has anybody read it? i have the e book and considering it was written over 60 years ago it is facinating it even talks about tv etc the whole concept of bb came from that book
I read it in year 12. It is fictional, but it gives you good insight into the potential for government surveilance, which as we have seen recently, is in fact becoming a reality.
In fact, the reality is more scary than the fiction. In 1984, the concept of mobile telephones didn't exist, and so surveillance was restricted to a large object in the wall of an apartment. As we have seen from the NSA scandal, surveillance actually occurs on every smart phone device. Thus, everywhere you carry it around with you you are being spied upon.

No it didn't. If it had then the house mates would live on starvation rations and Victory Gin. Also some would be tortured and others shot.
Yes, and if you've read it you too would have realised that the likes of left-ardian Emily lister fabian socialist greenazi totalitarian Julia Gillard and the sociopathic narcissist KRudd (along with the unions that they are the political arm of) plus the actual greenazi party are the pigs and the farmer and those out to take advantage of the fair-go hard-working types that are portrayed by the rest of the farm yard, yes ?

I think that you are confusing two books.

Big Brother (UK)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Big Brother is a BAFTA Award-winning British reality television game show in which a number of contestants live in an isolated house for several weeks, trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aim of winning a large cash prize at the end of the run. It is the British version of the Dutch Big Brother television format, which takes its name from the character in George Orwell's 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

That's coz you've prolly chosen to be part of the problem rather than the solution and are supping with the pigs at their table rather than being out in the farm yard doing the Real Work.
keke eh ?
Is that anything to do with this ?
