I think it may well be an alright read, but probably not particularly insightful or thought-provoking

The thing I found a little sad in Ed's blog, and I would feel the same if any HM had said it, is that he feels he has come out exactly the same person as he went in. I think most HM (with perhaps the exception of Tim) would feel they have changed or evolved in some way - learned things about themselves, their tolerances or intolerances, gained insights about themselves, new ways of thinking etc. To spend 3 months immersed in a life experience like no other, but to view yourself as unchanged by it seems sad.

I do think that for someone as guarded as him a blog is a good start. I still don't think he'll post anything too interesting though even if we asked. He actually says that he knows everyone wants to know about him and Jade and that it's understandable but he still didn't say anything. Not that he had any responsibility to but I think that was a pretty loud indication that he's not going to disclose anything too juicy or personal about anything really. It's good for his fans though that he's writing a blog. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Funny thing is the main reason people will be having a go at him isn't because he's blogging, it's because he's choosing to support and add to a blog by his family that called Jade every horrible thing under the sun to the point where Nick and co thought they needed to delete them all before Jade got out and could read them.

Ignoring the Ed hate from the usual suspects on here I think it's a great start from someone from BB, particularly someone who probably wouldn't have thought of blogging in a million years before BB.
I think it will be full of insights from his journey from here, I don't think he will spill any beans, he's far too gentlemanly to kiss and tell. He has a good self deprecating sense of humour.
Of course they are going nuts about it on the JA thread, oh dear...

I actually agree camerashy, and trust me, I laughed when I saw the post that he is blogging. But the positive spin you've put on it, does make me see that side to it. I still laughed at tullylovesdrew post though. Can I sit on the fence with this one for now? I think it's best, let's see what other material he will give.

Edit: okay, I've read his first blog entry. It was surprisingly well written. He seems to express in writing better than he does verbally. I found the entry enjoyable and honest and I can see the loyalty he has towards family and friends. So far, I liked it.

Me too. I thought the blog sounded fairly honest and straight up...no bells and whistles... Ed doesn't claim to be a 'writer' so I wouldn't have expected anything more than what he's put forward on that blog. I actually thought he handled the relationship with Jade speculation quite well. He acknowledged it without being disrespectful.

I will state that I am biased in that I feel that some of the things written on that blog (pre-deletions) previously were unnecessary and just plain mean spirited. And I just think he should've started a new blog elsewhere.

But as [MENTION=35686]camerashy1[/MENTION] said - at least he doing something and giving it go. I admire the housemates who are trying to make the best of BB experience (eg. doing blogs, doing acting/presenting courses, actively seeking opportunities, going back to their jobs) and not just expecting something to come their way, or just want the fame and will turn up at any envelope opening

now if Ed said he was taking acting classes i might of said a few different things :)

I'd agree with the bolded sentence if he had started an independent blog - but by posting it as an another entry on a blog that he knows was derogatory and does still have demeaning comments on it - i'm not sure that I can agree.

I do agree with the rest.
 
out of curiosity. i am watching the Block, and i wonder if people do shop at Mitre 10 after watching the show or if they go to Bunnings? i go to Bunnings
