My issue with Ed was that everything was so calculated. He came very close to being evicted early. I wish for Jade's sake he had been booted earlier.

This whole new girl seems scripted too. But she is definitely gorgeous and I don't mind seeing them together. Australia seems to be disproportionately filled with beautiful people.

And yeah, absolutely. My suspicion that there's something off about him and his new girl has certainly been strengthened by how much we've seen him calculate and script things in the past. Ed just seems to be all image to me and I think that's one of the reasons I've struggled to connect to him or what he's about.

I'm sure he's very polite (other HMs and people that have met him have commented on that), but he just seems to have very little depth or substance as a human being to me. I know that's a harsh thing to say but I've felt it from pretty much day dot. Everything he's interested in seems to revolve around the Melbourne social scene, drinking or very materialistic things like fashion...all things that paint a certain image but are void of actual substance. Now I'm not sure if this is intentional on his part to project a certain image, but either way it paints the picture of a very shallow human being to me.

I know a lot of the HMs are also quite image conscious and are interested in social scenes, fashion, etc. but we also know that there's other more important things at the core of who they are. I just don't get that with Ed. Everything that makes him tick seems to come back to image and as a result I've found it hard to get him and sudden staged looking photos out of nowhere (with a girl from his PR company none less) raise suspicions.

I might be sounding like an arsehole but nothing anyone says is gonna convince me that this isn't suspicious - just as others were convinced that Tim, Jade, Tahan, Tully and Caleb were paying the DM for articles. When your gut is telling you that something is off it's hard to ignore that.

And here's the thing we sometimes seem to forget about all of these HMs who aren't Tully or Tim: every last one of them--to perhaps varying degrees and with varying levels of conscious intent--is an attention seeker. They went on BIG BROTHER. They wanted to win a large amount of money by letting people all over Australia and the world simply watch them existing. Not everybody is public about their private lives, not even twentysomethings. Ed can date whoever he wants and take her to Coogee or Bondi or outer space but we don't need to know unless he puts it out there. Same with Drew and dating a girl who not only has similarities to Tully but mutual friends with her and for heaven's sake Tahlia. Do what you want, be proud of who you're with, but if you know you have a public profile, you know it's going to get attention and speculation that may not all be positive. And long rambling story short, if one doesn't want attention, even just as a little bonus, one doesn't need to get it. Ergo, they kinda sorta want it.

When DM ran the article about Jade and Dan Churchill, they showed them taking selfies. Fans asked them to post the selfies, and while both Jade and Dan both favourited the comments asking that, they didn't publish them. They kept them to themselves. Not all pics that HMs (or anyone) take end up on public display - some are just kept for private enjoyment.

Similarly, Ed (and Monika) will most likely have taken many photos of themselves and each other over the weekend that they chose to keep for themselves, however Ed made the decision to publicly post a pic taken in Jade's 'backyard'. As you say, the attention could be wanted - and that pic at that location could have been a deliberate choice to generate interest.

Im not a fan of ed, but I don't get why everyone is giving him shade for having a girlfriend and posting about it on social media because of Jade.... hasn't Jade been open about her "friendship" with that former Masterchef guy? so they both clearly moved on... I don't actually pay any attention of what they do post show, because I don't actually care, but skimming this thread now and then, I don't get why everyone is so down on him for that?

So last season, and not even a thing at the time, 50 shades of Grey was a more engaging love story, and that is the worst thing I have ever read

It isn't about Ed having a new girlfriend or about posting pics of her or them on SM at all - there is no problem with that. It's questioning his choosing to post a photo of his new girlfriend where his very-public-ex (who a ridiculous number of people on SM seem to still think he is with) lives and hangs out.

If Jade posted pics of herself and someone new taken at any of the Richmond coffee shops or restaurants that Ed regularly mentioned and posted pics of himself at, I would question her reasons also.

