Top Players Top Tips to Taking it Out
Last year's biggest game players, season winner Tim and second runner-up Tahan, have passed on their top tips for making it to Finale night… with Jade and Mikkayla weighing in with a different view!
The plucky pair of T's, best known for their shameless strategising and at-all-costs attitudes, has advised this year's Housemates that you don't need to fit in to stand out to the viewers at home.
"How important are close friendships? Not very," victor Tim reflects. "Depends if you are boring like some of my Housemates were and rely on false assurance you will avoid Eviction because you won't be Nominated by your friends."
"I knew from the beginning that Australia were the ones who decided my fate, and I wasn't going to pretend otherwise with anyone inside the House," Tim adds. "I remember night one, whilst everyone else was inside in the Lounge chatting together, I was outside in the Backyard alone looking up at the stars smiling knowing Australia was watching me."
"I don't think it is important to strike up close friendships," 2013 Nominations tally-topper Tahan agrees. "I think first impressions don't last long in the Big Brother House; that's just my personal experience. But in terms of Nominations, it is extremely important for close friendships early on for some."
Runner-up Jade disagrees, and says building a support group early on in the game is essential to a long and happy stay.
"It's so important to strike up a friendship early on because you have no one to rely on, so you need a little support network straight away. I was lucky to be tied with Drew straight up so we had to bond, but Mikka and I became friends instantly, so I also had my girl support straight away."
Jade's best gal-pal Mikkayla says it's best to just keep an open mind.
"At the start, it's difficult to get an accurate reading of individuals, as many of them will try to play a 'part' or a 'role'. This is why you need to ensure you are 100% yourself the whole time; people can quickly start seeing through the fake façade you show, and once you lose that initial trust, it can be hard to get back!"
