I think they are both people who are used to trading on their looks but Ed is just a bit smarter than Jade and realises he could be making a big mistake cosying up to Jade. He wasn't smart enough to back track with the line that he really liked her but didn't want a relationship on camera. Thus extracting himself from the situation leaving Jade's pride in tact and making it possible for a 'will they won''t they flirtation.
Jade is determined not to be made a fool of on camera and as she sells her sexual desirability as a commodity as model, it is a huge commercial failure too. Hence the desperate flirting with Ed and extra attention to Drew. I don't think it's sexual harassment but it's not comfortable for Ed certainly.
Having said all that, I don't think either of them is a very nice person and are both used to having it all their own way - so it amuses me to watch it play out.
