This Tully's review of the hotel from her tumblr (I know a few of you have banned yourself from there):

1888 Hotel, Sydney
Hailed as the ‘World’s First Instagram Hotel’, 1888 Hotel in Sydney’s Pyrmont is a little slice of boutique-New-York-heaven, hidden away from the overly touristy Darling Harbour bustle.
With their ‘10k for a free stay’, ‘Selfie Space’ and ‘Picture Perfect Package’ promotions- they’re definitely playing in an interesting and forward thinking space when it comes to marketing and promoting your hotel in 2014.
And it’s easy to see why.
As soon as I arrived in the lobby, my digits were itching to grab my phone- the high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and brick walls, art deco lighting, bespoke furniture and polished concrete floors were something straight off my Pinterest page.
Although I was booked into one of their ‘King Bedrooms’, the friendly front of house staff happily informed me I had in fact been upgraded to the ‘Williamson’- which is more of a suite than a room.
After the obligatory ‘running through each room oohing, ahhing and touching every surface’ I was gobsmacked at the stylish interiors and beautiful features of the hotel’s top offering.
My own private entrance, king size bed, cocktail bar complete with cellar fridge, over-sized bathtub perfect for a glass of white and an in-room iPad which meant I could control the temperature of my little Soho-inspired loft without leaving the sexy leather lounges in the living room fit for 8.
The Pino Gris chilling in the bar fridge was a perfect drop and whilst there is no in-house restaurant or room service per say, the breakfast menu did make me wish it was 8am the next day already.
That being said, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat nearby, Balla at The Star is a personal favourite and only a stones throw up the road. (Try the zucchini flower & ricotta gnocchi with burnt butter and sage- my mouth is watering at the memory.) There is also a bar in the hotel lobby so you can grab a cocktail before you head out, only $10 if you manage to make happy hour.
All up, the staff were helpful and friendly, the room was beautiful and perfect for the inner-city hipster (although perhaps not overly romantic) and as a bonus- if you happen to have over 10 thousand Instagram followers- it’s all yours for the night, for FREE!
Thanks for having me guys!
