Last movie you saw

Dinner for Schmucks

It was quite funny and I enjoyed it. It was one of those films that was full of the more less conventional, quirky subtle jokes that are normally far and few between in these sort of comedies. It's not all this, but so much of it isn't the typical humour that you get in one of these mainstream comedies. It was a nice change and suited me well! Llots of great people involved. Definitely will make the dvd collection when it comes out.

The main female lead... was so ****ing gorgeous it was distracting when she was on screen.

I agree. It could easily have gone completely OTT with the jokes, one liners (of which there are some damn good ones :D) and too many unnecessary 'wacky' characters, but there was a good balance between the humour and the more touching moments.
And, yeah, Stephanie Szostak is hot.:)

I watched Repo Men on dvd last night, good movie but a bit too long and some of the gore could have been left out but jeez Forest Whittaker can act. He's fantastic.

I just hired Repo Men and Iron Man 2 at Blockbuster.
They're overnighters so I'll have to view them both tonight.
Repo Men plot sounds complex, I may make it easy on my brains and grab a spoiler or two before watching.

im hanging out for BAIT 3D.

How'd you like it? Not complex at all eh? Just taking back what's not paid for.

I'm watching the Korean monster movie "The Host". Wow. What a way to start a movie with a bang.
They tried hard to be "natural". How people really react if a semaphore came out of the river and attacked picnickers.

What's a semaphore?

I thought that was a flag

Decent flick, but i don't know as it went on I found it became less cool and unique ect.

I was actually at a screening with the director. His name was something Bong which was amusing. It was one of those mid week screenings and there was a Q&A with him after. Probably at least half the audience left before it. I kind of felt guilty but it was like 11pm on a weeknight. So for me at least it wasn't a reaction to the film which was entertaining.

Due Date, it was pretty funny I have to say. The critics panned it prob cause they were either expecting The Hangover or a deeper film but it was a good comedy.

7.5/10

Alice and Wonderland.

I preferred (much) the late 90s version, that didn't rely so much on CGI effects. I find the Deppster and Tim Burton and their constant collaborations starting to get a bit unoriginal

It's because there's a market of people who want to see a Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland, not because he has any desire, or a good story, spin or take on it to make it.

So it's all about Tim Burton take on Alice in Wonderland, instead of having a genuine take on it. The film was ridiculous. They didn't want to make the original story again. They didn't want to do the sequel with out the original. So they did some weird new sequel which just borrowed extremely heavily that even in the trailers people didn't know it was a sequel and wondering why Alice was so old.

There was a Tim Burton exhibition here in Melbourne several months back, and it was all the rage apparently.

Last night watched "Animal Kingdom". Pretty decent movie that was. Though I suspect that it was if anything a little sanitised from what the actual family is/was like.

They had a scene at Thy Thy restaurant in Victoria St, at one point near the beginning. My "in laws" run that resto, lol :)

I saw Shutter Island last night.
I remember all the old negative reviews in this thread. But it got me hooked to be honest.
I really got into it. so, *shrug*.

That is why I avoid movie reviews... Half the time the movies I really love are universally hated by reviewers so I tend to avoid reading them and laugh at the haters, or the extremely picky.. Having said that I liked Shutter Island despite it becoming all to clear around the middle where the story was going.

She Creature

Starring the fascinating Carla Gugino as a mermaid / sea creature that is in with this travelling circus type thing, and she gets loose on a ship when she is bought by someone, and much chaos ensues. It's billed as a horror but there's nothing really that scary.

Get Him To The Greek - some very LOL moments but Russell Brand does my head in.

Going The Distance - standard romcom.

Watching Despicable Me tonight.. better be good *shakes fist*

I love Leo but I just found that movie boring, boring, boring. It started off well though.

I saw Red yesterday. OTT in the extreme but it had it's funny moments - I still ♥ Bruce Willis.
