Ratings Thread 2013

Last week no show on Saturday even cracked a million (even the news!) so i don't think it will get that high. Has anyone even seen any ads for Showdown??
This is the best we've got

Also, I think it will be Showdown Shocking ratings. Saturday is just not a good choice. Friday really is the best time to do it, but they're blinded by their need to distance themselves from the original days on Ten. If they actually wanted to be successful that'd make it much like it was while on Ten. But that will never happen. Because Nine.

I would have thought it would have had almost nothing to do with distancing itself from the TEN version and everything to do with NINE's Friday night football
Bleachey is spot on, the reason Nine do not have Friday nights available is due to Friday night Football in Sydney and Brisbane. The previous poster is from Melbourne, so may not have thought of that, as Melbourne Adelaide and Perth do not get live Friday night Football on Nine due to being AFL states. So Friday nights simply is not an available option.
984k is solid for 90 minutes on a Thursday night. I cannot remember the last time a show got 1.4 million on a Thursday night!

728k for last night.
Which placed it as #8 for the evening overall.
However, more importantly in the key demos
#2 in 25-54 (behind NINE news)
And #1 in 16-39 and 18-49 demographics.
Another good result.
We need to remember that the multi channels are constantly gaining more and more views which is changing the Australian TV landscape. So more and more the networks will be relying on the key demos as opposed to national figures.

This was affected by the cricket. However, that was always expected to be Fridays result. I was shocked when I saw how high the news was. Abnormal for a Friday.

How do you know for sure?

The Key demos are for the advertisers who want to target their ads to the viewing public. As long as BB performs well in the key demos, advertisers will pay!! The more advertisers pay, the more the network will want to bring the show back
I think my previous post was poorly worded. In actual fact advertisers have only EVER cared about the key demos. National figures are for headlines and media spin. It's just that with the rising popularity of the digital multi-channels I think this has become more evident to ratings-watchers.
Thanks for the info![]()
I'm not saying that another season is assured quite yet though. If it slips in the key demos over the series it would be in jeopardy. I'm just hoping that this show will grow as people talk about the diversity and interesting cast.

I don't keep up with the ratings but this season's definitely the most interesting, and the best twist imo.
I remember the mother-daughter one with Karen & Krystal, that was just lame.
You just didnt seriously say this is the most interesting season did you??? Did you keep a straight face as you wrote it?
683k for the first Showdown.
Thats terrible

For a Saturday, 683,000 isn't that bad. Much better performance than the stuff Nine has been playing at 6.30 Saturday in recent weeks.

That's what I thought. I also thought when they announced they were doing the games for four weeks, that they would wait and see how it rated and possibly continue on throughout the show with them, all going well.

I think it was a pretty poor result - ratings wise and the actual show. Last week the movie The Blind Side had only 23k less viewers, but it was a full length movie plus all the ads.

Yeah and I guess Nine's share was down to just 14% (though that was probably due in part by the movie Arthur which didn't perform well). But again, BB Showdown won the younger demographics and came third in 25-54.
