In Defence Of Cat & Lawson

Ok, hypothetically, let's just say Candice is a massive bitch and has treated Lawson like shit and has cheated on him a thousand times over their 5 years (which I don't believe). That would STILL be no reason for Lawson to carry on the way he has. He's on national tv! He's embarrassed Candice and her family publicly and no one deserves that, no matter what the circumstances are. Public humiliation is never cool. He says he's "young". Oh please, he's 23, not 16. As for Cat, I wish Lawson stuck his toe in her mouth instead, her voice grates on my last nerve.

Actually everything about her grates me. Especially the tongue ring, the tears, the massive zit, shall I go on?
This is the sort of social trap that makes BB what it is though. Don't forget that BB is a game/social experiment so to expect that this sort of thing is not going to happen would be a little naive. As a BB fan I think anyone who creates controversy and gets the social media juices flowing gets a thumbs up in my book :D

I defended Tully too. I feel sorry for the people involve if they suffer, but I don't moralize. Cheaters do exist in and out of the house. Life is not easy and we have to deal with it the best we can.

I just don't know enough about Lawson's relationship on the outside to judge him negatively. If Candice suffers I do hope she has friends to help her.
People take this shit way too seriously. This a game and it's BB of course there will be controversy but I don't understand why the public would get so worked up over something that has nothing to do with us? If they are providing entertainment, controversy and getting the social media juices flowing, as a BB fan isn't that everything you asked for and more?? Sure these people have hurt somebody and they will need to come to terms with that and deal with it at some point but that's their business. Does that mean we have to go out of our way to put shit on them? That's taking it way too far isn't it? We are fans of a BB experiment so do we actually have the right to put shit on people who put themselves out there for us? Doesn't seem right to me.

It boils down to respect.

Even if you think that you have feelings for someone else while you are on BB and you are in a relationship, you owe the other person IN the relationship the respect of waiting until you get out so that they can at least KNOW about it before half of Australia does!

There just is no defense for this. It is disgusting. Full stop.
Exactly! I feel like I said the same exact thing last year (and I liked Drew and Tully together, for the record, but did not approve of how it happened)--I don't attach any moral judgment to feelings between two adults. It sucks if Lawson fell for someone else, but I don't see that as a moral failing. It is what it is. It's the behaviour and the disrespect that are the problem. It's not cute, it's not entertainment. It's lack of character and shitty self-control and people being hurt and humiliated. But apparently a lot of viewers are desensitised to that, which is frightening.

Oh lighten the fuck up dude, you dishing out some serious over kill about this. Lawson hooking up with Cat was probably the best thing that could have happened to the X girlfriend. You don't need to make a huge deal about it. It's not that a big a deal. Shit happens, build a bridge, move on.

well my opinion is that this isn't affecting anyone in the general public (apart from their families and partners or whatever) so people shouldn't judge and hate someone that isn't directly hurting you.

I agree with you. The moralizing that is going on is ridiculous.

Do we have to think those critics are perfect little angels doing no wrong? Why investing so much hate and energy for a TV Show?

Fair point, but would you still feel the same way about this if it was your own partner playing up on you in front of the nation?

I'm all for an 'entertaining' house. Controversy, yes! But cheating and downright disrespect? No.

As devastated as I would be I would accept the reality of it and I would try to take the positive out of it which is that if my partner truly loved me she would never have done that in the first place. Sometimes these things can turn out to be a blessing.

If my partner would cheat on me on BB, I would cry, dump him, deal with it and move on. The same I did when it happened in my real life

All this moralizing is base on assumptions. We have no idea what the relationship between Lawson and Candice is

So true. I wouldn't want a partner like Lawson. I would rather know as soon as possible.

Seriously?!

That's five years. Her first love. The best thing for his gf to be humiliated and disrespected like that? To have your heart torn in front of everyone because now everyone knows your business? She will forever be changed by this. The part of her that would have been carefree and open to life and the people in it, will be tainted by this. I imagine the person she was will not be the same but not in a better way. That hurt exists within her now but I hope she finds someone who can love her and only her so she does get to experience that forever in her life, but this experience will leave damage and the people responding to this, identify with this just as I do. So don't tell people to build a bridge and get over it as if their point is not valid. Like me, others see real people with real lives outside of bb who will go through some real emotions, we can see past the bb side of things and identify with them on a human scale. I just want you to understand this. Because you might see only the bb side of it and the game and the social aspect within the house, but for others it also means we relate to these people beyond that and that's what bb is supposed to also be about, good or bad.

I agree. I am not about to call Cat a skank nor about to call Lawson a knob based on..? That said, I still stick with my take on Lawson based purely on what I have seen of him regarding this situation. I go with what I have seen in reference to it.Nothing more.

Yes, BB is A GAME but it's also a reality show where people have volunteered themselves up to be scrutinized by the viewing and therefore, in many cases voting public, whose votes go by WHAT they see of these people on the show. As such, if people are going to spend money on voting, it's based on which housemate fits in to their own.. sometimes ethical standards. Clearly those making judgement calls as to cheating etc.. have never cheated on a partner/gf/bf/spouse. (or perhaps have and this is just a "finger-pointing" exercise to help take their minds off their own guilty conscience..lol )

Yep! I don't buy this lawsons relationship was already rocky crap. The continuous talks to bb and to cat, like we cant go there, there is someone on the outside bb etc... Oh please! If he weren't in front of a camera, he wouldn't even consider her in all of this, but in front of the camera all the sudden he is fighting his attraction and he still at the same time feels guilty? Yeah nah! in the outside world he would have wham bam thankyou mamm without a second thought.

Yeah to be honest, I have been in situations and I am not the healthiest person when it comes to relationships. However I have been in situations where I could cheat, even with someone I had previously liked and while it wasn't on national TV I didn't. You know better and what is right.

Hell I went overseas last year while in a terrible state of a relationship where I had 99% certainty she wouldn't be waiting for me when I returned many months later. I could have easily cheated many times. However those opportunities came, in hindsight I can kind of kick myself, but I had some self control. You can stop yourself, even if you want to. In the end she broke up with my while I was there and so all bets were off, but I am glad I waited until after I was out of the relationship.

Lawson should be able to control himself. It's not hard to stop these things. However some people don't have the barrier in their head that can be a big 'No.'

Side note, wasn't his whole crying about how he let people down? Not about what he thought?

You are assuming that is the situation. Your scenario is tragic yes, but it has no base, you just don't know.

I refuse to judge people on what I don't know. There could be a different scenario where Lawson is the victim in his outside relationship.
