Ratings Thread 2013

Horrendous ratings last night, but well deserved too.

These two weeks of Big Brother have been the worst in recent memory and it has nothing to do with the housemates. If channel 9 want this to be successful, and if the producers want to keep their jobs, then maybe they should start listening to us for once. The drop in ratings is no coincidence, it is a symptom of everything wrong with the show that has been pointed out on this forum. Even the most loyal of fans are getting close to giving up on the show now.

All true. I still have some hope that they will listen to us.

I want BB back so much. For me it was the best show on TV. I have never liked a show as much as I loved BB.

Hmmmmm,

Not the best in ratings.

Look, all those having a go at Alex, let me say this. Alex does the production of the show, but what they show on TV has nothing to do with Alex. This is Ch 9 decision what they show and how long they show it on TV.

Alex can only do so much, even his strings are pulled by ch 9.

These 1 and a half hours most nights are killing the show.................1 and a half hours of next to nothing - I'd prefer 1/2 hour of something decent instead!

I'm calling it... This will be the last season again.
Either it will not return, or it will be on an even cheaper budget next year :(
People are still very angry about the winner last year, I know so many people that swore off it.
So it was expected the ratings would be down.

Never thought of it that way - interesting view point, interesting indeed. If people were so "angry" about Ben being in the final 3 maybe they should have picked up their phones and voted for Stella or Layla!

I would think that Channel NINE are the ones we need to blame.

I sat through Ten's last series with Travis, so I can get through this.

But it's still got so much potential, casting-wise, if they'd only show them talking for more than two consecutive sentences and stop getting them to act out corny little scenes.

Nah these were casual fans, older and families etc, the younger bunch are the ones that put up the votes.

Ch 9 but BB on Monday night at 8.10pm, if it was in the 7pm slot ratings for this whole week would be better.

Don't know how you figure that out. All the other nights have started at 7pm and they have rated even worse! Again, looking through rose coloured glasses - everything is positive - nothing is negative. "Snap Back to Reality, Oop There Goes Gravity"

If the ratings continue to be as poor as this week and it looks unlikely to be able to return next year...do you think the producers will just try the adult themed side of Big Brother and put it in a late timeslot, 9.30pm main show similar to BBUK?

OMG THIS LINE. Funniest thing you've ever said Miki! haha

Thanks :-) Made me laugh when I wrote it - now I've got the song stuck in my head - might have to youtube it now

If that's only reason they move the show to an adult time zone and make it more adult themed then fingers crossed it gets even worse ratings this week! ;)

What a stupid comment. You're saying that Alex has handed Nine perfectly edited daily shows and has been told specifically each time to go back and mix the footage up out-of-order, re-structure entire conversations, show bias towards certain people and banish a select group of housemates to the background?

Nah, not buying that.

Especially since you're making it sound like Nine edit the show together from the raw footage, Alex's editors do that. Then they hand the show to Nine and are either given the green-light or given notes on content they want removed/changed before the episode is broadcast. All Nine can do is rip scenes out and shorten the episode length or just not air an episode at all if Alex's editors refuse to change anything. Before anything is sent to Nine, Alex himself signs off on it - therefore he's responsible for how it's laid out and presented to us.

I am really concerned about the ratings because as opposed to some here I would rather see SOMETHING than nothing. I am sure there are some 'crisis' meetings happening between nine and Alex's team over last night's ratings. They need to fix it up ASAP. If the numbers continue to slide downwards I think there is a real risk of not only the show not coming back next year but also that this season will be axed before completion.

^ I think Big Brother is one of those shows that if it gets the axe there's some rule that stops it from being taken off the air until the show completes its course.
