Another crummy episode imo. The whole thing has just been really tedious, like we're somehow supposed to be worried for Jeremy and Spencer's safety and fear the girls alliance when the two of them are literally the only people who have a long-term edit. Add 80,000 Spencer confessionals all saying the same thing, some smug self-righteousness from Tasha, Kimmi being invisible, etc. and it's just another lackluster Cambodia episode.
Would anybody actually care about any of these people if they weren't returning players? The editing team hasn't put forth any effort into building their characters further. Spencer's only characterization is tedious confessionals about ~feelings~, Jeremy's only characterization is that Val is pregnant, Tasha has nothing, Kelley has nothing, Kimmi has nothing, Abi's disappeared when the tribes merged, and Joe had nothing himself, just a bunch of people talking about how perfect he is for inventing the hammock or some shit. Keith's the only person with some discernible character traits, but he's only shown in about one scene every other episode for comic relief. The whole season has just been passionless and uninspiring to me.

I don't understand why you're watching a show you don't like. I've watched seasons that I haven't liked, never bleated about it in forums though.Blah, blah, blah
Anyway, on to the show. Curious as to who put Keith onto Tasha with the previous voting. Brought out her inner Abi. Wentworth's pondering after the vote was interesting considering the "first time in 32 seasons" promo at the end. Two or three idols played? Negating entire votes? Can't wait for this finale, and it's the first time in a long while that I'll be counting down the days.

I wonder if your enjoyment of the show hinges on whether you like the strong players or not. For me the episode was fine, and I've enjoyed the whole season. Spencer for the win!
yep Spencer or Keith for the win for me

All very mysterious. So relieved Spencer got the necklace and Keith stayed; and that Spence's face wasn't caved in by that fall on the challenge, the way it looked in the promos, ye gods.
What was that with Abi voting for Keith at a time like that?! Express yourself, but not when you're one of the options to go home that night!

I see brinkpeople.
I am thinking that the first time in X many seasons clue might possibly be a three way tie at the six person stage.

Jiffy, on EW:
"The finale is … phenomenal. Historic. Unpredictable. And ultimately satisfying. I think it will cap off, in grand fashion, what most fans will regard as one of — if not THE greatest season of Survivor. I have absolutely loved the way this group played. I am proud and impressed by the level of fierce dedication to playing to win. Everybody went big. I hope future players take a note from this season. You want to be a part of something amazing? You want a shot at being asked back? You want to be remembered? You have to play big. You have to remember that if there are 20 people playing, 95 percent of you will lose. So you truly have very little to lose. GO BIG or do yourself and your family a favor and STAY HOME.
"
I really have enjoyed this season so much. Hope they sneak in one more shot of my favourite monkey, and that Spencer survives to final tribal - and, if not, that Keithy wins.

My personal preference is obviously Spencer, then Keith, but they've all played hard apart from Kimmy. I don't know if it's just an invisible edit, but we have no idea what she thinks about anything, what anyone else thinks of her or why she's still there. Has she even had one vote? I don't dislike her in any way, but she would need to pull out something huge at the finale to become a memorable player. Kimmy for the win?

It's not about liking or disliking strong players, but I'm not going to like someone just because they're playing well, ya know? I care much more about character development, because regardless of how good or how bad the gameplay is, why should I care if I don't give a shit about anyone involved? I don't know if it's because everyone has already played once before, but they really haven't tried to develop anyone at all this time around and it's depressing. I don't feel like I know much about, well, really anyone left in the game except maybe Keith, and that's really troubling. The only character development they've bothered to shown is repetitive shit about Jeremy's wife being pregnant or Spencer trying to prove that he's capable of basing human emotions (fuck him), and that's just resulted in the season being really dry for me. It's like watching a really boring chess match.

lmfao this actually sums up a lot about what I find wrong with this season and Probst and the current state of this show. Like... the message is "you probably won't win, so just try to make your mark and get remembered" and, like, how about you just try to win??? I think people transparently playing to return for another season is forced and pathetic and lame, and I fucking hate the MAKE BIG MOVES propaganda. It's becoming more clear that what I want to get out of this show is far, far different from what the producers want to get out of this show, and that's really sad.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. It does seem like because they are all returning players, they haven't bothered to let us know who they are, assuming we already know. There isn't much character development. Who is Kimmy besides a girl who was once on the side of the chickens... This isn't really a problem for me as the first half of the season was the Joe show and the second half the Spencer show. As I (and it seems most in this thread) already like those two, we are finding it enjoyable while you are not.

Well, it's not a soap opera - why should there be character development? I think, the opposite, anyway - they've rammed it down our throats with endless references to how this one or that one has changed, grown, or developed since returning to the game. Shut up, show!
I am loving this season for so many reasons. Can't wait till next Thursday.

I think they are all a likable bunch. But the one I find most endearing is Keith.yep Spencer or Keith for the win for me![]()
I really would like to see him win.

I think there's a huge difference between a natural narrative and a prepackaged storyline that fits nicely with the season's theme of Second Chances, What Collar Are You, Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty, etc. But even then, we're only really hearing that sort of stuff from Jeremy doing it for his pregnant wife and Spencer having emotions. I don't know, this show definitely wraps around to self-parody a lot of the time, like when we were actually supposed to believe in Worlds Apart that Nina wasn't voted out because she's a middle-aged deaf woman but actually because she's REALLY a white collar and she had no business being on the no collar tribe. It's a story for sure, but a largely transparent one.
As for why there should be character development... like, if I actually need to explain this then we clearly approach the show with entirely different mindsets, but the characters are why you get invested in the first place. It's a show about human interactions at its core, and through the characters we get our good guys, our villains, our cocky overdogs, our scrappy underdogs, our alphas, our betas, etc. Without any character development it would just be a personified Wikapedia article heavily focused on strategy with little substance (which is exactly how Cambodia has been imo.)
A Keith win would be kind of hilarious. It's been clear he is not "in" with anyone and basically has had no idea what is really going on the entire time. He's just there. Make big moves you say? Haha, this would be the exact opposite.
That's why I like him!
