Is anyone else finding this situation extraordinary?

Here we have a 40+ year old woman. A woman who has no problems criticising and critiquing other celebrities or the general public, who was “bullied” online by a bunch of faceless dribbling fucking idiots - who probably haven’t seen sunshine since broadband was invented - she hit the publicity trial running, I saw her telling her story on channels 7, 9 and 10 on the one day. From what I saw on morning television Charlotte was sharing her tale to warn others, she was not worried for herself, but worried for her “followers” as a troll had made a derogatory comment about suicide and the poster had lost her partner to suicide yadda yadda yadda..

Now here is the extraordinary part. To stop the attacks all Charlotte needs to do is not log in to Twitter. She doesn’t need to put on make-up, or leave the house, she doesn’t need to hire a body guard, she doesn’t need to alert the FBI, all she needs to do is not log in. But instead of choosing that option, she logs in, continues lolling in negativity, and finally after hours and hours of drama ridden “he said/she said” bullshit that an entire class of hormonally confused Year 10 girls would be proud of, she enigmatically posts “you win x” coupled with a picture of a hand holding pills at 2.07am. Then it even becomes more bonkers. If the story is true, she is in some mental ward of some hospital being assessed and it has been reported that “during her stay it is understood doctors advised the “fragile” Dawson not to take part in the paid 60 minutes interview but that she insisted because she wanted to send a message to the trolls…”.

What message is she sending exactly?

Exactly. Stephen K Amos did a very funny stand up that included a bit on bullying by mobile phone/facebook/twitter - he didn't get it since all that's needed to make it stop is to simply push the button.

Aloha Bill.
Time to step away from the keyboard!
:)

I did warn "Bill" earlier this week that it was a long-standing account wot was heading over the cliff rather than one of the (many) fly-by-nighters that had already gone the same way.

I guess the "different pills" that make that particular many-named member feel "different", provided too much distraction for any sense of forum self-preservation to kick in ... again !

In other news, here is an interview with a certain Liberal (party) Lesbian that also includes some good news about the election of four NT aboriginal conservatives and how our "first people" are obviously sick to the back teeth of the ALP, greenazis, and the victim mentality that is part of core ALPism/greenazism.

Another part of the ALP/greenazi "core" is totalitarianism and wasting (when not outright scamming/stealing/living it up on) other people's money.

Cheers QLD Conservatives/Centrists !

From: http://www.news.com.au/national/new...-literary-awards/story-fndo4ckr-1226463949609

THE cash-strapped Newman Government gave $200,000 to the production company behind Big Brother to ensure the TV reality show returned to the Gold Coast, three months after scrapping the Queensland Literary Awards.

Much better that funds be allocated to BeeBee and the associate tax generating tourist industry than to award self-centered left-urds for their left-urdian self-centeredness and totalitarian ideology and all that.

Ms Bates visited the Dreamworld set of Big Brother this week to talk up the government's investment.

She said it was returning major benefits including 300 jobs and attracting thousands of visitors to the Gold Coast.

"This is a huge production and post-production employer," Ms Bates said.

"It's vitally important because it allows us to keep building a successful and vibrant film and television industry in Queensland."

She said 40,000 people were expected to visit the production set or attend live programs at Dreamworld during filming.

A further 250,000 people would tour the Big Brother house after filming had finished and the set was opened to the public.

"It's a major tourism boost that, along with other initiatives in place, will assist the Newman Government as it looks to double overnight visitor expenditure in Queensland by 2020," she said.

And there it is: The Australian Government is going to stop bullying trolls - the way they did in China.
Just knew this was in the post when Charlotte Dawson revealed she was writing a book.

ATTORNEY-General Nicola Roxon has reversed her position on online spy laws today, backing plans for internet service providers to store user data for up to two years.

In a move labelled by the Greens as "a lunge for vast surveillance powers", the Attorney-General today backed plans for ISPs to store user data for up to two years.

