Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

"I just wanted to share with you that myself and a friend attended a VIP Screamworld event at Dreamworld tonight. I lined up to have my ride on the Giant Drop at Dreamworld and when it came time to take my seat on the ride, low and behold Ed was seated on the same ride as me and 2 seats to my right. He was talking to the all of us on the ride (4 + Ed) and as we were reaching the top he asked which direction to look in to see the BB compound. As it was night and the compound is lit up with flood lights, I simply told him to look to his right and he was able to see the compound himself. Once we reached the top Ed proceeded to whistle and scream "Jade" from the top of the Giant Drop Tower until the ride dropped (so for approximately 45 sec), Ed continually whistled and yell out to Jade. For me this spoke volumes, as there was
not cameras, media or TV crews around it was Ed's way of feeling close and connected to Jade and sending his love to her from outside the BB compound. It actually brought tears to my eyes as you could actually hear the pain and yearning to actually be close Jade in his voice. I am left in no doubt that if Jade was outside in the yard at the time she would have heard Ed calling and whistling out to her.

Ed had absolutely nothing to gain from doing what he did because other than himself and the official security guard there was only 5 other people (two 13 year olds, their mum, my friend and myself), in the near vicinity to witness this truly humbling and a awesome experience. It has also shown me that Ed is loyal and committed to Jade and developing the relationship that they started in the house. He is also promoting Jade verbally every chance he gets. I look forward to watching the development of their relationship as after tonight I am left with no doubt that they will have one.

Are they sure it was Ed? Maybe it was Nick? :P
If this story is true and it was actually Ed, it'd be ironic if he's had an ephiphany and realises he loves Jade after all. Especially if Jade's had an epiphany of her own regarding ED.

I agree. Jade seems to me like somebody who is extremely loyal but if somebody breaks that loyalty to her, she just as quickly moves on from them. For example, she was extremely loyal to Drew as a friend but when she heard him gossiping in relation to her, that was enough for her to cut ties with him and say to Mikk that she was going to watch what she was going to say around him. Now she's been saying similar things to Tim and can't see Drew the way she used to anymore even though he seems guilty now about what was shown in the Thursday special and seems to be trying to patch things up by having late night talks with her. Similarly, when she heard Ed's nominations and started questioning him for the first time, she just as quickly put it to the back of her mind and began to focus on herself. It just seems like she is extremely loyal until somebody breaks the loyalty to her. So yes, maybe they've both had a realisation in regards to eachother but the roles have swapped...

Misplaced loyalty its apparent jade doesn't want to stand on her own two feet, I believe...she's ready to latch onto anyone who she thinks can help her through...that's not loyalty...its self serving .....in my opinion

I think you made a typo. You just described Drew not Jade.

I'm sick of reading people saying that she shouldn't win because she is not entertaining enough. Just because she is not in your face jumping up and down yelling look at me, look at me doesn't mean she hasn't entertained people.

Exactly, people don't only go to the zoo to watch the monkeys

To me, Jade is very underrated. When you look at this season with objectivity, you see there are very few housemates with a storyline. Jade is one of them. Just by that, she HAS been entertaining, or at least more than most of the other housemates.

She is the heart of this show this year. And there has been so many twist and turn in her story too. If this was a sitcom she will have top billing (and probably along with Tim and to some extent Drew), she is the star of the show the rest are just supporting act.

That whole "Jade isn't entertaining" line makes me chuckle. If she isn't entertaining then why does everyone obsess over every tiny thing she does? Why are there new threads here, or new FB posts, etc every time she breathes? Fact of the matter is, she's been the most talked about HM since Tully left, and it's not like she didn't garner attention before that either. Whether that's positive or negative, she's obviously having an effect on people. Jade has been storyline gold for the producers from day 1. She plays with her heart on her sleeve and doesn't try to do or say the right things because she's trying to maintain a persona like some of them have.

Yes, absolutely 100% spot on. There's always going to be people that find people peeing on plants or pulling the same kind of pranks over and over again more entertaining, but Jade has been central to most of the biggest stories this year and I don't think this series would have been what it was if she wasn't there.

I saw someone post on Twitter a few weeks ago that Tim was the head and Jade was the heart of this series. I think that is very accurate.

Um, most of us watch for the rest of the cast and have wanted her gone for ages.

If that were the case she would have been voted out, but she is still going strong.
Go Jadey!!

Has anyone seen the latest live feed, where she gets the others with the hose? Loving cheeky Jade.

Can't help if hordes of lonely women want to turn Big Brother into a soap.

The thing is, the easiest damage control would be to say he loves her or to say full out that he can't wait for her to get out so they can be together. He has done neither, and instead he's kept up the same awkward lines out of the house that he said in the house. Why do that in the most widely spread media appearances only to try to rehabilitate his image on the limited reach of his social media sources?

No matter what his motivations, I'm glad he's taking this approach because it continues to undercut the Jade is a Stalker narrative that BB, viewers, and some HMs really pushed. As long as he continues to support her and to deny feeling suffocated by her in the house, BB will have a hard time revisiting at narrative when she finally leaves the house. And if it does get her more votes, then we Jade fans shouldn't complain!

You make a very good point in your first paragraph Jane. I also totally agree with you that his support is definitely going a long way to restoring Jade's reputation. I'm glad that support is also bringing light to Big Brother's bias against Jade and that people will begin to question the one-sided relationship storyline that we've suffered all series long.

Look at how happy the boys were to have her "back". Clearly she has offered something that very few in the house did, and it was never about "the game" it was just her being a warm, generous, loyal, caring person.

I think the HMs are lucky she never became comfortable in the DR because I think she easily could have dominated there if she really wanted to. She has such an honest innocence, yet also a cool composure that really pops on the screen. There are 3 DR sessions that just jump out. The first is when she was so cheeky yet honest during her discussion of the female intruders. She so clearly knew BB's game, and i thought she had fun with it, though it was interpreted in a bad way by her detractors. The second is when she was discussing being in love with Ed. She was well spoken, which I don't think many people expect, yet she was also vulnerable and open. And finally there was Friday's session, where she just held herself together and showed how strong she was, that she could bend but not break. Such a real moment and I don't think we've seen anything like it. It makes all Tim's supposedly emotional moments look quite fake in comparison.
