I find Gerald/Gerard(?) Butler rather repulsive, Bounty Hunter sounds like utter crap.
Goldenberry, my friend went to about 20 films at the Queer Film Fest, I only saw this and some shorts, but next year I'm intending to join her for more - I really enjoyed my limited time at the festival, the venue is just great and really nice experience allround, go see Little Ashes I loved this movie.
(You know who is in it don't you???)
Enlighten me....I know I could google this, but I have no idea who is in this movie "Little Ashes", I just know it features Salvadore Dali - an artist I will now forever associate with the very good Stephen King novel "Duma Key".

Gerard Butler seems to be big news of late, and he was good in "300" I guess, but then that was a fairly enjoyable sword and sandal flick that one.
I'd been looking forward to "Clash of the Titans", but saw a poor review yesterday and apparently the 3D effects let the movie down.

No they're not. What about Vietnam, Iraq? Shithouse. No idea of tactics. Even in WW1 and WW2 they needed to be led by European commanders. And if they were having to defend Kokoda, they would have lost it in a heartbeat.

I didn't say they were good soldiers or always had good results, merely suggesting they are quite keen to fight wars in other people's countries. Anyway, I didn't make the saying up, but it's a good one......a very sly backhander.
Having said that, it's hard to generalise about Americans, there's about 300 million of them....but my experience with them on the internet has not been convivial, probably would be better in person. Also, I think they like to dump on Australians a bit. Not sure why they don't have a crack at the Kiwis but they probably think we are one and the same.

Swings and roundabouts. 3D was a huge fad in the early 80s. Remember "Jaws 3D"? Ok, so everyone forgot the fad by about '85, and it wasn't the death nell of cinema as we know it.
Plus "Avatar" is a very fun movie. :thumbup:
My blissful experience would be a gold class ticket to see James Franco in 3D as george of the jungle. (Well I'm nothing if not honest).

Well that's the computer game direction. Many many games are becoming more and more like movies.
Game design, graphics ect. are all leading up to better abilities to tel interactive stories.
Then there's the whole developement of physical interaction, wii, the playstation, xbox motion capture control type things.
Next thing is a developement in screens. Something like in the film Gamer. Where the kid basically sits surrounded 360 degrees by a projected screen. Where his movements interact and controls.
If they can get good large 3d screens, then something like a big curved wall screen that monitors your movement, will be the future.

Ok I watched Jennifer's Body.. It was pretty stupid but also fun. If you like your Megan Fox, hot, naked, bitchy, funny and lesbian kissing then get this movie! 
I also finally saw Paranormal Activity! What a stinker! I was so bored and it was so unoriginal but somehow it made millions of $$? I could have done better! creaky doors and lights turning on and off.. oooh scary stuff!

Oh well. I love a Good 3D movie. I've messed about with 3D photography in my time, and even 3D pencil drawings. I find it all quite fun. I was blown away by Avatar's 3D.
But these upcoming "fake" 3D movies bug me. It seems to be disrespecting your art.
If read that the upcoming Hobbit movie might be Fake 3D-ified. The reasoning is that the old LOTR movies might also get the treatment, so The Hobbit needs it too. Damn I hope people come to their senses on that.

Movies... I watched with dear wife the old Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck the other night. Audrey is the most beautiful woman ever on this planet, and Mr Peck, though very swarve and handsome, looks twice her age, so that was sort of creepy in a way. (actually Audrey was 24, and Gregory was 37 according to IMDB) But a good romantic movie that makes you want to visit Rome.

Don't tell me the gimmick I just want to know that. If if fits in the horror genre I may try it.

My own library has become too full. Might start shedding DVDs soon to make more room.
Jennifers body is meant to be like a homage take on the horror genre. I thought it was pretty terrible and just plain bad.
I really enjoyed paranormal activity, but it's just a thing of if you're willing to buy into such things. I found it genuinely creepy and well done except I didn't like the end.

Rewatched Rec and watched Rec 2 for the first time.
Haven't seen Rec since when i first saw it a few years back and yeah, still good, still excellently done. If you don't know what Rec is, it's the original Spanish film that was remade instantly almost shot for shot in the US version "Quarantine." I never saw that but they only changed the ending.
Rec 2, from what I know of the ending of Quarantine couldn't be remade shot for shot as a sequel as it picks up right from the end of Rec and explores the mythology of the outbreak and so forth. This time instead of a reportor following a fire crew to what turns out to be a zombish type outbreak, it follows a swat like team entering the building. This time there's more camera angles, as there's both the swat team an the ministry of health expert with a camera, the swat guys have helmet camera's and a few other camera point of views to tie in a better narrative. All up it was also very good, but the different narratives left it not having the same impact, suspense and atmosphere of the first one. Also because there isn't as much mystery and surprise to what's going on.
Was a good sequel though!
Although in a suspenseful atmospheric film like these, of zombies, posession ect.. is it wrong I kept getting turned on by the cute reporter?
