This is Tully's review of the hotel from her tumblr (I know a few of you have banned yourself from there):

1888 Hotel, Sydney

Hailed as the ‘World’s First Instagram Hotel’, 1888 Hotel in Sydney’s Pyrmont is a little slice of boutique-New-York-heaven, hidden away from the overly touristy Darling Harbour bustle.

With their ‘10k for a free stay’, ‘Selfie Space’ and ‘Picture Perfect Package’ promotions- they’re definitely playing in an interesting and forward thinking space when it comes to marketing and promoting your hotel in 2014.

And it’s easy to see why.

As soon as I arrived in the lobby, my digits were itching to grab my phone- the high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and brick walls, art deco lighting, bespoke furniture and polished concrete floors were something straight off my Pinterest page.

Although I was booked into one of their ‘King Bedrooms’, the friendly front of house staff happily informed me I had in fact been upgraded to the ‘Williamson’- which is more of a suite than a room.

After the obligatory ‘running through each room oohing, ahhing and touching every surface’ I was gobsmacked at the stylish interiors and beautiful features of the hotel’s top offering.

My own private entrance, king size bed, cocktail bar complete with cellar fridge, over-sized bathtub perfect for a glass of white and an in-room iPad which meant I could control the temperature of my little Soho-inspired loft without leaving the sexy leather lounges in the living room fit for 8.

The Pino Gris chilling in the bar fridge was a perfect drop and whilst there is no in-house restaurant or room service per say, the breakfast menu did make me wish it was 8am the next day already.

That being said, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat nearby, Balla at The Star is a personal favourite and only a stones throw up the road. (Try the zucchini flower & ricotta gnocchi with burnt butter and sage- my mouth is watering at the memory.) There is also a bar in the hotel lobby so you can grab a cocktail before you head out, only $10 if you manage to make happy hour.

All up, the staff were helpful and friendly, the room was beautiful and perfect for the inner-city hipster (although perhaps not overly romantic) and as a bonus- if you happen to have over 10 thousand Instagram followers- it’s all yours for the night, for FREE!

Thanks for having me guys!

I don't know - it doesn't really add anything to what was on the hotel's website for me. Then again, I am not a hipster or SM savvy.

I feel like I'm back to being negative Nelly tonight too! I think of it this way... She's going to start losing her following if she keeps up this silly game. She got the 200k followers because of her gig on BB...

I agree with that 100%. I noticed that after the recent news articles came out, coupled with her lack of Drew photo posts that she lost followers- prior to that her following was always climbing. Maybe if she notices it she will rethink her strategy. I think that if she didn't try to hide their relationship and rode it out that the haters would give up with time anyway. I don't think it would hurt to have the odd Drew post - nothing obsessive, just appear normal like other people . Just my opinion BTW.

Thanks Declan for sparing me from going into her blog site ;)

Tully needs to get her spelling and grammar sorted out if she's going to claim to be a trained journo. She even used "per say" which is one of my worst spelling pet peeves. May as well say diamond dozen.

Exactly what I think, and I swear I'm not just being nosy and selfish in feeling this way. Act like it's just a normal relationship--not something that's everybody's damn business, but not the nuclear codes, either--and eventually most (or at least more) people will treat it that way and just get over it. I think there's a happy medium between what she was doing and what she's doing now. It's overdramatic, and has to be a lot more work than it's worth.

My mum and dad are now officially old (80+). Every second week my father had to go away from home to work, sometimes in Oz and sometimes overseas. I think it made their relationship stronger. they still hold hands walking down the street etc.

That's beautiful.

1. looks to me like drew made the trip just in time for the freebie insta hotel stay.

2. Since luna has saturated instagram with selfies at the park, beach and even sleeping, i hope she doesn't start complaining about all the attention and gossip now that she is finally famous.

That one had me grinding my teeth too. And even for journos, there needs to be a ceiling on the number of one sentence paragraphs.

She might start deleting images she is tagged in with Tully. There is no #Tuna happening.

I finished reading that article and I feel like there was way too many words in one sentence. It's a mouthful to get through (I sometimes read it out where just my mouth is moving but no sound comes out).

I admit I actually looked up per say and did doubt myself. I also admit that I felt a little bit better about myself knowing I was right lol

She'll be cross with herself when one of her 'fans' decides to point it out. I actually think she made mistake not saying 'we'. As a reader of travel/hotel reviews, the use of the singular in a hotel like that just felt odd.
