heres a thought...next time you give away $10k to charity, do it your way. I'm sure there will be some know it alls creeping out of the woodwork to tell just how you should have done it. I'm sure you wont mind though.

My philosophy on giving gifts of any kind...

A true gift is the one given without the giver attached to it. If I give someone a vase and do so expecting they will display it, I am attaching myself and my expectations to the gift. I am therefore not truly giving. A true gift has no such strings. It is not given with any expectation of being used, worn, displayed, eaten or spent in a particular way. There may be hope, but no expectation, and certainly no disappointment or judgement if it is not. A true gift originates in the desire to give, not in the desire to see one’s self or worth reflected in that gift’s use. Give freely and in abundance with grace and humility.

Have a wonderful Christmas all... Cheers from stinking hot Nth Qld!

Well said LoveBB.

If Tim really had any genuine intention of being TRULY generous to his fellow housemates he would have gifted them $500 to them personally with no strings attached and another $500 for them to allocate to a charity of their choice (or a 250/250 split whatever).

The point is, this shifty move does not strike as mostly stemming from Tim trying to be generous rather he's using 5% of his winnings as a excuse to mindfuck this year's housemates who have not been fortunate to receive the kind of remuneration he got out of the game and rub it in their faces to boot.

The fact that some charities may benefit from his supposed generosity is of secondary importance to the douche bag extraordinaire that is Tim; there's no doubt about that in my mind.

so i guess you leave birthday and christmas presents anonymously then huh. Or don't accept receipts to claim at tax time for charities?

good for you, but then again no one knows or cares who you are....tim and the other housemates on the other hand can bring a lot of advertising and awareness to organistations that need all the help they can get. But hey, best to keep it quiet or it's not really a gift.

if I give someone something they don't like, I am pleased if they return it to get something that they would like more, I don't give a gift so that the recipient can tell everyone it was me that gave it to them.

gee really....how can you despise someone so much for giving money away to help people. What is tim going to get out of it? He is not going to be reimbursed, he is giving it away. He only got $250k, a lot of money, but hardly enough to but an average house, go on holiday, give to family and also help those in need. If he feels a little proud of himself then who cares, good for him, he should feel proud. What did all the other winners spend their dosh on? Who cares, it's theirs to spend however they want to.

Let the man make a difference in what ever way he wants. He could have always bought that sloth.

Well yes of course he's entitled to spend/waste his money however he deems fit.

And if that comes at the expense of humiliating his former BB housemates for his own sick and twisted amusement, I'm well within my rights to call him out on his douche baggery as well.

He's trying to hide his sinister intentions via 'charity' but non-Tim fans can see right through him, he ain't fooling us.

and if they told you they didn't like the way you gave it, how you wrapped it, what your intentions were, but took it anyway....would you tell them to go fuck themselves or be forever apologetic.

I'm not saying that is what the housemates are doing, from what i have seen they have made their own choice on what to do and have been very graceful and grateful for tims generosity. I have issue with people bitching about a very generous gift from a generous person and think you should pull your friggen heads in and give the guy a break. He did good. Let him be.

yep well within your rights...to call someone a douche bag for giving away to charity. says more about you.

even non-fans (hello ed) appreciate it for what it was. Let us disect what you have given, how much, to whom. I wont complain because anything you do to help others is admirable, whether i agree with your choices or not.

Say your boss comes to all the employees and says, "Business has been great everyone is getting a $500 gift. We're giving you the choice of keeping this money or donating it to charity. The naughty people can just fill out the paperwork, the nice people can tell us who they would like us to donate the money to in your name. Oh, and, by the way, we'll be making public the results of the nice list, posting it for everyone to see who chooses to be selfish and who uses this money in the way it was always intended." I seriously doubt that most people would be running around talking about the "generosity" of their boss.

People have also made reference to the tax write off the HMs can take from this, but unless things work dramatically different in Australia than in the US, Tim, by virtue of the fact that he is keeping the money and donating it in the name of the HM, is the only one to get the tax credit. If Tahan does indeed donate the other $400 to a registered charity, will get the tax credit.

Ultimately, the HMs themselves got nothing out of this except they were forced to dance to Tim's tune in order to keep from looking like an ass. Tim could have asked each HM to name a charity to donate to, and then done so, but he didn't. Instead, he needed to turn his generosity into a game for his own entertainment. He certainly can do whatever the fuck he wants to do with his money. He's obviously decided that it is worth 10k to keep playing the BB game out of the house. More power to him.

I don't tell people I give gifts to how they should use them

now you are just yanking my chain. Don't bother. Giving someone a $50 gift card or a set of steak knives is not the same as giving away $10k to charity and you know it. He wanted to help people and gave the other housemates the chance to be active as well.

simple.

if you have nothing better to do than criticise someone for giving away to those in need then wallow in your own hatred...

poor housemates, tims a prick.

and everything you wrote was incorrect.

lets put it this way....in lieu of flowers please donate to childhood cancer, does not mean "don't buy flowers, buy that new pair of shoes you had your eye on". It is not evil to ask people to spend a gift in a manner you want, or give a donation in a manner that you see wise. If the giver/receiver doesn't wish to do that, it's on them, not the person that made the request to give to others.

Jo-bot. I think you are I are more bothered by these negative posts than Tim is. He doesn't really care, just goes on with his day. He's off to church now and excited about his day with the Salvos tomorrow. I would say lets just take it to the Tim appreciation thread. But then again, why should we? All these fans of other housemates are certainly plastering the walls with constant pictures and updates of their favorites. No reason we should hide in some corner about who we like. Who are your other favorites besides Tim?

For myself I love Tim, Drew, Tahan, Jade, Sugar Sisters, Jazz and Matt. And maybe Justynn, but he never gets any updates. at all. which is weird.

your failure to grasp simple logic amazes me .... for the umpteenth time I think him giving money to charity is wonderful..... using the fact that he was going to give money to charity anyway as a tool to play a game with the HM's without them asking to be included in such a game and knowing that some will have to endure criticism from the public as a result is the part I object to
