If he had a reason for lying about it, why mention it now? That's my point: It has nothing to do with Grindr or what it's used for. He could've said Pinterest instead of Grindr for all I care. I'm always open to seeing different angles to things so if you can provide me with a decent explanation as to why someone would lie about something as basic as having a Twitter account then I'm all for it because to me all it looks like is that he's pretending he's a naive, innocent manchild living in the 50s when that wasn't the case.

ETA - It matters for the same reason people in this thread care if Drew and Tully are fighting or if Jade and Ed are together. I'm here to discuss housemates and my thoughts on them.

Happy to have the discussion. Much better than looking at pics of the Sugar Sisters that's for sure. I think the reason for lying is fairly obvious, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions. As for the acting, which I think is the most serious claim you make I went back and read the 'Is Ben an actor?' thread. As far as I could tell, the answer was unequivocally 'no'. I liked [MENTION=4923]up_all_night[/MENTION]'s final comment:

Also can we put to rest this notion that Ben is doing his act 24/7. He isn't. That is why so many of us began to question him in the first place. There's so many extremes in his persona.

Times when he seems really witty, talented, switched on and clever. Times when he seems like a completely emotionally fragile idiot man baby. Unable to do the most basic things. Handle the most basic social interactions or life in the house. There's times when he's off in fantasy land with the fairies, or talking to pictures. There's times when he seems completely normal. There's times the merest notion someone in the house may be annoyed by him, or dislike him, or be happy about something inconsequential. That it has him balling his eyes out crying he thinks people will hate him. Then there's times people are just talking shit, ripping on him, or even having a laugh at his expense and he completely goes with the flow of it and doesn't care.

He is wildly inconsistent. Hence why we think the emotional man baby side is a put on or a massive exaggeration.

personally if you have stuff you want to hide you don't go on a national tv show where you are locked down for weeks/months ... with no control over what people will dig up about you ...
so if there is stuff out there and it does get dug up - own it. Don't lie about it. Don't try to cover it up.

it just means I now thoroughly distrust the guy - I don't believe in the naivety at his age, the uselessness at his age ... if he can't reheat a vege pattie how the heck did he manage to feed himself whilst living alone? Would I bother to watch a show he was cast in? probably for about 5 mins max until he grated on me because of the distrust ...

none of the stuff he has lied about would have bothered me too much if he'd just been truthful.

I think Ben's potential audience (which as far as I can see) is the same type as Bert and Patty's would mind though. Not sure how they'd go with "screaming bottom, 8 inches uncut, up for anything" ;)

well I'm thinking Bert & Pattie's audience would probably not have been watching BB so maybe they'll take him however he presents himself SHOULD he be given the opportunity to do so

It will be interesting to see where he washes up. I'm still thinking he should be the next Bill Collins :)
 
Don't know why Drew deleted and reposted his picture. As for Tully's legs - I said it when Big Brother was on - HOT.

I first went off Ben when I saw that he had been mocking guys who had contacted him on Grindr and made the comment about having nothing on the outside when he had a slew of friends and family running fan pages for him and being hugely supportive. Before then I rather liked him. The talking to the pictures thing drove me nuts but I just put that down to him being odd and as I have odd friends, it was tolerable. But then with the first two things I mentioned, plus the way he acted when he was evicted and denying the comedy thing, how he cried on stage at the finale as though he were Aretha Franklin, the way he portrays himself on Instagram like he's as busy and popular as Obama, how he's distanced himself from the other HMs and finally that article from the Ambi-Pur night last week where he lied about Twitter and Grindr, it all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I can understand why some people like him because I was one of them. I just no longer do. :)

People have it in for Ben real bad, you weren't here as far as I know but you should have read some of the stuff people were saying about him during the season.

Hey Sorceress! It's nice to see you back here. I agree with you. Ben is who he is. I suspect he's been a victim most of his life. I can't find it in me to worry about him enjoying his time in the sun. And I hope in his new incarnation on Grindr he finds his gay Drew :)
