Leon Murray (old voice of BB) fired at last minute

That mistake was made years ago when Australia specifically created a much more in-depth BB character that’s become synonymous with the show. Back then producers were doing the voice (Nick, for example, was a producer and his deputies were control room producers) and I assume in an effort to keep building on it we got Leon starting in 08 specifically because he was an up and coming voice over artist.

As Kingston said, it’s all coming up the chain. I’m sure Pete has an idea about how he personally would play the role but is ultimately out ranked. It’s still better than the creepy HAL9000 voice used in the previous iteration.

Leon was a regular on Up Late who Mike would feature.

Speaking of the 7 era voice it looks to me like it could have been influenced by the show Solitary. I also saw recently that ITV has picked up the format. I watched a few series a number of years ago and really enjoyed it but the way “VAL” is used here works much better.

This is true. But he was featured on up late because he was an editor on the show and that was the shtick behind his guest spots. He talked about his interest in voice over work and the rest is history.

I didn't know that... sweet. I was thinking about using VAL as my avatar just the other day. Hopefully they're not screwing it up like the Germans have done.
