Last movie you saw

A big annoyance i had was, the tricks were all done with cgi, and were beyond what's possible. So there was the whole.. is it real. But it was just them doing old tricks, in a flashy impossible way. It really ruined the film because the tricks were in the realm of, completely supernatural. I know the original tricks would look dull, but CG, completely unrealistic, plauseable in any other way but supernatural threw something into the film that confused it.

For the end an alternative explanation was that, Paul Giamatti only perceived it to have all been an elaborate illusion, when it wasn't because of his awe of the magician.

Overall it is dull, and at the end, he framed a guy for murder or some shit.. oh yes that's something to applaud.

Your video was disabled when I clicked on it but not to worry did find another underneath where the previews are..... Yes have to agree by making all the tricks CGI they also destroyed the continuity of the movie because it would not have fitted with the tech of that time period.. Made it seem way too far fetched...

The Illusionist was very unsatisfying

Saw the remake of The day the earth stood still I liked it but I felt they botched the ending should have kept the ending the same as the first one .

Eagle Eye

I was totally underwhelmed with this.

The action pieces on their own were good, but when they were all tied together and put into the one movie Eagle Eye becomes quite underwhelming. I liked the set pieces of all the action but this movie did not satisfy me as a whole.

Shia Labouf's acting was alright, as was his co star Michelle Monaghan. They performed their roles well, given the material that they were given.

Once ARIA was introduced I knew things would go from bad to worse. I figured it was behind all the voices on the phones once the computer was introduced to us. Up until that movement I thought it was a real woman ordering everyone around..

I didn't much like the resolution to this all. A bit too easy, just pull out all her memory boards, drain the cooling fluid and pike her in the eye. Was that a rip off of GLADOS from the Portal game. Looked a lot like that...

6/10 and that's being generous

Am I the only one that can't stand Shia LaBeouf? His acting is generally terrible to me and basically everything he's been in has sucked. The only exception I'd make is Disturbia which I thought was a fairly decent thriller, albeit not great.

I can't stand him either. He has annoyed me ever since his Disney Channel days.

Well transformers could have been fun but his presence ruined that a little. Some of the lines were both funny and corny, but his delivery of them was annoying. I'd not even heard of him before that movie then find he's in Eagle Eye.....

Assault 1971

And I have to change my score from 7 to 6. It's been quite some time since I saw this film under the same title on an old VHS from my local video library. That was some 20 odd years ago.

Some scenes seem different to me now. The rapes are vivid and quite alarming, and they don't look like they have changed those scenes at all since last viewing this. Leslie Anne Down did a marvelous job of playing Tessa the first victim who can not speak or, do much else after being attacked. Understandable of course.

There is one scene I remember, even from my first viewing of this of a girl in the school library and the headmistress' sleazy husband. She asks him to, and I quote "could you steady me?" I'm thinking this translates to helping her stand on the chair. But he holds her with both hands on her waist, and as she stands then proceeds to move his hands along the curve of her hips and then push her skirt up... You see that in the scene then as his hand gets high they cut to her face with her looking down with a puzzling expression. It looks like a half smile on her face, as if she either doesn't care what is going on or might even like it. Anyway the scene is gross...

Overall the movie tries to be serious, the only serious part is what happens to poor Tessaa played by Lesley Ann Down.... In the end the rapist finds her again right before the film ends but he is dispatched in the most silly manner that I can recall ever seeing.

So after watching this today I don't think I'd give it another go. Pass and put this DVD in the bin.

6/10

Wedding Crashers

So I watched this tonight. I'd only seen bits of it before. The first 20 minutes were a bit boring for me, but after the movie got really started I liked it. Owen Wilson rocks. And so does the other dude (can't think of his name).

8/10

Underworld rise of the Lycans.

I quite like the first two films, however this was always going to be something different. Set in the past, the prequel doesn't have the lovely Kate Beckensale.
It's got a bit of a different feel, and takes itself a little too seriously. One thing though, for the mythology of the films, it told us nothing we really didn't know from having it explained in the others, and to make it worth while, it needed to not just slightly flesh out the back story we already know.

It was ok if you like this sort of thing, but it could and should have been a lot better.

Last film I saw was Slumdog Millionaire as well - loved, loved, loved it.

Not only because it was set in India, one of my favourite places on earth, but I really loved the performances and how it was directed/filmed. It even had a cricket question in it - which I got right without guessing, such is my nerdism LOL.

I watched the first movie the other day, and found it surprisingly entertaining. Probably because of Kate Beckinsale.

The first one is great, the second one is good, but not as good. And there's a love scene thrown in for the hell of it. I think the movie could have worked minus that.

Revolutionary Road- I really liked this film, though it was a bit depressing to watch at times. Great casting choice too. It was good to see Kate and Leo back together.

Bride Wars- I also liked this. Sure it's not the greatest movie in the world but it's still entertaining and funny. Some people I know really hated it.

You know what's tough? Going to see that movie with your wife.
It steps in very touchy ground for married couples.
Good movie, but I came out of it apologizing to my wife for ruining her life.

Zack & Miri make a Porno

Didn't laugh for the first 15 minutes or so, but it got better. It was alright, but not great. It was odd, the dirty over the top humour for the most part missed the mark. It needed to be much more clever so a lot of it didn't just seem as if the movie was there for the sake of making dick jokes.
The girl in it however is simply gorgeous, Elizabeth Banks. She was just way too pretty for the role.
