Just saw this. Yes I was quite upset when I first heard about this. Said some prayers, shed a few tears. Then came here and saw all the posts about it being a prank, and I was relieved to realize it probably was. So yeah, just laughing and glad Tim is all right. I can just picture him and the brothers having fun with it.

I understood it as Tim following on the prank the boys created/ suggested. I think it was really nice that the boys were involved in the prank and that Tim was ok with with what they suggested. He could have said no, but he didn't. While some see the negative to it, I genuinely think it was sweet.

Possibly instead of telling a lie for sympathy maybe used the fact that he was in the hospital for the telethon and decided to have a cast put on in support of kiddies with broken bones and then run with it being the idea of two young boys with CF who are long term patients that came up with the idea.
 
Sparrow - fair enough but I don't like the fact that people who 'cared' about Tim actually felt concern and obviously you DID feel it enough to shed tears & say prayers for the guy - you've established some rapport with the guy obviously with all the tweets etc back and forth ... he gave NO thought to you (or others like you) in doing this ... that is MY point ...

if you hadn't come in here and witnessed all the cynics amongst us calling foul on this you might have had those concerns worrying at you for longer and I just question that sort of thing ...

Everyone will view it in their own way, like Gemini, I think that attention on this sort of thing is a good thing, plus he acknowledges the boy which was pretty awesome for them.

I guess for some of us we see Tim in a certain way and even though we worried about his arm and how this can affect him in the long term as well as work wise, we understand why he did it. We know that he loves life and really wants to help others out there so we can't see a negative to it

He didn't tell a lie for sympathy! And the boys didn't come up with the fake cast idea. He already had it on when he met them and they suggested he pull the prank and say he was really hurt.

God, I know you hate the bloke, but going on with a prank that two boys with a chronic illness came up with is not a bad thing! They were all having some fun, and it brings attention and awareness to a horrible illness so I don't see the problem here.

EXACTLY. I give him a pass given the reason he did it and particularly whose idea it was, but that doesn't mean I should have been cool with it to begin with without that information. If he'd just done it for giggles--i.e. solicited concern and sympathy only to make people look foolish for believing him--would that really have been so funny and clever? Great that it turned out to be what it was, but I'm not one bit sorry for being grossed out before knowing it was for a good cause.
