Well said, and I personally understood what you meant right away about being worried about the way Jade is portrayed. I feel the same way. Nobody is saying that BB is editing bits in there that aren't real obviously, that's impossible. However by only showing Jade talking about Ed it gives the impression that's all she does and it's obsessive. Obviously intelligent viewers know that these people are filmed 24 hours a day and they'll only use the few minutes of footage needed to push the agenda they want, however unfortunately most BB fans cant recognise that and they're happy to develop the perception of a housemate that the show pushes.

Mikkayla is another prime example. She's been given a terrible edit lately in the daily shows. All it's shown is her bitching. Now obviously that's not what she does all day. However by only showing that it gives that impression. That's why I haven't been so quick to jump on the Mikkayla hate bandwagon. Nobody in the world is completely good or bad. Everyone has differing levels of both in between. However by only ever showing her bad side it gives the impression that she's "all bad". That's why shows like this that are heavily edited are tricky.

If Jade was doing something more interesting than talking about Ed, the'd show it. If Mikkayla was doing something more interesting than bitching, they'd show it. They only have themselves to blame. Not gushing about a boy can be done, and like Estelle has proved last year, not ever bitching can be done.

Not necessarily, there are a lot of interesting moments related to Jade in the live feeds that haven't yet been shown + a lot of discussion from the housemates in relation to Jade's 'funny' moments, etc. which have not been shown because the main focus has been her relationship with Ed. It's not like they are glued to eachother all day, she has had great moments with others.

Well we do have an actual case of the OS writing a blog about an incident that is clearly not reflected in the accompanying video. The blog about "3 strikes" was so incredibly biased that it seemed to be based in an alternate reality. Given such an egregious example of an inaccurate portrayal of Jade's behavior, one has to wonder what else they are leaving out.

It must be also noted that several of the HMs, including Justynn, commented on Ed's changed behavior towards Jade (more possessive) yet the show has never actually shown this behavior. Why is that? Would it refute the whole "stalking" storyline they are portraying?

Now you're just jumping into another argument all together. The point is that by only showing Jade talking about Ed or Mikkayla bitching it gives the impression that's all they ever do and it makes it look obsessive. Jade doesn't sit around talking about Ed 24/7 like they try to imply (and obviously it's worked on you).

Exactly - it was said that Justynn flirted with Jade, and Justynn said that Ed got all possessive. I was waiting for that scene

I don't believe it's all she ever talks about. Most people are smart enough not to gather that's all she ever talks about. But she is clearly hung up on him, and there's no denying that.

I don't like her relationship with Ed as much as the next person haha but I can see him changing his ways in regards to her lately. Whether it's strategic or not? Dunno. Still don't approve of it cause of how he treated her all throughout the show and that she kept letting him (would have been so much cuter with Drew!). But having said that, he's been responding to her actions all throughout, so I don't hold it against her, as much as we all want her to move on from him.

In fact, all the housemates gossiping about Jade and making fun of her advances in relation to Ed + Ed making fun of it as well, makes me want to see her in the final 3. They really underestimate her popularity outside the house and it'd be a shock to them. Just look at how they rated eachother for the task today for 'most likely to win Big Brother', she was at the 'least likely' end near the intruders & late comers, Katie & Lucy. They totally underestimate her.

It's hard to assess at times. Ed is very media savvy AFL club player taught how to stay out of the lime light in their private lives as well as not bringing attention to the club.
BB this year is a game of read between the lines.

Judging by the bad edits, rude articles and obvious dramatisation of things BB has been doing about Jade, this seems to be the case and I don't blame Drade 2013 for thinking like that because i personally agree as well.

The comment is completely on the money though IMO. All they ever show of Jade is her talking about Ed and that makes her look obsessive like all she does all day is sit around and gush about him. You yourself just labelled her as an obsessive stalker. I'm worried about how they'll portray it tonight as well because it will be more of the same but x10 due to the love triangle they're trying to strike up.

They're playing up this "Ed obsession" angle with Jade when in reality all it is is a girl who's fallen hard for a guy and talks about it sometimes with her friends. It's annoying because he's a douche and she can't see that but she's bloody harmless. Not the crazed obsessive stalker they're trying to paint her as by only ever showing her Ed stuff.

Let's look an opportunity to show something different of Jade, her talk about her dyslexia that they didn't bother to put on the show, despite the fact that "Jade is a stupid bimbo" was a featured storyline since Tim decided to use Jade's supposed lack of intelligence as an attack on Ed. It could so easily have fit all together, yet instead we got round 94 of "Jade is stupidly in love with Ed". That's purely an editing choice, one that left Jade portrayed in a less than positive light.

Another example of selective editing: The leaving of the shorts. Evidently, before going into the PS, Ed whispered to Jade to look under her pillow, but that act, one that would add another visual perspective to their relationship, was never shown. Instead, Ed is shown haphazardly throwing them under the pillow, with a voiceover explanation, then Jade randomly finds the shorts. In the next show, Mikkayla asks Jade what Ed whispered to her, and Jade explains and is, once again shown finding the shorts. So video of Jade being a moon-eyed girl is shown twice, and his encouraging her to be that moon-eyed girl is never shown. With that kind of visual imagery in the eyes of the viewers, the Jade as a crazed stalker meme is reinforced.

I don't understand why you keep changing your tune and blaming it on other posters for not understanding your point. I don't think anybody has said that they're not disappointed that Jade feels so strongly for Ed. No fans of Jade like the fact that she likes Ed so much. But your posts referring to her as an obsessive stalker and saying editing has nothing to do with her portrayal as that is what I strongly disagree with. Like I said before, all she's done is fallen hard for a guy in the house. She's absolutely harmless. Certainly not the obsessive stalker she's made out to be.

This is something else Jade has been unwise about. She has said many times she sees herself as unintelligent. What would possess her to say such a thing on national TV? If you say something enough times, people will start to believe it. Jade should know that.

But it seems like to many people here Jade has no flaws and it's all evil BB's fault. In that case, I should stay far from this thread.