It was the fact that of all the beaches in Sydney, they posted from where Jade lives. Some people think it's tacky; some people don't see why. Some people who see it as tacky are bothered by it; others don't give a flying turd. The world turns.

I agree ed was never into jade and also he felt like he had to give it a shot for her sake. No denying that. You know that everything you have said about the ed and jade thing I have completely agreed with you... Every last word conny! But he did give it a shot and therefore I think he should have been more sensitive about it. Nothing will make me see it otherwise, that's my thoughts on the matter. Now I honestly can say I had my rant and couldn't care anymore. It was a dick move but that isn't to say I think he is the devil. I'd also like to say ed can move on and do whatever, but jade can feel however she wants too, this wasn't about that. It was about me thinking it was insensitive. Just to be clear that I'm not saying ed can't move on.

I only replied to you because I knew you'd be one of the few to entertain a different perspective on the subject whilst others... it'll be easier to get a rock to bleed.

I should know better than to generalise but the gist of my point stands. And that is that I fail to see what Ed hopes to gain from trying to make Jade 'jealous'/hurt her/whatever apart from rallying mostly Jade fans to pick up their pitchforks and demand to have him hanged, drawn and quartered. And that can't be something that'll help kick start his media career I wouldn't have thought.

Remember he was the one broke that broke it off (99% certain) and from all accounts seemed quite relieved to be out of her clutches. j/k

I just don't get why he would do that, makes no effing sense. In all his time in the house I never got the impression he was a malicious person, a little clueless but not a deliberately mean spirited person... ever.

He did do a few questionable things in response to Tim's influence in the game but that's because he felt targeted and threatened by him (which is fair enough response I think) but other than that I think he's a decent enough guy.

Not a fan of the guy so I can't say that I'm bothered by his repeated character assassination all that much, but it's the disproportionate one sidedness that does. At the end of the day if Jade fans get some joy out of it who am I to get in their way?

If he did consciously chose to pick a photo taken in Coogee to post rather than one taken anywhere elsewhere - the way more popular Bondi, for example, which Ed likes - I doubt it has anything to do with wanting to generate any kind of response in Jade. I would expect it to be purely to generate attention for himself. Which it has done.

I do like that we all react differently. For some people the way some of us reacting to the ex hms is more worthy to comment on then the actual hms themselves. This is why I'm addicted to this forum I think. Diversity is never a letdown.

You are banned from making me laugh so early in the morning- and yes this is early today since I didn't sleep after 3 yesterday, due to a late but fun wedding and then deciding I had to type the boss an email explaining I will work from home today and arrange for someone else to go into work. Ok, your post actually makes a lot of sense, and after my initial response and reading other peoples perspectives, I can see that ed is not malicious, but imo he is clueless and self absorbed to care about anything other than his own world. I'm still suspicious of that relationship that he has going on and suspicious of him wanting to generate some interest for himself. Honestly though, I couldn't care anymore though. I reacted to it yesterday with my own personal bias (as I'm sure others before me have reacted to other scenarios based on personal experience). What can I say? I look like a flip flop between opinions at this point, but that's not how I look at it, but rather I am open to differing perspectives (and I am- which you know and why you replied to me).

I just want to move on from tis ed thing now. He wasn't that fascinating in the house to earn interest now.

For me it's not even about Jade as such. I'm sure she's well over him as he is well over her. They both have their own lives.
My reaction is just that it highlights to me what an oafish, bumbling character he is - that he wouldn't even have considered it inappropriate to be taking new g/f pictures right outside the door of your ex. Like there isn't any other beach in Sydney.
Jade doesn't seem bothered by it, I just know if it was me I'd be rolling my eyes thinking what an ignorant douche he is sometimes.
But anyway.. he's a lumberjack(off) and he's okay..

Oh goodness! No! It was humbling, I swear! Brought me back to middle ground, because lets face it, for the ones like me who have some semi care, getting caught up in the hype happens far too often and we can begin to sound like folk with pitchforks who can go on a power trip.
