Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

It wasn't the downfall part that I was liking, more the fact that he was saying she was playing with her heart and wasn't holding back like Tahan said she was.

I was completely focusing on entirely different aspect than what seems to be jumped on here..

I understand which bit you like. I also was happy with some bit of what he said. Like the last bit:
"...She is a very lovely person and I was proud to be with her on the last night."
For most part I enjoyed their friendship. But can you imagine if Jade played with her head, I don't think they would have been friends at all.

Gemini, you said this in the showmance thread (and gave me another brainworm in the process!) :
At the end of the day Ed's lack of guts was what screwed him over. If he had have manned up and made a decision (either tell her straight up that he didn't want anything or went for it 100%) he would have won a lot more fans. Instead he mumbled a few things about not wanting anything but completely contradicted himself by jumping into her bed and kissing her repeatedly. To his friends he blamed all of the attraction on her, while at the same time not portraying that same level of disinterest to Jade. He let her become the butt of their jokes while using the relationship to his advantage when he felt the need. I'm not surprised he was so unpopular.

I'm curious, what do you think would have happened if he had just shot her down 100%? Do you think she would have been evicted soon after? I keep trying to work it out. Would Jade have given up? At what point did he need to shoot her down and not take it back? After the first kisses in the first weeks? After sharing a bed 4 weeks in?

What does everyone think would have happened if he HADN'T taken it back. If he had just gone with it from the start, or at least after they shared a bed the first time? Would he have been popular? Would she have been AS popular? If they had continued their relationship but managed to stay friends with everyone and not isolate themselves, would they have made the finals together? Or would Ed just have draggged Jade down with him sooner?

Please discuss...lol.

Definitely, and she wouldn't have gotten as far.

I've always wondered about this type of stuff. The "what if" type of scenarios.
1. What if Ed didn't play hard to get? I think they would have got boring very quickly. Ed made her boring, she is more free-spirited without him. But the 'would they, wouldn't they' get together kept people watching and talking about it and was a better (if not, longer) story line.
2. The same as with Jade and Drew. If these 2 just got together, there would have not been a love-triangle story. It would have got boring pretty quickly. And I think Tim and others would have wanted them both out a lot earlier in the series.
3. I also think a lot of what would have happened if Tully left instead of Xavier in the second eviction week. I think Drew would have still be flirting with Jade. Tully wouldn't have the opportunity to cheat on her (ex) gf.
4. And also what if Ed left instead of Caleb. Just imagine Tully and Ed leaving earlier in the series. Jade and Drew would have been a lot closer at the end of the series. I don't know if it would have been more than friends though. We would have probably also seen more of her friendship with the sisters, Mikkayla and Tim. They focused too much of Ed.

I could go on and on about this. lol

Ed just posted a photo of him and a friend who was in the AFL GF. Will be interesting to see if Jade stays an extra night in Melbourne. It doesn't look like she has an appearance in Syd on Wednesday night from what Mikka said.

No she wouldn't have. Knowing who she is now, I don't think she would have been able to pull it off.
I actually had this preconceived perception of her at the start, I thought she would be more like Tahan. I'm glad she is the opposite, it's what made me like her.

I just think that just because Jade is more introverted than Tim or Tahan.. doesn't mean she wasn't being herself in the house.

She appearing at bowling in Melbourne with Ed, Drew and Boog, which I thought was on Wednesday

Just looked and it is on Wed night. Jade and Ed twitted about it. Just noticed Jade like to write il instead of I'll and thanxs instead of thanks. I don't think she will be going to the Sydney one.

Playing the 'what if' game is always tricky lol. I think that if he'd been more emotionally articulate then he would definitely have been more popular. I think provided they maintained friendships with others then I think Jade would have been just as loved as what she is. It would have definitely made things easier on her because there wouldn't have been the 'stalker' and 'desperate' comments going her way. Ed would have also gained supporters.
For me (I can't speak for anyone else) I liked her in spite of Ed, not because of. The 'romance' etc was insignificant in my reasoning in supporting her. It was her personality, her warmth and relatability that spoke to me.
There were a lot of people who assumed that Jade was getting some sort of sympathy vote and that is the reason she was popular - I don't believe for one second that this is the case.
So whether she would have won or not if Ed had been more open, I don't know. But I know she would have copped a lot less grief from the unenlightened lol

There is something about people who post negative comments on people's photos that incite thoughts of violence in my head.. I'd like to smash their fingers repeatedly so they can't type anymore lol
