I love Max. Just Max. Not Maxwell or Maximilian.
BUT FOR A BOY, DAMNIT.
Why not Maxine Andrea?
Named are derived from the same source, I think. A Maxine can still honour a Maxwell. Hell, Even Maxine Drew would be fine. I don't care how crazy your middle name is. Makes for a good story, but MaxWELL is for boys. End of.

apparently maxwell is her husbands middle name, and its his mums maiden name. so i see why they wanted to use it but not on a girl, save it for if they have a boy? or yea maxine still honours maxwell.
i dont know if you guys saw the girl on the voice but her name was Karise and i love it now, its my new favourite name. but its really strange ive never heard it before. if i named a kid that, they'd go by the nickname "Kari" which is a bit more common?

I reckon Karise would get called Karissa a lot.
EDIT: Charisse is probably where Karise came from.

EDIT AGAIN: Or Cerise, the colour.

I quite like "Karise", I wouldn't like it shortened to "Kari" though.

my friend has 2 adopted children. well foster/adopted? anyway she just gives one of them a nickname as the name is pretty bad. its close enough to their real name that it makes sense but it doesnt have to be totally changed.
I tend to agree more with the article that its the visits and contact that make it hard. u never just adopt a blank slate. and it can be crushing to go on the family visits and have the "family" not show up or be too drunk. a lot of the time there will be relatives that disagree and its pretty scary. they can easily find out where the child is living and who you are e.t.c.
