I feel like Robert is testing the waters and just using Chris' hosting style as a base. He'll come into his own eventually. But he needs someone else who matches his energy. The chris and julia dynamic worked due to him being this awkard butt of Julia's jokes, which allowed for her to act like an idiot. With Robert, her schtick doesn't land.
