in the current climate any protest is just a really silly idea. It is just putting people unncessarily at risk, who then risk taking covid home to vulerable people. And I agree no matter what the cause all these things should be treated the same. we are actually in agreement on this.
Same here where we are in Sydney, Converse. Every house that goes down another block of units go up, it's really frustrating, too many people, no change in infrastructure to accommodate the hoards now flocking here.I don't know what's happening where you are mate but here in Melbourne it's happening everywhere everyday. It's sad that it seems the only people that are purchasing any older single storey properties is by greedy developers which then all get bulldozed and turned into either one large double storey house or multiple double storey units on that old block of land. Gone are the days when people just bought a good old original single storey home and then just lived in it.
As with high rise apartments they are also spreading all around the outer Melbourne suburbs all the time. I don't think it's ever going to stop. Well this COVID-19 pandemic has probably slowed them down somewhat for the time being.
I have lived in the same house and area for many years and I have now noticed that because so many new residents are now living in high rise apartments around here which don't have any green space area to enjoy like the old properties had. They now all migrate to the local parks like you wouldn't believe. I have never seen so many people at my local park all walking dogs and exercising at the same time. It seems like the park is pretty much at full capacity now and there are plans to build even more highrise apartments near this park in the next few years. I am quite worried because I don't know who is more at fault the government or the local councils that are allowing all this development to go ahead. I mean just from my own observation with all this high density apartment living where everyone there all owns a dog etc. The local parks will not be enough for everyone to share them at the same time in a few more years. Well I tell you I am glad that i'm not living in one of those high rise shoe boxes that's for sure!

Anti-lockdown protesters have vowed to continue taking to Melbourne's streets, as three people faced court on Saturday night over their involvement in the controversial rally earlier in the day.www.theage.com.au
Protests apparently SA and WA as well. I am unsure why in SA considering there is never been a lockdown here the way other places have had and nobody wearing masks.![]()
