Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

Tim's said it quite a bit on Twitter that he isn't a big drinker. Not sure what reason he'd have to lie about it. Jade, Tim and Tahan all drank a bit in the house despite saying they aren't really drinkers. A lot of people who I know say they "don't drink" but it doesn't mean they never drink or they have a massive aversion to alcohol, just that they aren't big drinkers.

I think you phrased it more accurately. "They aren't big drinkers", not they are "non drinkers" because that implies they completely abstain. Clearly they are drinkers, but not Boog/Ed/Tully level drinkers. They enjoy the occasional drink or night of drinking. Or maybe more, who really knows?

I don't follow Tim on twitter and have never even bothered to look at his page so I have no idea what he says. My comment was in reference to him being touted as a non drinker. I have a drink every now and then but would never say I'm a non drinker just an occasional one and the err odd bender every couple of years or so.

I don't really think that's right. Especially out of that cloistered house environment. I don't think Tim or Jade go for a 'night of drinking' at all. No evidence to suggest that they do and plenty to suggest otherwise.

To be honest I think you guys are just being petty and arguing over semantics now. From my walk of life at least it's totally normal to say someone is a non-drinker even if they have a bit on the odd occasion. My mother for example I would say is a non-drinker even though she'll have a glass of wine at weddings.

Tim has also recently gone on a health and fitness kick and alcohol is usually the first thing people drop when they do that so he could actually literally be a non-drinker now.

Another picture of Jade and Tim from that event.

Its not semantics, its just facts. If you drink (however occasional) you are not a "non drinker". You may be "not that big of a drinker" but you are a drinker. If you smoke occasionally you are not a non smoker.

He could have stopped totally, you're right, we don't know.[DOUBLEPOST=1401628385][/DOUBLEPOST]

He looks much more composed in this one.

Tim did drink quite often while he was in the house and Jade also had the odd glass here and there. I know she says she doesn't drink but I don't think I have ever heard of Tim saying he is a non drinker.

He has said several times that he has given up drinking for a year, and hasn't had one this year. But yes, he did drink in the house, and Jade did once or twice.

I have to disagree. I smoked pot precisely 3 times when I was younger and haven't touched it in 3-4 years. By your logic does that make me a drug user? Not everything is that black and white. Jeez.

I have not had an alcoholic drink since January. At this moment I consider myself a non drinker. Am I wrong in thinking that?

I just think there is a lot of ground between having a drink or 2 occasionally and getting smashed on a regular basis.
Calling someone a 'drinker' to me is more like the latter than the former and it just doesn't seem right somehow.

You are right people can have their own interpretations. My classification of an occasional drinker would be someone who drinks occasionally and is open to doing so.

If you smoked pot once or twice a year, then yes you would be an occasional drug user. But you have stopped and not done it again for 3 or 4 years.

Not sure. So if I intended to drink again would you consider me to be an occasional drinker?

Intended and followed through, then probably. I would classify an occasional drinker as someone who has the occasional drink and is open to doing so. If someone stops and intends to remain abstaining, then I would classify them as a non drinker.

I agree that it does have that connotation with most people. To be fair I said "occasional drinker" which, for me, is someone who is open to and has the occasional drink.
