Bachelor bombshell: Matt Agnew's REAL JOB is revealed as TV hunk no longer works as an astrophysicist
Matt reportedly works at the NAB's Melbourne head office.
An NAB spokesperson refused to confirm to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday if the reality star worked there due to privacy, but added: 'Quantium from time to time provide contractors to NAB.'
Matt does not have the NAB position listed on his personal LinkedIn.
Ten has highly publicised Matt's profession as an astrophysicist both on the show and in promotional videos for the hit program.
During the premiere episode of The Bachelor, Matt was forced to explain what an astrophysicist does after some of the contestants struggled to pronounce the title.
Ahead of the premiere of the show, Matt appeared on 10 Daily and said that his profession is key for the survival of the human race.
'My specific research is about planetary science, so the stuff I'm doing is trying to figure out where another planet like Earth could exist, so we could actually look and find it,' he explained.

Well he could be qualified as a space chimp...err... astrophysicist... but that doesn't mean he actually works in that capacity at the moment. There's not that many space chimp..err... astrophysicist jobs around.

Besides it'd be the channel 10 PR/Marketing weenies that have perpetuated the lie by promoting the heck out of his 'career', not him (though he's going to cop all the blame and flack for it...)

It was already out there he wasn’t a working astrophysicist. But in reality astrophysicist would probably be easier to grasp than what he actually does.

No big deal. He has the qualifications. Like a doctor who isn't currently practising is still a doctor, unless he's been struck off.

Really, how many people work as LEGIT astrophysicists? Even Dr. Brian May does astrophysics as a side gig, because it's UBER COOL. But for Channel 10 to continually perpetuate this lie while he's really working at NAB as a contracted data analyst is pretty fricking LAME. He's not some super catch. He's a moderately good looking math nerd who wanted to pash lots of chicks for street cred.

They should have had David the RIDICULOUSLY REALLY REALLY GOOD LOOKING VILLAIN MALE MODEL from Survivor as Bach. Even though he already has ten kids and a lady. No matter, he could have pulled it off, his acting is Oscar worthy. IDIOTS. Instead we stuck with this pretender dude. BOOO.

David from Survivor would have been hilarious, if only to see him explaining how fantastically good-looking he is and how he's too good for these basic biatches and how he KNOWS TULLY.

Next we'll find out that he doesn't even like stargazing!
His interests are really photocopying and fetching skinny lattes from the NAB staff canteen.

OMG, I'm being mean, but this really is too easy. Can we just fast forward to him picking Parkes Girl and simply ending this now? If not, Parkes Girl will be the new Nikki Gogan but just more bogan.

Matt was working as an astroman during filming

He is only on secondment .....that is a short term loan.....to do some analysis for NAB, big deal, and he may need the money

I imagine he is like my scientist friend.....

Friend happens to be a research cancer doctor, professor and head of his department
But his 2 brilliant daughters want nothing to do with following Dad......because he has to apply for a new grant every friggin year
A lot of science stuff in Aus is not funded well

We have serious brain drain going on, super clever kind get sick of our crap funding and off they go OS
My friend lived in Switzerland for years just to earn a real living

The Bachelor Matt Agnew has slammed reports that he’s been lying about his day job.

Fans of the reality show were shocked yesterday when Fairfax reported that Agnew had a “secret gig at NAB” where “he’s been working as an analyst on secondment”.

There’s been no mention of the hunk’s alleged bank job by Channel 10 in the past few months, with the network’s publicity machine heavily promoting the fact he’s an astrophysicist.

Agnew never mentioned the bank when he did a series of interviews last week to promote the reality show, talking only about his role as an astrophysicist.

“It’s about researching and understanding how space works and how we fit into the universe,” the 32-year-old told Kyle and Jackie O about his job.

“The research that I’m involved in is trying to figure out where we should look to find another planet like Earth. I think there’s a handful of places even within our own solar system where it looks like all the ingredients for life are there, so I think there’s a chance that in the next half century that we’ll find evidence of that.”

So you can understand why fans were confused when Fairfax claimed Agnew actually worked at NAB.

This morning Agnew spoke to Kyle and Jackie O and set the record straight about the “ludicrous” speculation.

“Before I went in filming (The Bachelor) I was working as an astrophysicist,” he said on KIIS FM. “I was still employed as an astrophysicist during filming.”

But the reality star said he started a slightly different job after filming on the dating show finished.

“I basically pivoted and moved into a position as a data scientist,” he said. “I started working with a data science consultancy called Quantium.

“In the two months that I’ve worked for them, I think I’ve had two, maybe three meetings at one of the NAB offices and that was sufficient to create the story that apparently I’m a banker.”

Agnew sarcastically called the job brouhaha a “pretty weak scandal” but admitted he did find it a little funny.

“There’s an element of humour to it … (but) I’m like, ‘Do I genuinely have to correct this?’ It just seems so ludicrous,” he said.
