So...Back In 2015?

Dear @mistercat122 you want a smackdown here's a smackdown for you...

For one I'm not trying to argue with you... I actually only understood about 30% of your original post... And I was actually thought I was being "nice" in trying to engage you in conversation...

The "twists" however poorly executed they may have been during the Nine era have never really been its downfall... The fact that the 1st memory of BB prior to the Nine's revival was that the show lacked depth had a lot to do with it... Coupled with the fact that Nine's storytelling lacked the same thing... It was trash TV when Channel 10 dumped it and it became even worse when Nine revived it...

As I've said many times on these forums the excuse Alex and Nine gave regarding the live feed was nothing but a crock of shit... Hiring a content filter and putting the "live" feed on a slight delay would not have pushed the show's budget to extremes... Fans wouldn't have cared whether or not it was actually "live" or not... That is if content that was censored was actually "worth" censoring and not just holding content back for the sake of ratings... Any money that was actually saved was put towards things that really didn't matter such as remodeling the house year on year... Or other worthless stunts...

Also have you ever come to think that the reason BBUK was "copied" it might be because the ideas that come out of BBUK are actually worth repeating??? And your average Bogan (which makes up a HUGE portion of BB's average fan base) probably isn't exactly "up to date" with the goings on of BBUK either... That said BBUK's downfall in the past few years hasn't been for a lack of creative ideas either... I've never been one to give Alex praise but whenever he "copied" BBUK his take always put a unique favor on things... Jacob when have you EVER come up with an idea that has been at a level the show could actually use?

As someone who has posted here for over a decade and spent hours upon hours being discussing BB when I say that the show has reached its creative peak you better come back with something more than "they can always do something new"... If so... What??? If the general public aren't over BB then why have ratings declined so much? What reason do they have to tune in to a show to yet another revival?
TLDR

The X Factor is essentially just a rebranding of Idol... And when it was relaunched on Seven the show didn't actually rate that well... However Seven gave it a chance and the show's audience has grown substantially... Let's be honest the way things are going at Channel 10 at the moment ratings are ratings...

Hmm, but the X-Factor has a "name" for itself internationally. As did Aus Idol, The Amazing Race, The Mole, The Voice. All of these carried some sort of appeal of a home-grown version of an international sensation.

Rebranding Big Brother with a new name and new premise only serves to put it on the same level as rating-flops like "The Big Adventure" and "Everybody Dance Now". There's not really a market for new reality shows because of the inundation of reality television on Australian TV that is already sucking dry whatever market existed.

I think a strong format is key, something which was lacking on Nine especially in the last couple of years when you didn't even know what night the evictions were most week as they kept moving all the time.

The US format could work but it would have to be under the Big Brother name - just perhaps needs an appropriate subtitle to make it clear it's new - e.g. Big Brother: Power House. I also think the Big Brother: The Battle format could work too where HMs compete for rich/poor - obviously you've dabbled in that before but this format is with much bigger challenges in an arena (on a bigger scale to FNL), which considering FNL seems to be something much missed should attract a fanbase.

omg why can't big brother just be a social experiment. D: please.

Both the US format and the Battle format are more of a social experiment than the almost scripted show Nine has delivered over the last few years.

As much as I'd love the show to strip it all back and start again I just think Nine have left it in such a mess it would be very difficult for anyone to do that now - and even if they set out like that the network would panic a couple of weeks in and start throwing in twists left right and centre anyway.

He already said in some post it won't be back unless if 10 or Foxtel picks it up
And that's what I meant - he'll be able to tell us if either of those discussions collapse, as well as any news on the potential move to online.

Would be good if 10 picked it up, who knows

but what if they pick it up but we don't get it till like 2016? Would anyone still be interested after a year? (rhetorical question)

I would be, especially if 10 picked it up. Until then as @Rison said, I'm twiddling my thumbs.

I actually think MORE people will/would be interested after a break than if BB came back this year. All three ch9 seasons were subpar at best, at worst unwatchable (season 11). You gotta give people a chance to literally forget about the show, otherwise audience fatigue will prevent anyone from tuning in. I'd say at least a two year break is needed.

Is this idea of a break common in Australia? That has never happened in the U.S. that I can recall. I know they re imagined battleship galactica but that was decades later. I think in the U.S. once a show is off the air, it's just gone.

The U.S. gave up very quickly on having a public vote. But maybe that's a big part of the financing in Australia?

On another note I was on YouTube and saw this Ambi pur advertisement Capture.PNG

Though I doubt it will be back

Also the eye is upside down

and the outside broadcast van text is poorly edited on or at least it wasn't put on the van properly
