Ratings Thread 2013

The worst thing for BB's ratings is Adelaide and Perth. If you compare the individual ratings to X Factor, you will notice how much it is hurting the ratings. X Factor kicks BBs ass in them cities.

The demos *are* more important, so it's good that Nine focus more on them.
I don't understand the Australian media's strong emphasis on total viewers, especially in today's viewing climate.

In America, for example, the only numbers really discussed are what it gets in the 18-49 demographic.
Using this logic, let's look at how each episode has gone.

Monday's Show: 759k in 18-49, #1 for the night (compared to 1.309m total, #4 for the night)
Tuesday's Show: 590k in 18-49, #2 for the night (compared to 1.042m total, #7 for the night)
Wednesday's Show: 572k in 18-49, #2 for the night (compared to 1.030 total, #6 for the night)

The show's a success so far. Too early to tell how the rest of the season will play out obviously, but no doubt Nine are happy with these numbers.

Exactly. Nine always do terribly in these areas. Last night MasterChef had double the viewers in Perth. MASTERCHEF. And who watches that anymore?

Yes, Nine's problems here in Adelaide and in Perth go far beyond Big Brother. Particularly in Perth, I think Seven could show a 24 hour test pattern and people would watch. It's a shame though, half decent ratings in Adelaide and Perth would mean BB getting between 1.1 and 1.15 million. Fortunately, in the end, it's the east coast that matters to the networks and Big Brother is doing solid numbers there.

Hello sexypants!

Good to see you back.

Thursday 1st August
984,000 which placed it as #4 for the night.

In the all important demos
#1 in 16-39
#1 in 18-49
#1 in 25-54

Very good results for a 90min Thurs night show n

That's better than I expected for a Thursday night. What are your predictions for tonight and showdown tomorrow? 800k & 700k?

Probably 800 tonight and 800 tomorrow. There has been a lot of anticipation for this Showdown.

Last week no show on Saturday even cracked a million (even the news!) so i don't think it will get that high. Has anyone even seen any ads for Showdown??

No but when people see it, they will watch. It will have a lead in from the news so it should rate fine.

Excellent result for BB again last night - 40k higher than I predicted.
Friday and Saturday are the lowest 2 viewing nights of the week:
I'll go BB Fri - 720k and Showdown 690k but do not be surprised to see lower.

Heyyyy tra la! Great to see you back for another season too! :)

Very solid ratings for last night, very comfortable time slot wins as well as solid wins in all key demos. Nine were number one in total people as well as demos so they would be happy with that performance.

I am really curious to see what showdown gets. Friday night live was always a solid performer, even in the dying days of Big Brother on ten. There's certainly been plenty of demand for it among younger fans in particular. Lack of promotion has surprised me a little though. I will go 720k for Showdown. I will go 780k tonight.

Good result for Big Brother, topping all three major demos, #4 for the night in total viewers AND the most watched non-news show.

984,000 is awesome for a 90 minute show, but it'd be interesting to see minute by minute figures to see how many began watching but tuned out after half an hour and then if it decreased more after an hour. Like someone else here posted, if these shows were only 30-60 minutes the figures would be much higher (I'm personally happy that they're at least an hour though, particularly since there's no live feed).

I'm curious to see what Showdown gets. I've seen hardly any promotion at all for it and the only in-show mention they've made is when Sonia made the live announcement to the house, as far as I can recall.

I would have thought that anything below 1 million is considered ordinary, especially in its opening week.

Not when you consider the top rating show was only 1.2m. Big Brother was the top rating non-news program. Says a lot.
