The Bachelorette star Michael Turnbull has been accused of stretching the truth about his professional soccer career.

During The Bachelorette's opening night on Wednesday, the 34-year-old retired Melbourne Victory A League goalkeeper, said in a clip as he stood in Suncorp Stadium: 'The highlight of my career was playing for Australia and the Socceroos and also the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.'

But one of his old teammates told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday: 'Michael didn't play for Socceroos or the Olympic team like he said. He was selected but actually never played.'

During the Network Ten show's opening night, he said: 'The highlight of my career was playing for Australia and the Socceroos and also the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000'

Podcast Four At The Back 's Dale Roots tweeted during the reality show: 'Michael Turnbull played: - zero minutes at the 2000 Olympics - zero Socceroos games - only 540 mins in the #ALeague… ever #bacheloretteau.'

While Justin Tickner ‏wrote: 'Michael Turnbull's been telling porky pies about his resume? I'm sooo shocked by that.'

However, a source close to Turnbull revealed that what he said was taken out of context and it is difficult to get a message across in 'a 10 second TV clip'.

'Michael has played with the Socceroos during trial games and training camps, but not on the official team. He also played for the Young Roos and at many other levels.

Awfully full of himself for a career back up.
That explains the pretend alpha aura.

Can someone tell me what Con said?

This:

I didn't say that, don't put words in my mouth please. :angelic:

I don't really care whether you or any other poster criticizes the bachie tbh. All I'm doing is pointing out the way 1 traffic in terms of 'critiquing' and that I find the double standard funny.

Everything the bachie does is dissected and he's instantly blasted for being this and that. Whereas the female themselves who are unashamedly throwing themselves at him can apparently do no wrong. :hilarious:

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The bachie isn't a 100% villainous insensitive douche and the girls aren't perfect wholesome little damsels either. :)

He has no shame! Former Bachelor love rat Blake Garvey accuses ex-fiancée Sam Frost of trying to 'profit' from him on The Bachelorette

It was Sam Frost's night to shine… but not if her ex-fiancé Blake Garvey had anything to do with it.

Possibly upset after getting the boot from Celebrity Apprentice, the 32-year-old former Bachelor and topless waiter took to his Instagram on Wednesday to accuse the 26-year-old of trying to 'profit' from him.

Blake has since deleted the lengthy post because of the instant backlash from Sam's fans that appeared alongside a picture of controversial US Bachelor star Jason Mesnick, his wife Molly and their daughter Riley Anne.

While Blake shocked Australia in 2014, when he dropped to one knee and asked Sam to marry him.

She gleefully accepted, but before the episode even had a chance to air, he had dumped her behind the scenes to run off with second runner-up Louise Pillidge.

'It took me a long time to be okay with what happened': Blake may have been referring to Sam's emotional state on the season premiere of The Bachelorette where she relived her emotional turmoil once again

Both Bachelors have been vilified in their respective countries for hurting and humiliating the women on national TV, with Blake was dubbed 'Australia's most hated man'.

Blake may have been referring to Sam's emotional state on the season premiere of The Bachelorette where she relived her emotional turmoil once again, saying: 'It took me a long time to be okay with what happened.

'When you're so honest to someone with who you are as a person and they just decide to break up with you, you question yourself and you don't feel good enough.'

Before Blake had a chance to delete his Instagram, commenters also reminded him of his recent car ads and how he had profited from Sam's heartbreak.

In July, Blake was uncovered as an unlikely star of Fairfax's new campaign for Drive.com.au, despite his own driving licence being revoked for six months in March 2014.

On the advert he plays on his infamous dumping of Sam and subsequent running off with her friend, Louise.

'Choosing the right one - it's not easy,' Garvey cheesily grins down the camera in the advert.

'Get it wrong and remorse will fill you,' he adds sarcastically, clearly unfazed by his own antics.

'I've got another choice to make and this time I know I'll make the right one,' the former topless waiter says, referring to a guide on the site that helps customers choose the perfect car.

The Bachelorette continues on Thursday in Network Ten at 7.30pm.

Reepbot is gaslighting lol.

No I'm not. True, I may have misread Conn's points. I say points because he does have so many of them and they are not always coherent. But one point I took out of it is that there are times on here where the sympathy seems to be heavily towards the women then the men (Jade/Ed, Heather/Sam) and it might not always be warranted. That's what I took to mean by 'double standards'