"Many investigations require law enforcement to build a picture of criminal activity over a period of time," Ms Roxon told the Security Government conference in Canberra.

"Without data retention, this capability will be lost.

"The intention behind the proposed reform is to allow law enforcement agencies to continue investigating crime in light of new technologies.

"The loss of this capability would be a major blow to our law enforcement agencies and to Australia's national security."

Greens Senator Scott Ludlam said Ms Roxon's backflip marked "a dangerous new stage in the 'data retention' debate”.

"It is premised on the unjustified paranoia that all Australians are potential criminal suspects," he said.

Senator Ludlam said the Federal Government's surveillance powers was already "excessive".

Nearly a quarter of a million data warrants were granted in 2010-11 according to the annual Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act report.

"This includes detailed locational data logged by every smartphone, every minute of the day," Senator Ludlam said.

He said the proposed plans would entrench huge databases that could mine Australians’ “movements, purchases, interests, friends, and conversations”.

"This interception, copying, recording and disclosure of our data is a means to retroactively police the whole population,” he said.

"We are citizens, not suspects."

Ms Roxon's comments stand in stark contrast to reported comments earlier in the year where she doubted the effectiveness of the proposed measures.

"I'm not yet convinced that the cost and the return - the cost both to industry and the (privacy) cost to individuals - that we've made the case for what it is that people use in a way that benefits our national security," she said in July.

"I think there is a genuine question to be tested, which is why it's such a big part of the proposal."

Tarn I think you'll find that a very similar proposal is being debated in the USA so like every government we have ever head every dumb idea they do we must follow ..... I hope this gets shafted both over there and here. It's the top of a slippery slope and where do you draw the line at what is held and not held..... They'll have to buld a purpose built centre to store all the phone calls, emails, and text messages of all Australians much like the proposed NSA data centre in the US. And it won't be cheap.

Orwell would be smiling........

Tarne

lol this has been in the works for awhile

Did you miss the public debate? we had a month to put forward submissions... this was in the paper and news, did you guys miss it?
YES reporters have been talking about it, writing about it, telling us long before hand, so has the Greens party, so has civil liberty groups... all this has been in the news leading up before the vote

It was meant to be debated for 2 months after the submissions last day , which was last Monday

Tuesday ( i think it was) the cybercrime act got passed (this was in the news, tv/print) everything but this bit of the bill (data retention storaged for 2 years)... Last week, it was announced that section of the bill wouldnt be looked at again till next year/after the election... what was approved last week, was that authorities needed a warrant, that data retention was not going to happen

this bill has nothing to do with cyber bullies, it never was announced or even suggested to be about cyber bullies

I believe nicola even made a comment yesterday, productivity level would be higher now lolol

Mud,

In the USA everything is kept for 5 years: internet activity, landline/cell phone activity (emails, texts, conversations) etc and next year it will all be located at the UTAH centre.... there was talk that Utah would not only be capable of storaging 300 million americans data but also other country's as well

ABC is running a story how the USA used a south australian airbase to launch Drones from 2001 - 2006, to surville Japan, Indonesia, north korea and afghstan

Yesterday in our papers, Australia announced they will be buying 2 drones worth $3billion for our own use, hmmm they can find that money but cant find the money for national disability insurance, there is debate about lack of funding for the new dental policy, and we've postponed the new education reform for a decade or so

Australian troops have been in training for awhile now (on and off) in the usa re drones
We also support logistics etc when it comes to drones in afghan

Wish Australians would wake up
Americans have been sleeping and refusing to get out of bed, its over for them, Australians are following the same track

If I was Julia, Christine or Clover, I'd be wearing the above as a badge of honour.

I love our trams in Adelaide, I am lucky enough to live near the one line we have. Melbourne trams are awesome, wish we had as many.

If you were any of those obviously hell-bound individuals, you would also be one of the most despised people in Oz.

... but you would be honoured to join them in being despised and damned ?

Oh well, "your life, your choice".
