What do you mean it was "confirmed" he was the original winner?i knew ben was the original intended winner (confirmed recently to me), what had gone wrong? had australia forgotten to vote because they thought he was safe? was there a cover up considering his fragility, i will never know. all i know is that night $250k went from bens hands into mine.
I mean, in the reality shows of today we all understand that there is always that one person the producers very clearly push towards the end from the start, via means of how they edit or the amount of air time they give somebody (i.e. Harrison Craig on The Voice was highly featured in all promos of his season right from the get-go), and Ben was definitely very obviously shown very prominently last year on BB too (much like Bradley was in BB09). Obviously this is extremely unfair to other contestants and (in my opinion) something that should be highly highly avoided at all costs - especially when it comes to a show like Big Brother - but clearly it still happens.
Naturally, I feel that with a series like BB, the producers' favourite rarely sees the Finale (with Ben being an example of this) as it actually causes a backlash of sorts. What I believe goes (and went) wrong for Ben is that it becomes overkill. The public seem to start going against a certain character if they get too much air-time, simply because it gets annoying - and painfully obvious. That's the problem with the producers picking faves on a show like Big Brother. Given that we see you guys constantly and judge whether you stay or go based on how you act and what we are seeing of you, as soon as a HM does or says something wrong (even if it's the smallest thing) you may pay the price by being evicted solely due to one little mishap. The same goes for the way the crew edit you. Evidently, Ben and Bradley are both recent examples of this happening and working against the producers' favour.
So again, can I ask what you are referring to when you say that Ben indeed was the intended winner, by fact? The producers were willing to continue editing him in a positive light to get him to the end??
