Does anyone watch Mary Queen of Shops on Gem on Thursdays? I like this show, she tries (and sometimes fails) to give failing shops a new business plan and a revamp of the shop.

I've caught the very end of one episode, but didn't really get what it was about?
Is it like that Gordon Ramsay show where he goes into a struggling restaurant and sorts them out (but without the continual barrage of obscenities in Mary's case)?
 
Yes, it's a bit like that. Some of the people she's trying to help are stubborn as, there was a woman a couple of weeks ago with a failing bakery who flat out refused to try any of Mary's suggestions (I think she applied to the show just for a free shop re-fit), others are a bit more malleable. It's good viewing, I quite like it - bit of drama, bit of tears, bit of a laugh at some of the hopeless shopkeepers.

I finally got a big TV, now i can watch digital - so can posters recommend what's good on the channels I now have acccess to please?
Mary Queen of Shops sounds like my kind of thing. I like trash, fluff, funny stuff,RTV and all the weird cable shows like Weeds.
Hate crime and hospital crap and anything like the EVENt/V/Flashforward.

Got any suggestions?

If you like old skool britcoms - 7Two.

kxk - you'll love gem & go. That's where you'll find the bachelor & bachelorette, Mary queen of shops (which follows a show - how filtly is you house) And lots of cooking shows on 7two.And for the boys in the house there is 7mate which has monster garage (apparently it's awesome, so my hubby says, but I think it's crap)

Thanks guys - I love my new tv, sooooooooo much, I feel like kissing it, and giving it it's own bed or something. It's going to take ages to figure out all the flash new stuff we can do.
With all of my robbery insurance coming through it's so exciting, we have technology again - to the max.
My new laptop is so very beautiful too.

I'm about to trash my laptop........Removing Windows 7 and putting XP on it..... Also noticed it handles a few of my older games with no problems so might use it for that too.
 
I think I'm in love with machines, is there something wrong with me?

Machines have become very seductive and satisfying lately...............finally. Have allways hated big fat TVs and pined for flat technology.
And just about every machine now has such interesting hidden quirks and extra stuff to discover

Did anyone watch Warnie last night? The thought of that show gives me the heebie jeebies, especially with Packer as his subject.

Why is it any different? Haven't they allwasy been smug and up themselves?

I hate 9, it seems to be the most sexist anti female station, with lots of big fat arsehole talentless egos - like richard wilkins for example, and freakin eddie and slimeball sam. It's dragging it's knuckles through the mud entertainment wise also, boring TV.

I think the only thing I watch on 9 is survivor, and I like quirky morning Carl (especially when creepy Lisa 'aint around)

Do you mean Carl and Lisa on the Today show? Why's she creepy?
 
I keep forgetting to tell you all that I am getting a Nielsen ratings box installed in the near future. I passed their stringent guidelines (no idea if they really have any) and get to wield power for the next 4 years if I want to.

Out of interest we are double income no kids whiteys in the 18 - 49 demographic.
 
I can honestly say, hand on heart, that it will not be happening.

I don't do prime time 7 and 9.
