In The News

Where are all of these fat kids and people hiding?

A lot of these studies are bullshit - they very rarely give you any idea of what criteria they used, and how they gathered any info.
63% of Aus adults are supposedly fat?
So do they all stay home?
For I have never been anywhere that fat people out number ordinary shapes.

Have you seen these supposed flocks of fat people and kids? I sure haven't.
You see some overweight adults, here and there, but hardly an epidemic.
I can't recall the last fat kid I spotted.

They all must hang out at the footy & rugby, places you will never find me.
I wonder - what I have been assessed as without ever consulting me.

I understand there are real dietary issues in our world - but I'm sorry i don't believe there are more fat than fine people, and 63% is a lot.

HAHA @kxk the only place where I've seen lots of fat people is on the news when ever they do a story about obesity. What's funny is that it's always the same footage, perhaps it took a long time to get all the footage of the fatties, nobody can be fucked getting new stuff.

I think the measures for obesity are a bit off. A friend of mine, who I always thought was pretty average for her body shape and bone structure, is classified as obese according to the BMI. She sure doesn't look fat to me and is a size 12 or 14 in the high street.

Well I think BMI should not be used to measure if a person is obese or not. What about really muscly guys who have like almost zero fat, they would be classified as obese. I'm not sure how most governments/studies measure obesity.... Probably through BMI.... There has to be a better way.

BMI is for the most part effective, however there are some limitations as all it is is literally your height and your weight. It doesn't take into account your percentage of body fat which is much more telling, nor how the weight is distributed around your body - eg, if a female is carrying a lot of weight on her abdomen it can indicate more health problems than someone who has weight evenly spread around her body. The formula has been slightly revised, but not enough to accommodate for all the limitations. Most dietitians will prefer to use body shape and measurements to track changes in a persons body rather than relying just on BMI. It is effective in the sense that people who are obese will be classed as obsese in BMI and those who are underweight will be diagnosed as such, but it is a bit archaic now because lots of people get lost in the middle and there are much better tools available to monitor your health.

I am constantly surprised when I hear about Australia being so obese, it is very rare that I see someone who is a weight that would be seriously detrimental to their health. I am around kids a lot and I can honestly say I haven't seen an overweight child in years.

My Nick, during his entire schooling, primary and secondary - of his boy peers, 1 fat kid in primary, 1 chubby boy.
Nick thought he was fat at a stage around 12 - 13, because he had normal muscley legs, athletic build.
As most of his peers had those typical boy stick legs - far more common in our world, mostly normal bodies but stick legs.
This stick legged boy thing is common isn't it?

Is he still signing on the stand?
Sad really that this has only come to light in the last few years. In a perfect world he would of already been convicted and be rotting in gaol years ago. In a way he is lucky that he is nearing the end of his life.... Not so lucky for the victims who deserved justice a long time ago.

What I am really interested to see - how they sentence Rolf in comparison with Hey Dad creep.
It's going to be fascinating to see what happens at that point - clearly he is guilty.

Yeah it's a tough one. Do you have any compassion for his age and health or not. You can't send the message that if you get away with it at the time, you've gotten away from it forever. It will be interesting.

Age & health = irrelevant.
He's till revolting, and still trying to blame a victim, she was 'flirtatious' - well dirtbag, most 13 year olds are, what's that got to do with anything?

But what the victims want is the most relevant consideration - they may prefer to be awarded enormous damages, with a small prison sentence.

Church facing fresh questions after discovery of septic tank grave for 796 children

The Catholic Church is facing fresh accusations of child neglect after a researcher found records for 796 youngsters believed to be buried in a mass grave beside a former orphanage for the children of unwed mothers.

Catherine Corless says her discovery of child death records at the Catholic nun-run home in Tuam, Co Galway, suggests that a former septic tank filled with bones is the final resting place for most, if not all, of the children.

Church leaders in Galway said they had no idea so many children who died at the orphanage had been buried there and they would support local efforts to mark the spot with a plaque listing all 796 children.

...comes the headline... "Traces of another world found on the Moon"... evidence of it has been found in the moon rock that the astronauts bought back with them from the moon in the late 60's and early 70's... it's hard to imagine that it's taken that long to analyse the rocks to find it out... it just goes to show that patience definitely is a virtue when it comes to being scientists... other stories linked to this article are on these locations... cheers.

LOL!

None of the crazy stuff changes the fact that the kid is talented.

However. The fact that he is talented does not excuse all the crazy stuff.

This kid has endured the spotlight in a brighter and hotter way than anyone else in history, I believe. It would be tough.

This line sums it up

For years, the world has had a Truman Show-like view of Justin’s life, including his awkward journey through puberty, his first love, and his first racist viral video. And then his second.

Sure we love to hate him and the media have a sick interest in watching him fail spectacularly. There's one thing we ALL love and that's a redemption story. I'm still holding out hope for him.

I don't know about talent, I've never heard any of his music, but if he can throw up on stage and continue to sing while the vomit is coming out of his mouth then he must be talented.
After reading that entire list I kind of feel bad for him. It must of been hard to grown up in the public eye like he did.[DOUBLEPOST=1402040225][/DOUBLEPOST]
