So can someone run me through what the audition process is like. I've heard it's "games" as a group, but what sort of stuff specifically?

I turned up around 2:30pm and got into the audition within about 30 mins. You sure had some dedication hanging around for 8 hours!
I'm happy to go both days this year but will probably turn up at 2:30pm again as it worked this year and made it a pretty fun, quick and painless experience. And it'll mean I don't have to wait hours and get tired and bored and not be on the ball when it comes time to go in.

I'm talking about the second day haha, as in when you make it past all three rounds on the first round of auditions and pass the questionnaire and then get invited back as part of the top 200

-ROUND 1-
Warmups: "Do star jumps, run around in a circle"

ABC Questionnaire: You get given a political topic to talk about and have to stand behind one of three cones, A if you have the extreme positive opinion, B if neutral, C if extreme negative. They'll ask a few people why they have their opinion - it weeds out the people that choose extreme opinions for the sake of it and the people who can't articulate themselves.

Rank Yourselves: Rank yourselves from most to least attractive, rank yourselves from best to worst dressed, rank yourselves from most likely to least likely to go to prison, etc.

Human Sculptures: Separated into groups of two, co-ordinate to make a given sculpture with just your bodies. I.e. Harry Potter's wand, Statue of Liberty, A car with passengers, etc.

-ROUND 2-
The people who pass round one get grouped again and are sat in groups of 12 in front of two or three judges. You get asked about political topics again, but this time it's a lengthier and more elaborate discussion. At the end of the discussion you have to nominate two people and explain why.

There's no magic bullet to get you through, I got through because I spoke at every opportunity, spoke over people, but moreover spoke very passionately about the topics. Another girl who got through only spoke a few times but articulated herself well and didn't hold back. She and I got the most nominations. Debating students do well here basically, they don't want to here about your life story but how well you can construct an argument and speak about topics given to you instead of yourself.

-ROUND 3-
The interview with Alex. This is where you sell yourself and your story. He's very frank with some questions, and you have to remember it's a show not an experience. The producers are trying to find out what kind of plotlines they can create with you and they'll engage you in that discussion. I was directly asked if I'd hook up with someone on the show/have sex, to which I replied 'isn't this reboot family friendly?' and he replied saying it doesn't really matter. So don't feel like you have to put an act on at this stage like you're oblivious about all.

I would love to audition, I told my kids that I was going to, they both laughed and said they don't take grannies, and that I'm to blunt and I'm hard to live with, that's why I think I would be perfect. I think I might audition just to stir up my kids

That was very interesting to read! Thanks.

Are the political questions easy topics or are they in depth? Also when you say you nominate people, do you nominate yourself?

I'd love to, but I'm thinking of auditioning for 2015 for sure. I don't think I'm 100% comfortable with certain things atm so I would not like that to interfere with my experience. I need to finish my degree and do my Vegas trip and here I come 2015!

It will be interesting to come back to these forums after my time in the house (if I get in) and see the comments. It would be funny to see if the people who I least got along with on here back me up and the ones I seem to get on with end up hating me :p

Those political questions seem a bit unfair. What happens if someone is not very politically minded. So you're saying that all the housemates this year knew all about Australian politics? I find that very hard to believe.

I don't think it's actually political questions. I'd imagine it would be politically-orienting like the stuff the ABC did for the vote compass.

Eg:
- We should allow more asylum seekers into the country (Agree/Neutral/Disagree)
- Gay marriage should be allowed (Agree/Neutral/Disagree)
- Voluntary euthanasia should be allowed (Agree/Neutral/Disagree)

etc. etc.

Yeah, I know!

If anyone makes it on (and it's not in contractual violation to do so), an AMA (well, Ask Me ALMOST Anything) would be really cool! :D

I've never auditioned but I know a few who did this year and one of them said in round 2 there were questions like "do Australians complain too much considering how much we have compared to other countries". I don't really remember the rest since I wasn't there, but from what I could gather it wasn't pertinent to current political issues, but more general socio-politial things. But, on the same token, someone having no interest in politics might still be something that would interest the producers, for whatever reason. Or political apathy or being a conscientious objector. Who knows.

Get Goon in Big Brother 2014.

I would so do it.

What are you waiting for, who's with me ?

Imagine a Facebook page with like 100k likes, surely they would have to listen and put me in.

Y'all should know I will be there

I didn't get political questions in mine, I got do you believe in god, would you ever get plastic surgery, then in the group conversation they asked have you ever been fired, have you ever been on tv before, have you ever been bullied. And if you stuck your hand up you get to to speak a little.

It must be total boredom in the BB house. There is nothing to do except talk.
Can't they have some TV shows on for them to watch. Maybe some sports shows.

Can't think of anything worse than going on BB. Would prefer to be at the dentist. lol.

It would be like sitting around at the DR surgery with nothing to do.
If I went in there I'd be the first one to try an escape from the BB house.
Arrange with mates on the outside to cut the power, put some pillows under by bed sheets
then make the break for it.

Then get paid a squillion for being the first to escape and get paid interviews for weeks.
Make more money doing this than winning the prize money at the end.

Don't like socialising with people? there's a whole new world beyond the keyboard :) lol

I wouldn't apply but I'd love the experience. I really would be doing it for the experience, not for the money. So nobody on this forum would vote for me. haha.
