The Fitbit Cult

Well a walk to and from Dick Smith later and I now have one.

So it says it tracks sleep automatically? So I don't have to use the app to begin or add sleep log?

That is something I am very interesting in seeing.

which did you get?

Ok it's time for the steps of shame - well probably for only me I suspect mine is much lower than you guys.

I don't have a Fitbit but I have a pedometer of sorts, my average steps for the last week was 4,580

Post yours.

I'm a bit lost so far. I expected some kind of instruction manual, but I've had to google everything. Managed to get it onto my wrist and synced to my phone though so I should be on the right track now.

It says I've taken 1449 steps so far, which is possibly right as it's going up by one every time I wave my arm around.

The calorie counter is way out of whack though, it says 2302 burned and I've done nothing (apart from waving my arm around).

Yeah I am disregarding everything for today on mine. start fresh tomorrow and see.

Mine had walking distance and calories from the second I turned it on.

It keeps track of how many times I've gone up and down stairs though.

I'm sure the fitbit can do a lot of things. But can it tell you what to do when you find a crime on the sea?

Apparently the Charge HR isn't actually waterproof. It's resistant but not advised to wear in shower or swimming. The flex is though.

Your body burns a certain amount of calories per day even with no activity - so that's why it already had some for the day. I think it's calculated based on height / weight.

Aaaand I've got the Charge HR too @up_all_night - in the morning you can correct the sleep time of it isn't correct.

I've only had mine for a few days. I've only hit 10k steps one day. Every other day around 5000

Here is the manual for the charge HR:

Get a Fitbit, babe. I found it to be the ultimate motivator. It will improve your movement 10 fold. You are currently doing half the recommended steps needed to maintain basic fitness.

I usually average 15 000, but since the arthroscopy last Thursday week, I dropped to 7000 - 7500, because I seem to have a mental breakdown if I go under 7000. I woke up Friday and could barely walk, which suggests I am over doing it post surgery, so I have taken off my Fitbit and I won't be putting it back on to track movement until I am 100% cleared to move freely.

I put it on to track my sleep last night. I expected an awful night given I have been laid up on the couch doing NOTHING since Friday.

I was surprised with the result.

Did you work out the toggle?

I swear to God, I had never heard that word in my life!!!!

I wear mine on my non dominate arm, it gives you the choice in settings.

I find the stepper quite accurate.

lol @Trala , I love that it comes with toggles and dongles.
I haven't worked out the sleep bit yet, it still says no sleep logged.
I put mine on my non dominant arm too, it felt less intrusive.
I agree with you about motivation - the step counting is the main reason I got one, I reckon it will push me if I have a number to aim for. I don't want it to become an obsession (but it probably will).
