Last movie you saw

I love Leo but I just found that movie boring, boring, boring. It started off well though.

I saw Red yesterday. OTT in the extreme but it had it's funny moments - I still ♥ Bruce Willis.

Brucie boy is funny****************.And Helen Mirren with big guns... LOL

I saw Shutter Island last night.
I remember all the old negative reviews in this thread. But it got me hooked to be honest.
I really got into it. so, *shrug*.

I tried to watch "Shutter Island" on the first leg of my flight to the UK a few months back, but there was something wrong with the sound, so I guess I only half watched it. Watching on a plane can sometimes be a bit misleading though....like reading a critic's review!

Also on Saturday night we watched "Twilight - Eclipse". Again, this is quite a fun, mindless way to spend a Saturday night. We've enjoyed all 3 movies so far in an innocuous kind of way. :) Kind of odd seeing Jake wearing no shirt in a snowy forest, what's with that?

Shutter Island isn't very good. It wasn't the plane. I think people are suckered in by the illusion it's meant to be a good film. How ever it's very obvious what's going on and so is just tedious and uninteresting.

You know how people go, well it's a good actor and a good director and looks good. There for they think it is, when it isn't. All the elements are there, it doesn't work but some people I think just see the elements, not if it works or not.

^Werewolves are hot blooded, opposite to the vampires, apparently.

It was quite funny when Jake says to Edward: "I think I should be the one to keep Bella warm. And let's face it, we both know I'm much hotter than you." Very droll!

On the way home from NYC to LA (1st leg of 21 hour flight) I was very thankful for an Australian film about a lighthouse starring Miranda Otto and Martin Csokas.....it's normally so hard to sleep on planes :D

I watched Inception yesterday on dvd and now I know what everyone was raving about. :) What an amazing movie, what an original concept.

I can't wait for this movie********************************.great story, looks awesome, elephants and robert yum. And Christoph.

I was dragged along to the new Harry Potter movie last Monday.

Now, I will declare up front that it ain't my thing - never read the books or seen any of the previous films.

I understand that this is the first part of the final book, but was it just me and my general lack of Potter interest, or do those of you who are genuine fans also feel it was unnecessary to split the book over 2 films, where a lot less faffing about and packing the story into one almighty blockbuster finale film would have sufficed? I just found a lot of it a bit strung out and pointless.

On the positive side, I enjoyed the special effects, cinematography and Bill Nighy's performance. :)

So you are telling me I didn't like it, even if I did?

I love HP, but I'm going to wait until the last part comes out and see the final 2 films together, I imagine having one part is weird.
I understand 2 films though - the final book is just jam packed with info and tying up bits and pieces, it kind of does your head in and you have to re-read the previous books to get the best effect.
The last part is very exciting and should look great on film.
They should have released part 1 & 2 final films close together.

I still maintain it was a very well made movie, but it wasn't a good movie. There were some major flaws in the script and the structuring. The twist is explained to you like 15 minutes into the film. So there was no subtly to it, so you know what's going on. Then later on with reveals it still doesn't work. It was just all presented very well and bits individually are generally all excellent. Just the script and the translation of many key story points don't work.

Maybe for some people the well made and the bits that work is enough. For me, with the talent involved the flaws are just astonishingly bad.

If they didn't split the film it would have ended up being at least three and half hours long. The final book contains far more plot related content than the other long books, which featured plenty of expendable class scenes. I've heard so many people complaining that the film was too drawn out and seemed to lack direction during the middle part, but that's the whole point of the story.

Harry Potter would have been more fun had some of the magical fights and stuff crossed over into our world instead of the parrallel world where Hogwarts is. Could have been more fun.

Splice on DVD.

Well this was interesting.. points for originality and making a thought provoking film that makes you squirm

Story is about 2 scientists who are partners that are splicing together the DNA of different animals to create incredible new hybrid animals for research to cure diseases and cancer etc.. So they decide to make a human/animal hybrid in secret and end up raising it as their own child, but they don't know what they are dealing with. (without spoiling it)

8/10

Do things go pear shaped?

Is it horror?

Might like it.
