Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

And it's an even happier dance from me! Yay!
Hope I never see any reference to her going to Melbourne ever again.
Pookie despite our difference of opinion on Jade and Ed ,surely you understand that they'll remain friends because of their shared bb experience.Keeping in mind also that Jade has other friends(eg Mikk, nathan, school friends etc...)in Melb too so don't be too quick to say that Jade won't be"going to Melbourne ever again".

Anyway I will join you in a happy dance today!:-)

I wonder what happened for her to change the Aus Open plans? She was going originally. Unless she still is but was never actually going with Ed like we'd assumed.

Of course they will stay friends-they may even still be together. I just get sick of all the posters who are happy if she's not with him. As if he's a horrible person. Nobody knows the status of their relationship. I remember Prince William and Kate Middleton had a break for a few months. I wish all the HMs well

Hey! Are you all making fun of me again???? You're so mean!!! :)

I'm having mixed feelings about this Open thing. I hate to think that she's missing out on experiences because she wants to stay away from Melbourne. At the same time, I imagine it's expensive to be flying around for experiences when she doesn't have a steady job and she didn't exactly get rich from BB, so I can see her deciding that it's not worth the money to go when she has no other reason to be in Melbourne.

In all honesty, I think we're mostly happy because of the back-and-forth, lack of commitment thing that we watched in the house and for the first month out seems to be over. As Jade fans, most of us just wish for her to move on from the relationship (or lack of one) not because of Ed but because it doesn't do either of them any good from an image standpoint and Jade comes out looking particularly bad as long as it remains an undefined relationship, since she so clearly wanted something more. It's nothing against Ed personally, he appears to be a decent guy who tries to do the right thing. It's just not a good fit at this point in time and it would be nice to be able to put it all behind us.

What, not me that's for sure! ;-)

I think the expense of the trip is irrevelent(you can get really cheap flights here)in Jade's case,I think it's more the discomfort from the scrutiny she'll experience if she's there especially on social media.

You were going to get your head around the fact the Ed and Jade hadn't broken up in a seedy motel room - have your thoughts changed?

And surely a non-drinker getting to spend the day hanging out in a beer garden with Ed and his friends would be worth any price

This is in my mind as well (and while I called a while ago that I didn't think she'd turn up at the tennis with Ed, I'm still not ruling out that she may be there).

I've noticed in the past that there are days were she posts an instagram picture that is unrelated to what she doing eg. The snowy scene on boxing day, historical modelling shots etc. On those days she doesn't seem to post anything else that reveal what she is actually doing. It may just be that she is hanging around the house, trimming her toenails and washing her undies, but it may also be that she wants to keep her activities, or the people she is with, private (could be for any number of reasons, not necessarily something that would greatly interest fans).

This kind of thing keeps fans engaged, and she keeps in touch without revealing anything she isn't comfortable sharing. She is using her social media pretty smartly at the moment.

This morning she posted the historical photo with her brothers. She could be anywhere, with anyone, doing anything.

I've noticed this pattern for sure. It's also something I've seen with Lea Michele (yeah, I know, I talk way too much about her!) that they use SM professionally but in a way that looks personal. I've also seen Lea post pics on twitter about where she's been when she already knows she's been spotted by fans or the paparrazi, much like how Jade posted about Chef Hottie AFTER pics of her with him on Christmas Eve were already out. It's a controlling the narrative technique and I'm pretty impressed with how well Jade is using it.

I also think this is the Old New Media way of doing things, to use social media as your direct connection with fans but in a way you control. It also keeps the fan base active and interested, which makes you more of a useful product to producers, photographers, and others who want to hire you. Then there's the New New Media way, in which you use the social media to sell products directly to your fans, essentially marketing your fan base as the product to the sellers who want to reach them. It's quite a fascinating evolution in social media!

someone posted on Jade's FB that they saw her in Woolworths at Bowral today - so sounds like she may be down at her mother's

I also think the constant evolution of social media has played the biggest role in a lot more of last year's HMs maintaining some degree of public interest than in the previous year. I don't know if you watched the 2012 series of BBAU but very few of them still had such interest in them by the new year. I know with me myself I only follow two HMs from the 2012 series (Estelle and Ray as they were my favourites), but I follow the majority from the 2013 series.

I predict this year's bunch will be even more social media savvy and will use it whatever way they can to help themselves post-BB.
